The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Highlands and Islands

We arrived on a cold, windy evening. Dining room was warm & welcoming with a fire going. Our young waitress was extremely helpful - firstly going through the drinks available and then clarifying a number of questions about the menu. We settled on the prawn cocktail & Cullen skink for starter. Both were delicious & the prawns were a very generous portion. For mains we went with the battered fish & chips and the scampi. Both were exceptional. Crispy batter on the fish & whole prawns in the scampi. We were too full for dessert, but may forego starters next time & try the sticky toffee pudding. Considering the excellent standard of the food we felt it was great value overall.

A very nice public bar. Grant the daytime barman was very friendly and welcoming. He went to great lengths to assist a couple who were wanting to dine at Cafe Kissimul which was great to see. However, at 6 o'clock the atmosphere changed when the ice queen arrived. She did a great job of killing the atmosphere and encouraging us to leave earlier than planned. Big thank you to Grant for your welcoming hospitality.

The restaurant had great views overlooking the loch. The staff was friendly but mostly inattentive. They forgot about our drinks…including tap water for the table. The risotto swimming in oil. Filet was just ok. Chips were good. Maybe stick with seafood. The Hoppy Ness IPA was good. Overall, just ok.

All very delightfully, perfect view, friendly staff and great value, quality and customer experience. Recommended.

I strongly believe that my friend got food poisoning when we were here. She didn't eat anywhere else in the relevant time frame. Leaving this review to caution others. The restaurant portion of the bar & restaurant was also extremely cold, as in, you could eat in your winter coats and still be cold. My own food (different from my friend's) was really delicious and the staff was nice, so this is one of the most mixed experiences I've had in a long time. Ultimately, the food poisoning did ruin the rest of our vacation though, and there is nowhere else it could have been from.

Obviamente esto no es una cena de cinco estrellas. Sin embargo, estaba limpio, la comida estaba bien dividida (en particular comidas para niños que eran solo £ 1 cada uno, a pesar de que solo se compraron 2 comidas para adultos) , el personal era amable y servicial y los niños estaban encantados con él. Overpriced, and the lady behind the counter was unwelcoming and was very short with us, came across as quite rude, and we had to wait until she’d stopped playing on her phone before being served. Coffee was nice but £3.95 for a medium sized takeaway latte is top end, and this place isn’t top end.

Been here a fair few times as me and my partner enjoy the food at costa. However the service we have received here is typically always the same result. Alex has served us every time we've been in and when asking for drinks we always say no cream. This particular time I also asked for an extra shot of coffee and I couldn't really taste any coffee bar a very slight after taste. After asking for this to be corrected Alex was then extremely rude and became a little rash behind the counter barging past a colleague and almost knocking her over and slamming things around. Not very happy that this man is continuously serving people with below par attitude.

Lovely staff very quick and professional

Ate here twice in a week. Once in bar area with dogs and once upstairs. Defo enjoyed the bar environment better - warmer and more relaxed. Food good in both locations x

Asked for no mayo and there was mayo on burger so couldn’t eat it. No coleslaw was given when its part of the meal. Phoned to say there was no brioche bun so had to have normal role

I don’t normally leave reviews however the service in here is so poor I feel it’s needed. This has to be the slowest barista/service I have experienced. I’ve been in here a few times over the year to grab a “quick” coffee before work but the workers are painfully slow. Cream runs out- no replacement cream so everything stops while that one barista gets another one. No skimmed milk in fridge so everything stops while they go and get more from the back. No tables free apart from dirty ones with used plates and cups, que all the way back to the door. One barista making drinks with 6 tickets on the counter and you’re waiting 15 minutes to get a coffee to grab and go. Every visit I have had this has been the experience I have had more or less. More training and improved service flow is needed. Every other costa I’ve been in, in the surrounding areas is brilliant. This one always is a awful experience.
