Overpriced, and the lady behind the counter was unwelcoming and was very short with us, came across as quite rude, and we had to wait until she’d stopped playing on her phone before being served. Coffee was nice but £3.95 for a medium sized takeaway latte is top end, and this place isn’t top end.

Visited many times over the years, it's a quirky well positioned place but...this time we found it to be dirty, the toilets were a total disgrace, leaking water and uncleaned since who knows when. The lady who apparently runs it was overheard being curt and downright rude to numerous customers, the place felt unwelcoming, unlike on our previous visits. The food wasn't good, stale dry carrot cake and scones. The bookshop attached is a great place to visit and we'll do so again, but not the cafe.

Rather rundown place, much in need of refurbishment with a tatty leaking conservatory. Very overpriced for mediocre coffee, and stale cakes. (£18 for 2 coffees and 2 cakes). There are some great places for coffee and cake in Gairloch but this sadly isn’t one of them.

We have been visiting this cafe for years and always look forward to returning. The coffee is excellent and there is a great range of home-made scones, pies, cakes etc. My favourite is the blueberry and cinnamon scone which is huge and delicious. Service was really friendly and welcoming on the various occasions we visited here during the past three weeks. We look forward to returning. The cafe is adjacent to a really nice bookshop too which is a bonus.

I had read some unkind reviews about this place, but decided to give it a try anyway. My wife and I ordered, me an oat milk latte and my wife a tea, accompanied by a plum pie and a blueberry scone. The young lady who served us was very polite and helpful, and the drinks and food were very good. My wife’s plum pie was the best she has had, and my coffee was excellent, as good as any I’ve had on our holiday so far. All topped off by a lovey view from the deck. Overall a great experience, and we will be back there today for more coffee and tea.

How is this still in business! The service is so bad it's almost comical! We went in last year every day to get a takeaway latte and whilst the people serving us were nice, the owner is beyond miserable! And we were never charged the same price twice for the same order! Came back this year to Gairloch, went straight in to get a latte. Not only did she look like we were ruining her day by going in, she barely spoke to us. When asked how many sugars I would like in my latte, her face and reaction were rude when I replied I would like 4 (I like a sweet latte). Don't waste your money, go to the barn cafe at the big sands campsite. It's just up the road, does a lovely latte, cheaper and friendly, helpful staff. Of course if you want to witness the worst customer service in the world go to The Mountain Coffee company. The irony is, the whole ethos of the place is supposed to be spiritual and calming 🤣🤣🤣

Mixed experience. A wide range of cakes and hot drinks. Cheese and Rosemary scone was delicious and so was our apple, cinnamon and black currant cake. GF carrot cake was tasty but a bit dry. Lattes were lacking in milk and served rather lukewarm. I had to ask for them to be heated up a little. This has the potential to be a really nice place. Books, cake and coffee are an excellent combo. However the service wasn't great. The female staff member working wasn't friendly or chatty and made no attempt to interact. Female toilets were pretty tired with wet floors and a broken bin. Not ideal for baby changing.

We called in for coffee a couple of times while staying with family nearby. The coffee is seriously good. I sampled both the carrot cake and lemon cake and they were delicious. My husband had the cheese scone with tomato the first time which was unusual as it is more like a slap of cheese scone. He opted for the plum pie on day 2. It has a free spirit vibe which is lovely. The bookshop next to it is a treasure trove of seriously good books.

We both had the Mexican Bagels (£7.50 each) which each consisted of a toasted bagel, a dollop of lukewarm refried beans (tinned i would say), with 4 slices of chilli flavoured processed cheese, half a sliced tomato and some avocado chopped up on the side. That was it. My 10 year old nephew could have thrown this together and probably done a better job. Maybe the cakes/pastries were better, but we didn't feel like giving them any more of our money. We accidentally came across this coffee house when looking around Gairloch. It was extremely quirky and we loved the ambience. We had only planned to have a coffee but couldn't resist the 'apple scone bake' between us, of course. The young man serving was really approachable and friendly. He did take a while to make our drinks but it didn't matter. I ended up with a hot chocolate which came with all the trimmings and was lovely. But not as lovely as the wonderful cake!! We watched as some people left and the table was scrupiously cleaned and sanitised. The sun came out whilst we were there and we sat in the conservatory with a beautiful view of the loch. There was also a seating area outside for better weather with wonderful views. I would certainly recommend this establishment for coffee and cake. They also sold maps/books/trinkets too.

Literally walked in through the front door and we were immediately shouted at to follow orders (use the sanitiser - which we had & only 4 people in the queue - there was one other couple at the till).Incredibly rude...why not save everyone else's time by putting a sign outside saying "customers...you can all f$@k off" you would achieve the same purpose with minimal fuss to all concerned. We walked straight back out the door and went down to Coast Coffee where the both the food and the friendly welcome were polar opposites. AVOID at all costs unless you want to ruin your day before its even started.

Extremely rude woman barking orders at customers on arrival, she’d be more akin to starring in Dads Army than working in a cafe. I understand Covid has put pressure on everyone but being rude to customers is not cool. I left without ordering and wandered up to Crumbs cafe, no rudeness there just two friendly faces, much better.Avoid Mountain Coffee, the customer service is atrocious and you’ll be unappreciated, can’t comment on their coffee.

I recommend the coffee. It was lovely. They had all kinds of tea there as well. It's a quaint little place, however you won't be disappointed with the tea/coffee on offer. Not your standard coffee, this is good coffee, the good stuff.

Its a strange looking place from the outside and inside, but I guess that adds to the charm of the place!Coffee was fine, better than Costa, but I've had better at my local independent place; nothing to write home about.Friendly chap working the machines/shop

We had a mocha and a latte and shared a cheese scone - good job too because it huge, seriously double the size of even a large scone in a standard tea shop. It was also delicious! The coffee was excellent, and we sat on the sunny terrace at the back with views of the bay. Shame all crockery etc is disposable at the moment but we understand why. The staff seemed to be taking covid precautions seriously. We'd go again.

Didn’t even get coffee here as was so disappointed that a cafe with lots of environmentally conscious images, quotes and general vibe completely obliterated by the fact that they don’t do #contactlesscoffee and even people sitting in have to contribute to landfill with disposable cups and cutlery. I appreciate that Covid has put a strain on all businesses but think that a coffee place such as this would be proud to put Covid measures in the place at the same time as considering the environment and our planetary health, therefore our health in the long term. Would love to have stayed for a coffee here as the atmosphere was really nice and the views lovely.

I do not recommend going here if you have any sort of dietary requirements. Tried eating here, however did not this time as my sister has a gluten allergy and when we asked if they had anything suitable for her, they bluntly replied NO.Staff need training. So we left and looked at their book shop next door, which had a good range of books.

Enjoyed a late lunch of bagles, tea and coffee. Generous portions, delicious fillings, great coffee and drinks. Fabulous bookshop next door too. A gem of a find

Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.

The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .
