After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.

Typical front bar of a pub, quick and simple meals. We went as a family of 4 adults and 2 kids. All enjoyed the pulled brisket loaded fries, chicken burgers and fish and chips. We were there on a Friday night and it was full of locals. Would go there again.

Not sure if this is a typical pub for Skye? Stayed in the hotel and came in here for drinks, place was busy and quite a few tables uncleared. We asked for the special Drambui drink that is highlighted in the hotel, in a display board, on the website and all over the place and the barmaid had no idea what we were talking about. Took the shine off to be honest

Stayed in Broadford for a few days and this became our “local” for a couple of nights. There was 8 of us and Michelle was wonderful, doing all she could to make sure we had a great time. We had food on one night, it was tasty and plentiful, everyone was friendly and accommodating, saturday evening was like crufts with an array of fabulous dogs, which we loved. All in all this little pub made our stay even better than expected. Definately plan to return, thanks again to Michelle and her staff.

Ignored for a good 5 minutes when we first went in to have drinks, then charged £9.50 for 2 drinks, overpriced for a public bar in this state. Barmaid rude, choosing to ignore customers for her husband (with his dog) who also seemed in control of the tv, he seemed to dictate what was watched despite large groups of customers requesting to watch a different sport then leaving due to her stating her husband wished to watch a certain game. Cannot imagine tourists finding this to be a friendly welcoming atmosphere.

Have wanted to eat here for a few visits to the area and was a little disappointed. Food was good though. Unfortunately, due to being early risers we eat lunch early and on entering there was a strong smell of bleach. The place was however clean and basic, not posh, Food was excellent, service was good. TV was on a music channel the whole time and we are a bit old for that type of music and it was just a little louder than we would have liked. Guy behind the bar was lovely. Just use bleach earlier than you did today please

Came into the Gabbro Bar at 1pm hungry and thirsty, after a long walk. The place was empty, except for two members of staff deep in conversation. We waited at the bar for a good two minutes in full view of the two members of staff before giving up and walking out. The place stank of bleach too. Very off-putting. Went two minutes over the bridge to Cafe Sia where we had a fabulous lunch. No wonder the Gabbro Bar was empty if this is the welcome that greets visitors!

Dropped into the bar for a bite to eat as most of the rest of Broadford seemed to be closed. It's not the most atmospheric place, and after waiting until the staff finished their conversation we were served some very expensive drinks, £9.20 for a bottle of beer and a bottle of cider. The less than friendly bar staff pointed us in the direction of the menus. Food was ordered and served in a reasonable amount of time. Food was tasty and the portions were good. The prices of the food was a wee bit expensive for what it was but not as inflated as the drinks prices. Not all the staff were bad, the lady who served the food was quite pleasant. Given the prices, atmosphere and the attitude of some of the staff I would recommend trying elsewhere first, but if you have to go there you'll get a decent plate of food. I'll not be hurrying back.

Decided to go out on Friday night for a few drinks with family , to go to pub which we go most weekends to buy 4 pints with 60p change of a £20 note . Shocking . This is a pub a public bar and to be charged that is shocking but anyway to then be told to get out if you don’t like it was even worse . You can’t expect to not have backlash from locals when doing that . To be told your not welcome cause you have made a complaint is awful behaviour . The bar man frank was so rude to us all. major attitude problem in the wrong job . I will not be back and I’m sure a few others feel the same way . Good luck when your bankrupt at the end of year by throwing all the locals out .

As a local I have been coming to the Broadford public bar for many years at least three times a week. It has declined dramatically the last few years. The food used to be a high standard and well worth the price. A few weeks ago I ate in the public bar and the food was terrible on two occasions and I haven't eaten there since! But Today was the last straw, I bought my drinks and i nearly collapsed they have increased drink prices through the roof!!! ! It was over £8 for a double vodka!!! The price of my pint had increased by £1.10, nearly £5 a pint! Iv seen many tourists and traveller walk out because of food prices recently but as of today I won't be back ! I have travelled all over the world and I am used to paying a higher than average price for food and drink , but these new prices are ridiculous!! The pub used to be thriving many years ago full of life ,but it is clear the new owners are chasing people away!

Also she can´t understand simple sentences from somebody that has been living and working in the UK for more than 3 years. Another thing is that smells of fried fish and it stinks in the clothes. We stopped here for dinner on my birthday and it all started really well. The food here is good value, and it is good food. The desserts were particularly generous and we enjoyed the impressive cheeseboard. The wifi is excellent - the best we had on the island. There is no wine or drinks lists, which made it difficult for out of towners who would like to try something local or a bit different, but have no information about what is available, prices etc. The young woman behind the bar was friendly and helpful and all went well - until it came time for coffee. We asked if they could do us a takeout coffee as we needed to hit the road. We were told that they could and the order was taken. Eventually the coffee came out in China cups, delivered by a woman we hadn't seen before and who had a different attitude to service from the pleasant young woman we had dealt with up until then. We explained that we had ordered and needed takeout coffee as we had to leave. She informed us that they didn't do takeout coffee, and the person who had taken our order had got it wrong. She put the cups down and abruptly left. No offer to make good the mistake, offer a refund or anything. Our pleasant evening came to an abrupt halt too. We had to pay for something we didn't want and couldn't drink and in a single minute my birthday dinner experience went from a 5 star one to a 3 star one. Customer focused service is just so important.

She began shuffling through a pile of menus at the bar which were empty.Throughout this entire exchange there was no attempt to be pleasant or welcoming in any way . Gabbro Bar is part of the Broadford Hotel and we decided on the Bar for a nice light meal in early evening. There were 4 of us and the 2 men had the Speyside Steakpie, which they thoroughly enjoyed and I had the Macaroni Cheese with French Fries (chips), which at a cost of £7.95 was good value. As mum was not too hungry and is in her eighties, we asked if she could have a small portion and was given a 'child's portion' of Macaroni (without chips). The portion however was probably bigger than mine. It would be a good idea if more restaurants would take on board that some older people would appreciate 'smaller' portions. Prices here were good ranging from snacks costing £5.50 to mains ranging from £8.95 and 8 oz Sirloin steak at £18.95. We would certainly visit again. Also, a piece of interesting information is that the Broadford Hotel is the original home and birthplace of 'Drambuie' - for all you connoisseurs!

The food and beer were very good, with a reasonable selection of both. Within walking distance of the harbor and most of the inns in Broadford. A good choice for the neighborhood.

Pub looks like recently renovated. Food was good, and it was great to chat with the locals in the pub ;-)

We ate with friends and had a satisfactory evening. With a group of 8 the staff did not welcome the business with open arms and we felt that it was almost a chore in having us. The mains were good although the traditional dishes were more recommended. One main did not arrive until most people were almost finished the meal. Staff were dour and did not make us feel welcome.

The food is classic pub food, it's not the best but you get what you pay for. The service was a bit disgraceful - Nobody could pour a pint of Guinness correctly and they got my food order incorrect. I was ignored at the bar a few times as well.

The Gabbro Bar is a pub attached to the Broadford Hotel in Broadford. It is just behind the main road and easy to get to. Somehow it is not in the most beautiful spot on Skye. It is a traditional pub with good service.Being a traditional pub it is comfortable rather than classy. It looks like the sort of place that might well have been harder prior to the smoking ban. It does smell a bit. The decor is somewhat faded but perfectly fine. Seating is comfortable with a range of pub style options. Service was excellent. Friendly and fun. Delivery of food was prompt. Probably the best thing about the bar was the service quality.Price is based on this being attached to a hotel so is a little inflated. Skye does not come cheap so value at Gabbro Bar is ok.Food was just ok. Nothing was particularly wrong, just not especially interesting or flavoured. A predominant flavour of onion wasn't a great idea. To make the food worthwhile there needed to be plenty of condiment use. Portion size was generous and filling. This is possibly a decent option for a hearty meal after a day in the hills.

Essen gut, Atmosphäre stylisch, aber irgendwie etwas "verkrampft", Personal freundlich. Betrifft das Hotel-Restaurant, nicht die Bar!

Ate here after completing a Culllin Ridge traverse. Tired and hungry. 2 pints of Red Cullin and fish and chips later felt better. Probably cannot do the food justice as was so tired but remember it as hot and tasty enough.

We stopped on a bus tour so we had a limited menu and we ordered in advance. The food was creative and tasty. They did a decent job of getting everyone served on time. Portions were good as well. I had the fish & chips and my wife had the chicken. We both enjoyed them, although the little squeeze packets of tartar sauce and ketchup sure do ruin a good feed of fish & chips. There wasn't enough at the table for everyone.

About 5pm I called in and asked if a group of 11 would be welcome for a bar supper that evening. I was assured we would, by a very nice lady and she gave me a menu to take to my group, but we would need to book. About 6pm I phoned back to book and got a much less enthusiastic young? man, however, we did book and had a good meal and good time. Highly recommended £20 for Smoked haddock in creamy sauce in a crepe, with a very fresh salad, followed by good sticky toffee pudding and a medium glass of wine.

The Gabbro Bar is part of the Broadford Hotel but it has definitely a pub feel to it, pool table, sky sports and real ale. We had a good meal here, sensibly priced and decent portions.

A waitress unable to smile and to serve the correct beer. A burger just correct and an awful sticky toffee pudding served in burnt butter.

Three of us went there for a meeting and a light lunch. After drinks, I had a pint of MacGregor and excellent beer from Orkney in lovely condition but a bit cold for real ale, we all chose from their excellent sandwich range. My friends chose goats cheese with peppers and my other friend chose chicken whilst I chose Roast Beef & Tomato without the horseradish as I detest hot or spicy food. The food came quickly and was beautifully present with excellent home made coleslaw and a side salad. We fell apon a food with relish and it was very tasty until I came to the salads,Oh. nasty, very, very nasty as some twit had put something hot tasting in the dressing. Tis must be new as I have had their side salads before and there was no nasty's in it. I hope this will be rectified or warning given to customers. The food here is always great and one of the few places on the Isle of Skye where lunch is served even though in the bar which is quite comfortable.

Stopped in for a burger and chips on a rainy day. Portion was good size, burger looked handmade. The bun was very nice but soggy to the point of being wet underneath where salsa had been placed underneath the burger. Not sure if the burger and soft drink was worth the £10 price tag in honesty. The woman behind the bar was pleasant and helpful, although she couldn't get anyone to make me a coffee after my meal. It would have been nice if the bar was a little warmer on such a cold and miserable day. Toilets were very basic and mostly clean.

Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

Usually get coffee to go from here but decided to sit in with my one month baby and used the changing facilities which were in a disabled toilet. They were absolutely horrendous! Filthy and the handle and lock on the door was broken. Not only a health and safety issue but obviously a privacy issue for people needing the accessible bathroom. The other two toilets weren't much better either. Decided to leave and use the main shopping centre facilities instead.
