Castlebay Bar in Eilean Siar

A very nice public bar. Grant the daytime barman was very friendly and welcoming. He went to great lengths to assist a couple who were wanting to dine at Cafe Kissimul which was great to see. However, at 6 o'clock the atmosphere changed when the ice queen arrived. She did a great job of killing the atmosphere and encouraging us to leave earlier than planned. Big thank you to Grant for your welcoming hospitality.

We went to the main hotel hoping for drinks but unfortunately we were told it was for residents only. We then went to the bar which was most unwelcoming and the drinks were awful we left our pints. Avoid at all costs.

We were in Barra after a cancelled ferry, so didn’t have much planned. Ended up here on a Monday night and was great. Nice big bar with great views over the sea. The staff were lovely & made us feel like one of the locals for the night. Will deffo be back next time we’re in Barra, Cheers guys!

For a small island this is definitely the pub to go to. A great selection of beers and the prices are more than reasonable. The barman is a character and the banter is great
