This is an unpretentious hotel but the receptionist was friendly and efficient and my room was excellent. The hotel is dog-friendly, which was necessary as my daughter was travelling with her small pooch. The hotel is clean, with modern facilities. It is in a central position, and I would happily stay here again.

Room not clean, double bed was very, very small. The friendly lady from the reception gave us another room. The bed here was very good, but the bathroom was mold paradise and every 15 minutes some kind of outside airco made a lot of noise (all night long). #hardlyanysleep

Room was a bit small, with stains on the wall and crumbling plaster. The communal area smelled very stale and could do with a deep clean. Bathroom appeared relatively modern, excellent pressure in the shower

This is a great jumping-off-point for any time in Stornoway; just steps from the ferry, it is easy to get here and to get back to the ferry after your adventure is done. Anne, the front desk clerk, was a doll and was able to put us in a room with a larger bed the second night we were there -- room 16 with a double bed just wasn't conducive to a good night's sleep. Room 40 with a king + (two twins pushed together) was a dream. The rooms have adequate heating, and great water and water pressure. The restaurant, eleven, has a good breakfast buffet and I enjoyed eating there in the evenings, too.

Not the first time I have stayed here and no complaints previously. Food is very good and rooms are comfortable although sometimes a bit on the small side but don’t go here if you are given a room facing the inside of the hotel and hope to sleep. An extractor fan switching on and off just outside my room is making that an impossibility. I am here for business or would be fighting for a refund if I was paying

Went to this place for dinner. They seemed to have a buffet for dinner which we thought would be good. They had a reception desk saying wait to be seated. We waited for almost 15 minutes multiple staff walking past us not one acknowledging us or showing the courtesy to give us a table to at least tell us they would be with us. Very poor customers service we ended up walking out and going to another restaurant in the town. If they treat their customers like this all of the time they won't have many left in due course.

Check in was 2pm We arrived to be told the room wouldn’t be ready until after 2.30 Came back at 3.15 to be told it still wasn’t ready and would be at least another 30mins It would have been nice to have been offered a drink or coffee somewhere while we waited instead of been told to come back again ! The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was lovely and good quality products used The staff were very friendly and helpful with good local knowledge

Just off the boat, tired and heading for our accommodation with a long day ahead tomorrow. When we heard that they do a takeaway carvery it was ideal. You pay upfront for a polystyrene box, then you can stuff it full with whatever takes your fancy. If you can stand beef, chicken mexican, curry etc all in one box, thing ahead, reheat it in your microwave when you arrive and you're done. Great value.

We went to the Sunday carvery here: best to book as it is very busy on Sunday, especially for those who, perhaps staying self-catering, did not realize that the shops would be shut! The carvery was great and the staff were very accomodating: I requested an additional person at the last minute and they swapped tables about quite happily.

Me and my girlfriend Lynn arrived in the Caladh Inn on the Saturday afternoon, the turnstile doors to the hotel were very uninspiring and thought we had made a mistake, but once inside it was really nice, the receptionist was very friendly and courteous and couldn’t be more welcoming if we tried, unfortunately our room wasn’t quite ready but it was no issue and gave us a chance to wander the town and drive about, upon returning we were given our room between the lift and the actual room their is like a day room where you can play snooker on a full length table or sit on the sofas and watch the tv, our room was really nice, looked newly decorated, bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was very large and spacious and clean, we ate in the eleven restaurant and the carvery on our first night was fantastic and as much as you could take, but we didn’t do that lol, we then had drinks at the bar, staff were very friendly and helpful, the supervisor was more then a helpful upon our time there and made us feel very welcome indeed we spent a second night there and very much the same as the previous night, a hotel/inn that is in the rise 3 stars going 4 if you get shot of the green revolving doors for one similar to the eleven restaurant, all in all a great experience and no doubt we will visit again, thank you, Johnny and Lynn

The two course lunch menu at the Eleven restaurant provided either a starter and main or a main and dessert. We opted for the main and dessert. The carvery was lovely the meat was tender and plentiful, there was also a good selection of vegetables. It was difficult to choose which dessert to have because they all looked so tasty but I opted for the baked vanilla cheescake and was not disappointed. My husband had the tiramisu and he said it was delicious. Excellent value for money only sad we did not have time to revisit during our holiday.

Carvery on the Sunday was good. Two sittings, evening and lunch which was good. I booked but it was busy, people could wait and staff were helpful in finding a vacant table for others. I had the 3 course option which was £20.50. Salad bar looked good but went with soup. Warm and tasty. The main was good with a good portion of meat. The vegetables were a little dry but I accept that is how carvery usually is. Maybe some red cabbage or broad beans would do good, seemed a little restricted in vegetable choice. Desert was decent, I seen some people loading up big style but by then I was quite full. Drinks were pricey but it’s hotel prices I guess. Good service, good food.

I have had dinner in the caladh Inn several times over the years on trips to Stornoway but this time I'm afraid to say the carvery was not up to past standards. The meat was dry and not that great. The salad selection definitely lacked the choice of previous visits. Not sure if this is cost saving or new chef possibly but as there are few traditional restaurants in the town that cater for tourists, I would think back a couple of years and return to the way it was then...surely a gold mine!

Very grateful we were fitted in on a busy night. But I don't like carvary, so we took the menu option .... but we still had to step up to choose a pudding - no menu for that. We arrived in Stornoway by bicycle having cycled the 37miles from the ferry terminal at Tarbert (Harris). The ferry had arrived slightly late and by the time we arrived in Stornoway it was 8.50pm and most restaurants stop serving at around 9pm. A cab driver had suggested the Caladh Inn for their carvery and had given us directions. They could take us and there was secure storage for our bicycles. The carvery was very good. It was a real "life saver"!!

Alright we were starting to panic that food may not be on the menu when we made the novice tourist error of thinking we would have choices on a Sunday in StornawayThat aside the welcome and attention from the staff, who seemed to operate on the basis you pass a client needing attention you respond, so we were attended to efficiently by numerous waiters the odd manager type and half expected the chef to pop out the kitchen. It all worked well the buffet looked inviting but we stuck to the al a carte and received well prepared, tasty meals to a quality indicated by the type of restaurant at a price that was more than acceptable. No unnecessary constant asking if the meal was okay but we were asked. We enjoyed the meal and the friendly banter with the staff and in fact the chef handling the car very had time to respond to daft visitor questions.

This restaurant is very popular with people of all ages. You can choose from the buffet or have table service. Nice friendly staff who are keen to help. We had sirloin steak to share which came with 2 sirloin steaks, fries, mushrooms, tomatoes and pepper sauce. Very tasty. We had the buffet breakfast. Everything you need. Fresh fruit, fruit juices, yoghurt, bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans. Lots more. All nicely cooked.

Perhaps it was just an off night, but the wait staff seemed very uninterested and it wasn't as if they were busy. It is a large place with multiple wait staff and only about four other tables occupied at the time. It was very difficult to get instructions as to how the buffet worked, a long wait until someone came to assist with the roast. A hamburger came with absolutely nothing except a meat patty and a bun and it was impossible to get anyone's attention to ask for anything additional.

It is wide open with lots of tables and high ceilings, gives a cave like look to it, wheelchair accessible via a lift. Small bar next to the restaurant, service could do with improvement. Seem to wait ages to be served in the restaurant as well, there is a normal menu but also a carvery, price for two courses depends on what night of the week you are eating, thought it quite expensive on some nights,£18 or £19 I recall. Also had other food in metal keep warm containers and desserts in a fridge. The food was nice enough but a bit too canteenish for me.

Had the Sunday carvery three courses for £14.95,( half price for kids). Was told turkey was on the carvery but it was pork and beef which my daughter doesn't eat. The chef apologised and returned with two chicken breasts for a delighted little girl. The carvery itself and the accompanying veg/Yorkshires / gravy were fab and the soup and cheesecake were also very nice. Well worth the money and a firm recommendation from me.

The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide choice of options. We had dinner on two nights. On Sunday it was served in the main dining room and on Monday in the bar/pub.
