Had a coffee and UNLIMTED toast. The unlimited was a joke. I was kept waiting and then one extra sliced was delivered after 30 minutes wait. Don’t advertise it if you don’t want to supply. Why embarrass yourselves, your staff and your customers. Will not return.

This cafe is decorated so amazing!! It's so family friendly and super instagrammable. The food is fabulous, in particular I love the rainbow bagels. It feels like such a safe and friendly space, I come with crafty pals, friends with kids/babies or to hang out and have a celebratory drink. Lovely, kind staff are always super helpful and they're incredibly allergy conscious which is very important to me as a nut allergy sufferer. Would recommend for any occasion!

Incredible food and service! This was our first time at the Red Lion, we called in on a Wednesday lunch time as we were passing through the area, we expected decent pub grub, what we got was nothing short of the best lunch we’ve ever eaten! The garlic mushroom gratin is fresh, full of flavour and big enough for 2 to share! We then had the yorkshire puddings, one with beef, one with chicken - both were amazing. The portions are huge (they’re more than happy to give you boxes to take your leftovers home) the meat is very well seasoned and tender and the chips are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned perfectly - no need to add salt and pepper here! We will be back and we will be telling all our friends and family this place is worth the trip out … what a find! :)

Went were a drink and something to eat having seen the pub on the Web with reviews. When I parked a lady came out and said they were closed, permanently. Very disappointing as there was no information to suggest otherwise. The Thompson Arms is only operating as a B & B now so there are no pubs in Flaxton.

The Fat Badger is the perfect place to enjoy a beer or cocktail in the late afternoon. It has a nice bar - but the real feature is their amazing “secret garden” on an upper level out back. You can sit in the sun, or under an umbrella, in a lovely flowered courtyard alongside the mideavil wall. After you break you can walk out and climb up the steps to walk around the old city! What a perfect place!

We booked Christmas meal for 6 on 20th Dec 22. We were given a room to ourselves which was nice , our waiter was good very friendly. The meal was the worst Christmas meal we had. Turkey fine, the vegetables were rock hard and the amount per person was terrible including 3 very hard runner beans , 5 Half Brussel sprouts ( too hard to put the fork in ( even waiter couldn't) and 2 pieces of another veg it appeared that who ever was in the kitchen had taken the portions out of the freezer and hadn't microwaved them long enough. The desserts were passible but not great , then we came to mince pies, pies is not the word ( one bite) we would use they were not much bigger than a fifty pence piece with a spread of filling no bits just a brown gel. The waiter was most apologetic and offered us free drinks but as there was 4 elderly and 2 drivers the drinks were 4 soft drinks and 1 half pint that didn't equal a lot of money. We paid £179.70 for these meals. I realise that the price also includes wages , heating etc but we have had many meals out and this is by far the worst.

After visiting the Monet Exhibition, we were going to use the Terrace Bar upstairs but it was raining, so we waited quite a while to get a table downstairs, wish we had not. If you enter from the gallery it does not say table service if you come in from the street, it does. We waited to be served, took ages to place our order. We eventually got someone’s attention to take our order. Two Earl Grey Teas, Cajun Prawns and a Cheese and Ham toastie. Only one small tea pot with two tea bags, and a tiny jug of hot water. Two small cups, they had run out of teapots. The food was poorly presented for the money, the Prawns were served on one slice of toast. No salad with Toastie just a chutney, which I don’t like. We were charged for one tea. Would not recommend.

Had breakfast whilst staying at the hotel. Breakfast plentiful- loads to pick from. Was being well stocked and kept clean by hardworking staff. A staff member cleaned down our table and chairs before we sat down.

It’s a great cafe during the day with. a great selection of delicious sandwiches, wraps, pastries etc to grab and go or sit down and enjoy. The breakfasts teas and coffees are really nice too all served in nice old china. We’ve also been for drinks on a Friday night with friends. They have beer and wine and some delicious platters. The staff are always lovely and your dog will get a little bite to eat too!
