Found this place by accident but glad we did. Had an amazing experience enhanced by Danny our waiter. Nothing was to much trouble, food delivered with a smile. The outdoor area felt like we was abroad with plenty of heaters. Food was amazing and good portions. Would definately come back when visiting York again.

We sat outside in the court for dinner. February but we were perfectly warm under the efficient heaters. We both started with fried Calamari which was well cooked. My wife had mushroom risotto which she said was very nice, I had pepperoni pizza and it really very good. Service was okay but just felt a little chaotic. Glad we went, would we go back?

From start to the end of our meal the staff at Lucia were excellent. Apart from the service and food which was perfect. Special thanks to Alex who went over and above sorting out some gifts for my daughter who is called Lucia as we can never find gifts with her name on,

Tried booking a meal at Lucia's York - phoned the restaurant and was told to book online. Went online and tried to book for 4 people, website bumbled and booked for 2 erroneously. Tried to amend online unsuccessfully.....then called the restaurant to change reservation. 3 times. phone answered and then call dropped. WHAT A NIGHTMARE !!!! Will pop into a restaurant on the hoof instead. Meals hit and miss so not a loss. Thanks for nothing - and Lucia's now offers 'Bespoke booking with concierge'......what a hoot. How about basic booking by any means necessary ;(

We have been for my birthday visit for lunch and I must say that Jaden the young lady as the Hostess was the nicest and friendliest host we have ever come across. Such a warm welcome with a smile. We really enjoyed it so much we have come back this evening to see Jaden still with a big smile. Such a credit to Lucia to have such a wonderful person as your first point of contact.

We went to York today after many months of staying at home due to the pandemic. We went to our very favourite haunt - Lucia’s Restaurant - as always the staff and atmosphere and the food were all superb. We were mainly waited upon by the lovely Fedirica (not sure how to spell the name). We had a long - leisurely lunch - enjoying a starter of gin and tonic! A tip! If you want a table at Lucia’s at lunch time - go early! Dd

Service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was full so had a lovely drink to start off our meal. Very tasty plate of Sea Bass and Saffron risotto.

Tucked away in Swinegate Court you could easily walk past this lovely little restaurant as it's fronted by an Italian Coffee shop and Pasticceria. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and I was given the choice of dining inside or in the small heated courtyard. It was great to dine outside and it certainly added to the dining experience. The garlic flatbread was a little too overdone for my taste but was really tasty. The Casarecce Arribbiata - artisan pasta with chicken, spicy sausage, tomatoes with a touch of chilli and garlic - was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you'r in York and looking for fresh, lovely Italian food in a great setting. Thoroughly recommend. PS The Cappuccinos are wonderful , so if you're looking for coffee and cake - look no further!!

We popped in for a mid afternoon coffee with "something sweet" and were excited by the delicious array of Italian biscuits and pastries in the counter display - they looked fresh, tempting, well labelled and just the job to have with a cappuccino. We ordered a selection of 4, going to the counter to point out to the server which ones we'd like. Coffees arrived. Very nice. About halfway through the coffee , I was getting a bit perplexed that by the time the pastries had made the journey from the counter (six feet away from our table) to the table, we'd have run out of coffee to enjoy them with. The cafe was not busy, the server had disappeared; another staff member was sat at a table doing what looked like accounts. We finished coffee. Got up and paid, which we did to the very server who had taken our order. She clearly had no recollection of the pastries we had chosen and expected. We smiled, thanked her and left. The coffee was nice. We can't comment on the pastries as we never got them. Ho hum. Maybe focus a bit more of the customers?

Browsing around York this morning we came across Lucia Style, it looks really inviting from the outside so we decided to try it for a change. We had coffee and croissants which were delicious and the coffee was excellent. We will definitely be returning to try the lunch menu!

No volvería

Popped in for coffee mid-morning. Nice bright layout, interesting variety of Italian delicacies and a good latte. Never had an aragostine before, but the pistachio flavoured ones we tried were first class. Recommended.

Looks like a lovely coffee shop, ordered two afternoon teas as it looked impressive but unfortunately was disappointing. Sandwiches did not have a great deal of filling mostly caesar sauce and hardly any chicken, we also got the salmon. The scones with clotted cream and jam was the most enjoyable part. The 8 Italian biscotties was not nice, we had one bite of 6 out of the 8 and all tasted the same cheap style chocolate or lemon filling nothing nice about them at all. So they got left. Would not have a afternoon tea from here again. The special coffees looked nice and wish I had ordered one of this instead. The staff was friendly and nice.

We stumbled across this cafe while exploring the quieter streets of York. Friendly staff and good efficient service. My husband had a pot of tea while I had a glass of orange juice and a slice of their chocolate, toffee and pear cake which was divine. Nice ambience in the cafe and being surrounded by Italian food automatically took us back to the holidays we have had in Italy. Being near Christmas time the cafe was full of Italian Christmas cakes and other Italian goodies (including wine and Limoncello) and these would make ideal presents.

On a Saturday morning when York was packed with many people either going to graduations or the races, we came across Lucia whilst looking to have a cup of coffee. What a lovely quiet corner it proved to be. The coffee was excellent as was their selection of Italian biscuits and nibbles.

Great restuarant in the centre of city but in a courtyard of the main streets. Be sure to check it out. Seating inside and out with a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. Tapas style dishes are available as well as the normal menu. Excellent service in a superb location and great atmosphere.

We had a 30 m. wait but it was a Friday night with lovely weather. They have a small inside area but very large outside seating. They didn't even turn on the heaters. Pizza selection was good. Also pasta. One in the party ordered seafood and dessert. Overall nice lively evening.

I must say this is a really nice place, an airy and clean looking establishment. Very good coffee served by a personable young lady. I tried a crispy chocolate biscuit confection, can't remember the name but it was excellent. In sum, a good place to visit.

Saw this for first time last September just before my birthday, so taken by counter of apparently delicious small pastries, visited the next Monday with friend for pre-birthday treat:afternoon tea. What a LET DOWN! Aside of the poorly worded & therefore confusing options menu and the poor listening skills of our waitress (we asked if we could have 2 of the 3 fillings of sandwich as the menu suggested - & she said no, then arriving with 8 sandwiches all filled with cream cheese and salmon in really cheap bread - all tasting of nothing; could easily have had the brie in 4 pieces). The cakes were not unlike Patisserie Valerie, look promising but tasting of nothing & all fresh air/colouring. SUCH a disappointment. Yes this review is late - written but location not identifiable on site. Have just found my review in draft form so will now complete it as the venue, separate from the wine bar & eatery, is now listed.

Popped in here to get away from the madding crowd outside during the St Nicholas Fair weekend when York appeared to have tripled its population. Glad we did. We had very nice coffee and very nice cake served very efficiently by a bevy of very pleasant and chic young ladies. Reminiscent of Carluccios in style but a more pleasing ambience. Yes its more expensive than many less salubrious cafes but compared to Bettys prices and the market trader charging £3 for a simple pork pie (now that is a St Nicholas fair rip off) I thought it presented value for money. We shall call in again on one of our frequent trips to York.

Used to be one of our favourite dinning places in York until recently when we noticed that over the last couple of visits, the quality of food served has seriously deteriorated. There are several other adjacent dinning venues which offer better food and good value for your money.

Incredible food and service! This was our first time at the Red Lion, we called in on a Wednesday lunch time as we were passing through the area, we expected decent pub grub, what we got was nothing short of the best lunch we’ve ever eaten! The garlic mushroom gratin is fresh, full of flavour and big enough for 2 to share! We then had the yorkshire puddings, one with beef, one with chicken - both were amazing. The portions are huge (they’re more than happy to give you boxes to take your leftovers home) the meat is very well seasoned and tender and the chips are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned perfectly - no need to add salt and pepper here! We will be back and we will be telling all our friends and family this place is worth the trip out … what a find! :)
