Dusk in York

Love this bar! Price and drinks good, however staff make me feel unwelcomed.

Feel like the staff hate us! Staff not keen to work here! Staff are so rude!

This is my favourite bar but everytime I come here I feel let down by the attitudes of the staff. I wish they were more friendly and would speak louder

I usually love this place, but I ended up going the other night to get 241 cocktails (on a day which is specified as having the deal available) just to be denied and have to spend full price on cocktails that we weren’t able to finish due to them being poorly made after they ran out of a spirit for the drink

This was the most chill and insanely interesting spot to drink at, the drinks (we had at happy hour 2 for the price of one cocktails) were phenomenal I recommend the Graham Norton 100% The bar staff were quite lovely and chill, and though I didn’t try the food it looks mind blowingly delicious! Fun names for cocktails is a big highlight though, a bit of a conversation starter. I recorded a moment at the place, to show others the vibes of locations I’ve traveled/visited and this was worth the moment indeed.

No me sorprende que este lugar está recibiendo malas críticas. Personal grosero y pomposo “dueño” que sabe todo “mejor”. Normalmente no doy malas críticas, ya que me encanta apoyar a las pequeñas empresas, pero este lugar debe evitarse. Lugar muy antihigiénico e inmundo, mal servicio, sin ambiente. Tenga en cuenta que las bebidas son baratas por una razón (sin sabor y sin alcohol) .

Good drinks, but far too loud to have a conversation which undermines the point of the venue.

Pizzas are tasty and drinks are nice too, however the attitude from certain staff really lets the place down. Being snapped at with sarcastic comments when just trying to make conversation is really off-putting and makes you feel unwanted, so we didn’t stay after we had finished our drinks. I will say it wasn’t all staff, and appreciate the place was busy, but one in particular seemed to take a strange and immediate dislike to our group and kept coming with rude comments and looks of disdain. Not sure if she just didn’t like the look of us but it really put me off wanting to go back, which is a shame because for York city centre the value is good for the foods and drinks.

ABSOLUTELY SMASHING. MY GOODNESS WHAT A BANGING LITTLE PLACE. Let down by another place, popped in, blooming smashed it. Pizza, incredible. Drinks, wet and cold. Price, absolutely sensational. Cat drawing at the bar, fantastical. Solved an iniment hangry melt down for the husband. 11/10.

I revisited this place after a prior bad experience and Rhi was amazing and so is their milky bar cocktail. my friends and I can’t stop coming back 🫶

If, unlike me, you're young and love a cocktail this is a great spot.

Great vibes, cool place, and the opening staff the next day were very friendly and found my girlfriend’s wallet when they lost it.

Lovely find, stumbled across it and glad we did. Excellent selection of beers, cocktails (including non alcoholic), even the flat white coffee was amazing, definitely not the Costa rubbish.

Popped in for a coffee and a bite about 2pm, the coffee was excellent as was the pizza slice. Well priced. Nice friendly staff, good vibe.

A great place to go particularly in late afternoons after the coffee shops have closed and before the pubs have opened.

Dusk has its own little vibe and now they have a new bar it seems even better than before great staff and some decent cocktails to boot x

Used to visit for lunch when visiting York. We were surprised to see it had been refurbished and to be fair we weren't that impressed. New menu is pizza only, no atmosphere at all. This place used to be fairly busy and had a good menu and cocktail offers. Disappointed, ended up next door.

This was one of my favourite bars as a student (long live the Milky Bar Kid) but this time around I was popping in to try their Crooked Slice pizza. I got a slice of Truffle Mushroom which really impressed me: sumptuous toppings on wonderfully soft sourdough.

Extremely disappointed and disgusted to find a bar that "prides themselves on inclusivity" banned my trans friend simply for using the bathroom.

Incredibly disappointed that a venue that prides itself on inclusivity and acceptance then turns around and bars my friend simply for her gender identity. If this establishment refuses to allow trans people the right to use the bathroom whilst also having the trans flag up on the premesis then I will no longer be visiting whenever I'm in York.

They barred my friend for being transgender and have since started flying the trans flag in the window for pride month

Called into dusk today for the first time,all I can say is the staff was amazing and very friendly,also know a lot about there cocktails,tried a few and they were out of this world. The atmosphere was relaxing for the time of day and made it a pleasant environment to have drinks with my family. Well done dusk,I will definitely come back,next time I'm in york 5⭐️ as can't give 6 lol Andy

Fresh makeover, very hot very nice just like their pizza! Fail we may, sail we must but boy do these not fail! Pls can we have more fruit cocktails tho, too many bitter. Justice for Paul Mezcal and not Mez-Quito, it was right in front of you!!!

I was sat here having a last quiet pint when I got surrounded by youngsters who it turned out I taught at primary school taking the p#@s cos I was drinking cider They said hello

Absolutely shocking, sold me an off pint that I drink in my home city and told me it was fine. Made me pay for another after throwing my full pint away that I had one sip of . Looked dirty inside , can imagine they don't know how to keep pipes clean and a good pint. If they had anything about them I think they would have accepted the truth.

Polite friendly staff good choice of beer and spirits

Called in for drinks on a cold rainy day after enough walking around York. Staff were very nice & polite.

We were a group of 4, and had a very odd experience here. We were having what we thought was a perfectly pleasant post dinner drink but noticed a girl who we thought was a customer frequently walking past us and catching our eye with glaring looks. We thought she was just a drunk customer so we just ignored it. Later in the evening when people were dancing in the bar one of our group of 4 was dancing and within seconds the girl screamed (and I do mean screamed) across the bar that we had to get out. It would seem that she was the manager or at least the most in charge and the bar staff when we paid said they were fearful of her! Needless to say we did leave immediately. It was an entirely bizarre experience. Needless to say we will never go back and would strongly advise avoiding this bar.

Nice enough pub, not many real ales but if your into larger or cocktails then you will like this place.

Has improved a lot in the last year or so, drink prices during 2-4-1 are hard to beat anywhere else, good service and nice atmosphere. Been coming here for years but it's definitely feeling like a nicer place to get a drink or two.

I witnessed a female chef shouting at a homeless man forcing him to move some very heavily looking bins and he was struggling it was disgusting behaviour no matter what he had done he did not deserve that attitude towards him I would avoid this place just from that one interaction.

Great pizza, amazing staff and good prices... Lived in York for years and never been before, been twice now and excellent every time! On our go to list now. Would recommend the cheese pizza, fresh, crispy base, brilliant toppings, simple but very very good.

Bouncers on a power trip, let our group of girls in ahead of us but got aggressive with their partners when we tried to enter. Really disappointed

Basic but in a good way. When the touristy bits of york get a bit much it's a nice relief. Throw a few candles or glowy lights on the tables and it would be a place to linger for longer.

Great little bar with good atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I went in for some drinks Friday evening. Waited at the bar to be served. We get served, get asked for ID (standard that’s fine), we’re both 22 for context. To which the lady is insanely rude passing around my girlfriends ID round her colleagues laughing at it (but not in a banter-y way, just straight up rude). Then she proceeds to give me the same treatment, saying ah no way you’re old enough. It was just incredibly patronising and rude - she didn’t even laugh it off. Genuinely put me off ever going back, why would I give my business to a place that treats its customers like that.

Not the most impressive bar in York but the staff were friendly enough and the beer was ok.

Lovely Atmosphere, Loud Alt Music, Fantastic Drinks. MilkyBar Kid is a fan favourite. 2-4-1 cocktails make it even better. One of the stops you should take on a bar crawl in York. Still hasn't changed 2018-2023

Rude bar staff whom chatted away whilst my friend and I waited to be served. Terrible customer service.

We had lunch here during a trip up to York on Friday and really enjoyed it. Bugs Bunny burgers with chips, onion rings, and mochas - all delicious. The lady who served us was very nice too (I didn't get the name unfortunately). Definitely going to be top of our list for food if we come back again.

A hidden gem in a beautiful city. The place was quiet and had a very relaxed atmosphere, a great selection of drinks to choose from. The food menu whilst small, has some great dishes to offer. The food we had was lovely and the hygiene was spot on. The server was polite and made the trip better than most. 10/10, will be going again

Literally the sweetest staff ever. I have embarrassingly ended up fainting but I was helped right away. I felt so safe :) also the drinks are really nice too

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND served by a staff member who did not once say please...used her hands to add fruit to the drinks (didn't wash her hands!! don't know when she last did!!!, also had chipped nail varnish which is a personal pet hate) service was appalling!! Will not visit again!! as a bar manager I really wouldn't tolerate this sort of rude service...I don't post this lightly as I hate to judge a place on one poor experience but it really was awful!!

Very grubby and smelly (urine) outside. Wanted to grab some food before a ghost walk. Arrived around 5.30pm, staff were having a meeting, the guy left covering the bar didn't know when the chefs would be back in the kitchen but thought maybe half hour but he would let us know when they were back, so we grabbed a drink and waited. Around 45mins later a staff member came out saying it would likely be another hour at least so we'd best go elsewhere. During the next few mins half dozen of the staff sat out front smoking. Thank you for ushering us away, we found a much better and more comfortable place to eat.

Love this place, staff are great very friendly. Place has a cool vibe & it's very reasonable.

Great little bar hidden down the side street, get away from the crowd's and have a nice cheap pint.
