Lovely pub on a busy corner, yet never too busy inside! Mainly there for after work food and drinks. Moderate range of drinks

We had the festive menus and the Turkey was not great. Processed meat full of water. It was a shame as the waiter/barman could not have been more attentive!

Lovely staff, had our Christmas party here and they were all lovely! Food was delicious and the drinks were fab! X

Stop before go to Edinburgh. The place is spacious, comfortable. The fried chicken wings are very tasty.

The Windmill lnn is a large spacious traditional street corner pub close to the historic city walls. There is a wide range of beers, lager and cider, including four hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The cask ales i tried were in excellent condition. There is an outside seating area at the back of the pub, and there is a dart board and pool table in the bar. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I haven't tried the food, so i can't comment, but it is a popular place to eat. A great dog friendly real ale pub highly recommended.

Friendly staff and good food which was brought out without any delays and was hot. Prices were reasonable as well. We've eaten there plenty of times without any problems or issues. Will be returning next time we're in York.

Love this place, go in all the time. Staff are fun and friendly, food is nice, loads of screens for the sports, pool table and darts too. The kids enjoy it also and to top it off the prices aren't bad....especially if you have the greene king sport app which gives you a QR code to scan at the bar for discounted drinks.

We came yesterday for lunch and when it arrived the cauliflower was hard and the broccoli was stone cold. We complained but was offered a desert. Nothing said about replacing the lunch with a hot one.very disappointed.

Friendly staff and absolutely delicious burgers. Five minutes walk from York railway station and next to a premier inn. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately lots of menu choices unavailable. Sunday roast, fish and chips, beef and Ale pie, chicken pie and scampi and chips all off the menu. It meant the vegetarian member of our party had very little choice. Food, when it came out, was reasonable and staff were friendly.

Harldy anone in the pub and it still took a while to get served, however they are very nice bar staff and put the football on for us.

On race day, there was not much service, only two servers behind the bar. Was also told at 11.55, we could only order bacon butties but at 12.05, staff were bringing out steaks and chips for other customers. If only one of the two staff members told us to wait. The pub itself is decent with a good choice of drink.

Ordered breakfast at 11:30 and tried ordering chicken from the all day menu . Chef shouting all day menu starts at 12 . Staff didn't want to argue with him . Fairly long wait as it had become busy . Otherwise decent food and drinks .

Popped in for lunch after arriving in York on the train. Quick, friendly service. My husband had the veggie mushroom chilli - was wonderfully spicy as chilli should be. I had the honeyed halloumi on flatbread. Chef wasn't shy with the halloumi- absolutely gorgeous. Both meals perfect with a pint of IPA.

Warm and a nice place! Delicious burguer and many options of cocktails! Worth it a visit when you are in York! Highly recommend

Had a cheap quick tea after school. Was lovely and not to busy at that time. People were starting to arrive for after work drinks as we left but the atmosphere was still calm.

Me and my girlfriend came in for lunch and got recommended the burger of the month by Siobhan and it was sublime. She also let us know that carling was on offer which was amazing, overall a very pleasant experience with a kind and talkative bar woman, would recommend to anyone in York

The food was great! Had the bacon blue cheese burger and it was stellar. In addition to food and drinks, they also have pool and darts! So it was an incredibly fun and satisfying experience! We left laughing and happy. The staff was fantastic!!!

Wonderful place for my daughter and myself this evening. We're only here for a few days and decided to call on our way back to the hotel. It's a lovely presented little pub with a great atmosphere. The food we had was lovely, served quickly by a lovely young man. The deserts were to die for. (God help my diet! 🙈. Highly recommend 👌

Great greene king with a good selection of food and beer on show.

Just another chain pub where the staff couldn't give a monkeys about the customers. They stuck the prices up on Saturday because it was a raceday. This is an absolute disgrace. Why should regular customers be penalised just because it's a raceday? £11.05 for a pint of Guinness and a pint of Carling. What a complete rip off. They don't put prices up to pay for extra staff. They put prices up, because they want to extract as much money from people as possible. It's not my local pub, but I do pop in now and again. I won't be back.

Took the family here pre cinema for some lunch. Large food choice, relaxed atmosphere and good, honest food. Very well priced also so would recommend

Great location next to station. We ordered the loaded fries buffalo and katsu they were delicious and filling. The kids make your own tacos were super and so fun for kids the bacon cheese burger brought a smile to my other daughter. A Fabulous feed for the family before our 5 hrs train trip home......the kids asking can we come back again. Service was great and the member of staff who served our food was super welcoming. 👌

Horrendous service. Booked a table to watch one of the euro 2024 games, asking for a table where we can see the game. This pub heavily advertised the euro 2024 games and called itself as a sports pub. On the day they were terribly understaffed and the only person serving honestly couldn't even be asked to put on the game. After asking 2 times and after the first 5 minutes of the game have already passed, he put on the game but we had to ask one more time for him to remember to put on the sound 😂 Overall one of the worst places in York

Had a steak dinner. A lovely pint too. It's massive with plenty of seating. Bar staff friendly. And the food was great. Recommend going.

Looks very good and actually is very good until you come to the details like playing pool where you need a 5 quid cash deposit (who carries cash these days) plus 1.50 to play and then out drinks were literally removed from us at 1115 because it was 'his licence' if he didn't. Really took the edge off what was otherwise a nice evening

It's your typical sports bar, some decent beers and great staff.

Great place for food and atmosphere for football and drinks. The staff were friendly and attentive. Happy to switch over channels and check with tables if everyone was happy with it. I had 2 small plates,chicken and corn bites and they were ok and when turned up it was hot.

Was referred by relatives to come for supper. Smooth process of finding a table and ordering, they accepted cash or card, food came out pretty quickly. Food was pretty good, portions decently sized but not enormous. Staff was very friendly, good experience overall.

Asked for a pint of hand pulled beer, lad struggled to pull it properly, his colleague suggested topping it up with a different beer. Didn't listen to me telling him the barrel needed changing consequently it looked and tasted like it was straight out of the river.

Called in to watch the grand national before going on to have my birthday meal the pub was full and a lovely atmosphere service was good will definitely call in again

Was recommended by a local! Bellies fully fed after a long day of travel - thank goodness it was open late on a Sunday when many others were shut. Kind, considerate staff; hearty, filling food; easy and decent meal options ordering from app; Jameson shots at the ready.... The Windmill Inn saved our family trip from a meltdown. Thank you for a safe space to regain our bearings before exploring the beautiful city York. 💞

Family day out 4 adults and 2 kids all hungry half the meals were cold sent back came back 5 mins later they just refried the chips and sent meal back out

First time visiting ordered the mix grill after searching most places in York and this is absolutely by far the best yet. The meats were all cooked perfectly even the chicken that I usually find is dry and overcooked. the egg was clean and runny decent chips lovely onion rings and the service is spot on. We will be regulars from now on. The friendly service is an added bonus too.

The Windmill is a busy pub at the junction of Micklegate Bar heading into York. The food is fairly standard Greene King pub grub and there is a good selection of drinks as well as plenty of seating, sports screens, a pool table and dartboard. Gets very busy when footy is being screened. Accessible toilets on the ground floor and friendly staff.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to junior who waited on our table. He was amazing, so kind and made so much effort to check how our food was and was super friendly and polite. Thank you junior! X

Quick service, food was pretty good. Not Great that the Vengaboys was blasting whilst we were eating our dinner. To be fair it's on me as I wanted to go somewhere fancy for dinner but this is more a typical British chain pub/restraunt Not a bad place all in all. Staff were friendly 🤘🏻

Had a decent meal here. Nice, accommodating staff, decent range of drinks/ales and a pool table that was available to entertain my 9 year old! The fish and chips were decent and the pies in particular were excellent. All reasonably priced. Overall, exceeded expectations. Thank you!

We were here to watch football game. The atmosphere is very nice and we ordered chicken wings, squid and chicken strips. The food is delicious. Also, the waiters are very friendly.

It was quite busy when we arrived as a party of 6, (2 adults, 4 kids). We initially struggled to find a seat, as several large tables were reserved, and the others occupied. The bar staff were helpful in accommodating us by juggling the reservations, as these appeared to be for the later England match. Good was ordered, and arrived without much delay, however one of them was incorrect, arriving which mash instead of the requested chips, which was eventually replaced. The majority of the food was good, but the steak and ale pie was very over cooked, to the point of being almost burned. The filling was tasty, but the pastry was very dry and tough. A good selection of cask ales on offer, however the chosen Abbot Ale was not at its best and quite disappointing. Possibly just a little long in the tooth, but whilst still being clear, was not 'bright' in any sense.

Visiting for the night and booked a table here to watch the Utd and Liverpool match. On booking form online I requested a seat with a view of the tv. We got great seats, food was perfect and the you lad serving on the day couldn’t do more for you.

Have visited the windmill on several occasions and always had a good experience. Decent pub food, nice atmosphere, good bar service and a wide variety of entertainment options, whether that’s sport on the TV or a game of pool or darts. Can’t fault the staff, always friendly even when busy.

Friendly environment, good atmosphere and excellent sports bar. Lovely food and good value. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (I think the one in charge was called John). I will definitely be back.

Popped in at lunchtime while in York doing the Snooks Trail and enjoyed the food so much that we went again in the evening. Scampi and Hunters Chicken were excellent and great value for money on the lunchtime menu as was the Mac Cheese later on. Enjoyed the Oatmeal Stout too ! Friendly staff and clean toilets. Will return again next time we are in York.

Worst Roast Dinner Ever, cold meat, lumpy cold gravy, roast potatoes cooked from frozen gross. Rock Hard Cauliflower. Don't waste your money.
