First ever visit to this large bar beside the river. Madge wanted the QR code for Cask Marque but could not find it displayed. ( A very common problem .. plus update phone and lose huge numbers of visited pubs..Boothroyd and I cannot be bothered because of this!) Two of four handpumos in use on my visit. Lovely pint of Ilkley brewery pale. Large open plan modern bar. Open terrace overlooking the river for sunnier days. Great view across the river to the often flooded King's Head.

Ordered a platter that we thought was a started….all the food came at once so the platter wasn’t really touched….the cauli wings burnt/over cooked, staff snotty….would we go back….ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!’

Cracking venue with unsurpassed views of the Ouse. Arguably a bit generic but what they do they do well. It's not traditional but it ticks boxes. And for once, their hot wings are hot!!

Ok place, not great. we paid to watch some boxing and when we got there they said they don’t show it. Never got my money back or even a reply to my complaint.

Nice pub at side of river, staff good, beer ok, but £8.30 for 2 halves of beer is a disgrace. Real ale drinkers avoid.

To advertise yourself as a Six Nations pub and then have to request the rugby to be played on the telly whilst also having to listen to David Guetta instead of any form of commentary means that you should not be allowed to advertise yourself as a Six Nations pub.

Great views over the River, food was spot on, service good and atmosphere was good, midweek visit so was quiet but would recommend and would return.

Olivia and Luke were our hosts. Olivia in particular was lovely. 10/10 service. We’re keeping us topped up with drinks the whole 2 hours. Definitely good value for money and service with a smile. Would definitely recommend.

Good to watch the sport. Toilets are very very poor and smell. Quite often slow to clear tables with empty glasses and plates left out

Such an amazing bottomless brunch place! We were looked after so well and it made my day as a bride with my bridesmaids so lovely! Luke was an amazing server and his memory for drinks is unreal! Such lovely staff and a lovely time!

It's hard for me to judge, I'm a foreigner here, so there wasn't any food I liked, but the locals must be fine here.

Great Bottomless Brunch with good food and great flow of drinks. The service was fast too. Olivia was brilliant, and is a great asset to the Tank and Paddle team. Really started my birthday weekend on a positive.

Get the Nachos! You will not regret it! Luke and Lewis are so welcoming and helpful! Will be coming in on a weekly basis from now on! Also dog friendly 🐕

Such a good bottomless brunch! Our server Maddie was so lovely, knowledgeable and attentive, we had the best time. Such good value for money and the food was genuinely delicious, I was expecting standard pub food but everything was cooked perfectly and the drinks were great quality too. Comfy armchairs and views of the river were beautiful too - 10/10 would come back!

We went here with family and from the start the staff were extremely busy and looked understaffed. They were also not friendly and the service was slow. The food was nothing short of shockingly bad. Two of us had the sharing platter. On both plates the garlic bread was burnt and the nachos had no sauce on, you could literally count the 5 or 6 boys of beef on them and were just totally dry. One of the party had a pizza and it was so overcooked, that it was like cardboard and inedible . I can’t overstate how bad the food was. I would not return here and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone!

Sticky table with lots of kennels on it + toilet no more bowl and no more pq and the food nothing exceptional and the cocktails not great compared to the menu too bad because the place is nice.

Very large pub with plenty of seating and tvs for watching sports on, disabled lift also for any disabled persons. Very good choice of drinks and nice staff behind the bar.

Great customer service last night at the tank and paddle. All screens showing the six nations which was being avidly watched, I asked for the Newcastle game and the helpful bar staff found me a few minutes later to direct me to a screen which they had put it on.

Fantastic service by Oliver made it very good experience 😃 I would definitely recommend as she explained everything very good and gave rapid drink service

We came for bottomless brunch - Olivia was our server and she was amazing. Never left us with an empty glass, friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. Food was nice. We also had a lovely view of the river. Would really recommend tank and paddle for bottomless as it’s great value for money and you can upgrade your drinks and food for only a fiver! Thank you Olivia, for making our experience so great, we will 100% be back .

Can't say enough how good this place is,been several times when we visit York the service by Kerry is exceptional and our breakfast cooked by Jim is as good if not better than a top hotel,it was fresh,hot,presented perfectly and cooked to high standard,the team you have at the tank and paddle is very friendly and professional,will always go there when coming back to york

Wish we could have stayed longer as epic beer choice including craft beers and ales. Great booths for watching sport and enjoying a beer.

A busy place and good atmosphere, good selection of drinks, although could have wiped the tables more as they were pretty sticky with spilt drinks.

Traditional bar, food is amazing. I love the avo & pesto Salad + extra chicken breast. 5 start taste. Also sweet corn is tasty as well. Real charcoal flavor. The bar have live sports. Located Main Street. Summer time would have opened riverside balcony. Will defo come back!

Perfect is the word for bottomless brunch here the staff were perfect very attentive and the drinks didn't miss a beat. I would highly recommend and so would my wife there was only 2 of us and the service was still brilliant seating overlooking the river and didn't disappoint on strength 👍🏼

This place is a regular for us over the years. The food is OK apart from the over priced mac and cheese which is definitely heinze with cheese on top. But you can't fault the nachos and burgers. This place is a joy to sit in . And the views of the river are amazing, specially in summer. We will definitely be back,

First time visit to this bar, really appealing as we walked in with great range of piped music, got to say the standard of cleanliness was poor with stuff on the floor including food & no attempt to wipe tables down when glasses were cleared, where on earth has the work ethic gone? It wasn’t madly busy, just steady so a poor show from staff!

Since its refurbishment and transformation this is easily one of my favourite bars in York. TVs for Sports but without the rowdy Sports Bar feel. Food has always been nice.

Food and drink options are really good and the staff are great but I think overall it's pretty expensive, even as far as York City Centre goes. That said there are some good offers at certain times like 2-4-1 cocktails.

We had a table for 12 booked for a 21st birthday celebration with all the family. We had a confirmation booking. The bar staff could not find the booking so got the manager, the manager was not helpful and said she could not help us, we just had to find a table, we asked her to help us find a table, seen as it was their error for not having our booking, and she told us she was too busy - not her problem!

Lovely family meal today at the Tank and Paddle in York. Big thank you to Hollie for helping me set up balloons for my children’s 21st birthday and the Prosecco! Lovely atmosphere and great staff.

Although the food was lovely, it was very very noisy to the point that our party of 6 could not have a conversation. Also, the much advertised order app was very poor and difficult to use.

Lovely food. Unfortunately on this visit, the garlic bread was like a rock but was replaced when asked. Some of the chips where cold but not end of world. The part that spoilt the evening was the staff trying to push everything through so fast. We ordered drinks sonee could look at menu but 2 mins later they are asking if we are ready to order? Then when we had food they started clearing plates while one of us was still eating and then asked the person that was still eating if they had finished with it?. Felt like they wanted to get things cleared for the next people. But we had come for a birthday and had only been 70 mins from arriving. However for fairness the time before we came everything was great so may just been an off day.

Amazing location, nice beer but mediocre overpriced food… more negative points for underwhelming portion sizes which meant needing 3 mains to fill the void for a small couple! Love the epic beer choice and views over the river. Came back to try the food expecting at least classic pub sized dishes. Went for the promising sounding “burrito bowl with slow cooked beef”… but what we got was a plate with a supermarket wrap lining with a small amount of rice and some very tame ragu with a tiny amount of beef mince somewhere to be found among the sauce. The chicken BBQ dish with fries was much better as the fries were delicious and chicken pretty good. But portion size was more like a starter… So we ordered a MacNCheese which was not particularly hot and just tasted like a ready meal with added mozzarella. On the other hand the service was incredibly quick whch is probably an upside of such pre made food! Overall a decent place just could be better food for that price.
