Not worth the money nice pint but the room overrated

Great staff decent pint hospitable made to feel welcome

Back to my local.Last landlady gone they were terrible?back to a friendly and sporty pub.Looking forward to seeing all the regulars back.

Great little pub friendly staff, kids park at the back just be careful says under 12s and our kids almost tipped the swing set.

Worth the price, room was pretty good, small but clean. Staff friendly, free parking. Recommend.

The Saddle Inn is a nice traditional pub. There is a good selection of beers lager and cider, including a cask conditioned hand-pulled real ale, which was in excellent condition when visited. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there is a nice beer garden behind the pub and a car park.

Bartender was accommodating and friendly. Drink were reasonably priced. One of few pubs to still hold a piano. Toilets are incredibly clean for a pubic house. Minor inconvenience for some but not a problem for the merely lightly intoxicated - to the left of the entryway the tiles are not flush with where the carpet ends.

Not one for writing reviews but this couldnt go unnoticed. Never been before until today and we will definitely be returning back. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were friendly, attentive and couldnt be any more accommodating to my family. The food was lovely, serving was quick from ordering drinks to food on the table. I was nervous about bring my 2 year old daughter into a weekend pub lunch environment....., how well she would settle, would she be accommodated. I couldn’t have asked for anything more, what a lovely experience. The attention my daughter was given was second to none with books to read, toys and puzzles to play. All the staff interacted with my daughter making her feel welcome and at home and part of the eating out experience. The first time my daughter stayed at the table throughout, enjoyed her meal without a melt down. This fantastic customer service enabled me to enjoy our meals and drinks. This kind of service is very rare but greatly appreciated. A Big Thank You One Happy Mummy and Daughter

We ate here on Monday evening, the food was fresh cooked and delicious with great choice. The staff were very friendly. Lovely atmosphere.

Popped in for evening meal , must have been a busy night as originally ordered fish and chips but none left , very accommodating to needs of not having the bread for the burger . Food did arrive after a longer than expected wait but the front of house did chase up order and let us know what was happening, they were clearly busy for food . Burgers arrived and full of flavour and nice touch to get sweet potato fries as standard rather than chips . We did wait for our meal but they were were very kind and reduced our bill . Expect to eat here and get your typical pub meal

Stayed for 4 nights. Room was ensuite, clean and comfortable. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and lots of it, set us up for the day and we didn't eat again until the evening. It is a traditional pub and seems popular with the locals which is a good sign. Very convenient for access to York, no need to use the car. A nice stroll along the river, or if not up to it you can get a bus which runs every 10 mins. If you do travel by bus you can get a family return ticket for £5.50.

We stayed close by and booked here on our last night, the welcome was friendly and the service very good, we were told that our food may take some time as they were very busy, it was worth waiting for.

We went there for the first time tonight. We were instantly welcomed by Rebecca and shown to a table. Excellent pint of Timothy Taylors and the girls had flavoured gin presented in special glasses. The menu was very comprehensive ranging from tasty pan fried scallops to rib eye steaks and a very good fish and chips. The total bill for six drinks and four substantial meals was just over £60. Great music and lovely atmosphere. We will go back there tomorrow, and Wednesday for the quiz.

Came here 3 times during our stay, very welcoming and friendly staff, quick service and good food. Will call in again if we go back.

Called in for a drink and pub seemed OK with a few locals in. Doesn't open in the week though until Thursday which was a shame. We think they are missing out as the Plough across the road was packed out with diners and drinkers when the Saddle and The Bay Horse were shut.

We visited to watch the match and enjoyed our visit with some nice food and a few drinks. The staff were very friendly and hospitable, creating a warm and welcoming feel.

We had dinner this evening and it was lovely to eat out again. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable they even allowed me to be picky and mix and match sliders from the meaty and veggie options. My wife had the nan bread pizza and I had beef, chicken and Hallumi sliders. We couldn't fault the food, it was delicious. As a hardened meat eater I found myself praising the hallumi and coleslaw which surprised even me! The chicken and beef sliders were also incredibly tasty. My wife thoroughly annoyed her pizza and we are already planning our next visit to try the rest of the menu.

Booked for dinner on Saturday's night. Service was very friendly. Food was delicious. Had the homemade chicken pie and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. I would recommend eating here.

Stayed for 3 nights and my wife and I loved being here the couple running this are so nice they can't do enough to make you so welcome breakfast was so filling it kept you going all day we will definitely be going back again for a few days as its so close to the city centre

It's such a shame that this once friendly pub has gone downhill. It used to be rated for it's friendliness but the bar manager now seems more intent on impressing a few regulars sitting at the bar than being attentive to her customers. The old manager was very nice and you felt welcome but now it seems to have a frosty atmosphere. Shame as the pub itself is nice. Just needs someone who actually likes people to run it.

Me alojé el lunes 3 a la mañana del viernes, personal muy amable, pub encantador con un ambiente tipo pueblo, la habitación en la que dijimos obviamente ha sido renovada, la pareja que recientemente tomó el pub está haciendo un gran trabajo tratando de volver a un buen estándar me quedé en junio pasado y no fue bueno, no LEAN NINGÚN INFORME ANTES DE NOVIEMBRE DE 2019 ES ESO CUANDO LOS NUEVOS PROPIETARIOS HAN PUBLICADO EL PUB Y ESTÁN HACIENDO UN GRAN TRABAJO

Apareció después de un viaje de cuatro horas que planeamos para adaptarse al intervalo de tiempo que podríamos reservar.No apareció un alma para ser vista.Golpeó las puertas en vano (hay algunos puntos), llamó a la línea fija, no obtuvo respuesta, llamó a la mudanza y recibió un mensaje de texto para informarnos que estaban ocupados y enviarles un mensaje. Examinó que estábamos allí para registrarnos y nunca obtuve una respuesta. Nunca he experimentado esto en mi vida. Terminamos saliendo y teniendo que ir a otro lado.Mi mejor consejo, evita este lugar a toda costa. Claramente, no son capaces de una hospitalidad básica y mucho menos de administrar un hotel.

No hay otros clientes en un viernes por la tarde. El pub olía a humedad y moho. El jardín de la cerveza es una trampa mortal. Se expusieron clavos oxidados pegados tanto en las mesas podridas como en los asientos. Pavimento irregular suelto. Viejos desperdicios y malas hierbas en lugar de flores. Muy decepcionado recuerdo cuando fue amado y cuidado. No volveremos

Ok, entonces no el Ritz! Pero habitaciones baratas y acogedoras, menaje para preparar té y café, cuarto de baño privado, ropa de cama limpia. El personal es muy amable y servicial, sugiriendo lugares para comer y enlaces de transporte. Lamentablemente, no sirves el desayuno, pero la tienda de sándwiches en la calle hace excelentes bollos de desayuno.Sin duda volvería de nuevo especialmente por el precio x

Han pasado muchos años desde la última vez que estuvimos en el Saddle Inn y tuvimos la oportunidad de conseguir una comida, pero esa noche no estaban haciendo comida. Más tarde, después de comer en otro lugar, volvimos al pub y tomamos un par de copas. Nos sentimos muy bienvenidos por la señora detrás del bar y uno de los clientes habituales. El pub se veía brillante y hacía bastante calor. Sin duda volvería si estamos en York de nuevo.

A very bog standard characterless old style pub with limited atmosphere. Its way behind the Plough as a pleasant place for a drink in Fulford. And behind the Bay Horse too for that matter.

Nous avons diné pour 12 £ par personne. C'est assez bon marché mais ça ne vaut pas plus... Ce n'est pas mauvais mais c'est sans originalité. En outre, nous avons eu l'impression d'être expédiés. Du fait qu'un quizz était prévu ce soir là, peut-être que nous gênions, mais dans ce cas, pourquoi avoir accepté de nous servir ?

Esta fue nuestra primera visita a este pub. El personal de este bar fue muy amable y atento. Nada era demasiado molesto para ellos, y al entrar y salir nos sentimos como uno de los clientes habituales. La comida era del típico bar y era sabrosa y agradable. Los precios fueron de niveles normales y resultaron ser muy razonables. Si volvemos a este lugar, sin duda usaremos este bar nuevamente.

Una comida muy agradable y una pinta con muchos habitantes y unos pocos turistas que llena en la cena. La decoración es espartana y rústico, pero el servicio era bueno y la comida bien preparada. Estaba a una corta distancia en coche de nuestro ser y ser así que cubrió nuestros planes.

Just popped in for a few drinks (which turned into many), everyone was friendly and we had a brilliant time there.

Era práctico para el Best Western York Pavillion hotel donde estábamos alojados. Queríamos una bebida antes de la fiesta nos íbamos, pero pensamos que puede ser un poco ruidoso para los otros huéspedes del hotel, así que decidimos una bebida en otro lugar sería buena idea. Nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos, no mucho debido a la hora del día, así que estábamos bien, y los hombres dieron a ver algunos fútbol antes de salir.

The sign outside the pub offers food but we were tod, when we went in on a Friday evening that they do not serve food. They need to make their minds up.,

Basic but clean staff lovely can not do enough for you..the food was amazing would defo recommend the risotto..10 mins from city center..Will definitely be staying there again :-)

If you're doing York on a budget. This is the place for you, extremely cheap, the place has a wonderful atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome! Room was tidy and well maintained. Will definitely return!

Stopped of on our way out of york, had a lovely meal in this bar restaurant , friendly staff and a nice place. Will defiantly be coming back it was sure a warm welcoming place.

Called in for food on the way home from the York Designer Outlet, first impressions were of a dated bar although the staff were welcoming when we approached but being from Eastern Europe didn't understand what we were ordering from the menu which was a mixed grill and a lasagne. The manager (I think in jogging pants and sweatshirt) set a table downstairs which took me back in years with a paper tablecloth and various designs of anaglypta wallpaper. My hubby said the mixed grill was good but it looked somewhat minimal for the £13.95 price tag, having been to other establishments, I for one did not think this was value for money.The lasagne I would rate a 3/10 was bland, came covered in Italian like seasoning rather than it being mixed in with the mince, the lasagne sheets were sticking to each other and congealing and there was something that looked like disintegrated bay leaves inside, (I hope they were bay leaves) but as no-one came to check after the first mouthful, couldn't raise comments with anyone, we paid upon ordering so left promptly upon finishing and won't be returning any time soon...not impressed.

Been going here every Thursday for 8 years and have seen many changes in Landlords. It was great that young couple ran it a few years ago great food always busy and Buster the dog to greet you. Well we called in last week and the lager glass had grime stuck to the inside of the glass as though it had been left out in the garden. We told the baramaid and she apologised. Well this week 13th June (unlucky for us) we ordered a pint of Carlsberg and a pint of Mansfield and low and behold both glasses had black bits and grime stuck to the inside of the beer glasses. THe barmaid poured our drinks into other glasses NO APOLOGY. Then the landlady came into the bar and started being nasty and aggressive "What was that?" she said in a threatening manner. Well we decided to leave and will never go back.
