The Birds Nest is the epitome of what a good cafe/restaurant should be. The staff are exceptional, all so well trained and encouraged by the Manager. All the staff are keen, polite and helpful. If ever there is a problem is is quickly and politely resolved. The atmosphere is joyous and the staff know their customers (and their foibles) well. Everyone is welcomed. The food, cakes and drinks are always excellent and always fresh. It is no wonder that Shrewsbury Market is so highly rated when there are places like this available.

Fantastic brownies. Really cheap and great atmosphere! The staff are so friendly ~ this is a brilliant local place. I definitely recommend to come here.

This venue is not closed. The one near St Julian Friars car park is still very much open! :) Me and my sister popped in for a white hot chocolate and a croissant and it was lovely! Super dog friendly, they have biscuits and water! They offer indoor and outdoor seating for the warmer times which is a lovely vibe! Would highly recommend :)

Poped in for coffe and cake with a friend. It was quite a wait to be served although there were at least 4 members of staff on duty and it wasn't that busy. The coffee was ok but the cake both my friend I had was a bit dry. This is the second occasion it has happened to my friend. We mentioned this when paying but only got a short 'sorry' as an apology. Unfortunately probably won't be rushing back, which is a shame as it is a lovely setting.

Visited to watch football match - seats and good view of screens were available. Ordered a few different drinks among out group. Good offer of 2 for £10 on cocktails - purple rain was ordered and was nice.

We have visited this place many times with much satisfaction. It has changed hands and is a disaster. I have never walked out of a restaurant before and I have never placed a review on Tripadvisor, Today I have done both! There are o longer any home cooked meals. I don’t blame them for that. It’s a business choice. We ordered a tea and a hot chocolate and two cheese and ham paninis. We were told there would be. Wait for the paninis. The tea was fine. The hot chocolate was very small and not hot. After half an hour there was still no panini. The family next to us got up and left after being told their panini would be another 20 mins. They had arrived before us. I asked at the counter whether there was a problem with our order. I was told no and that there were two tables ahead of us and then we would be served. They said that would be another 15 mins or so. I told them I didn’t have the time to wait any longer. We paid for the drinks and left. It was simple food. There was no excuse. They simply didn’t have the capacity to supply the simple dishes. Nor did they have any change! It was unbelievably rank amateur. Never again.

It's a great place to meet my buddy Matt and have a coffee . You can get toasted sandwiches with chips for example. The staff here are lovely , Amy for example has a friendly smiley face and asks how are you etc. It's not just food old people as one person said there are all ages here.

My friends and I judge a town (and coffee shops) by their bakewell tarts and this one is our current 1st place winner! It's not a formal competition, but the home made cakes here are out of this world and must be sampled (lots of times!). It's a lovely coffee bar and well worth the visit. We had 3 x bakewell tarts (plus more bought for take out), 2 x hot chocolates and 1 x pot of tea (no milk for the tea).

I popped into Café Nero for a quick break and enjoyed a decent coffee and a nice pain au chocolat. However, I was really disappointed by the state of the toilet facilities. While the front-of-house experience was pleasant, the bathroom was simply not acceptable. There was a visible layer of dust on most surfaces, the floor and tile grout were grimy, and there was a buildup of dirt around the taps that clearly hadn’t been addressed in a while. Most concerning was the presence of hair on the toilet seat — it all pointed to a serious need for a deep and thorough clean. It’s a shame, as it really took away from an otherwise enjoyable visit. I hope the management takes note and prioritises hygiene going forward.
