My friends and I judge a town (and coffee shops) by their bakewell tarts and this one is our current 1st place winner! It's not a formal competition, but the home made cakes here are out of this world and must be sampled (lots of times!). It's a lovely coffee bar and well worth the visit. We had 3 x bakewell tarts (plus more bought for take out), 2 x hot chocolates and 1 x pot of tea (no milk for the tea).

Always a warm welcome with some of the best coffee in town. Julie's home baked cakes are too good really but good for business in the adjoining gym.

Cant understand a previous bad review. This is a great little cafe with the best homemade cakes, made by Julie the owner.

Just been to sprinters with my family and friends from Cornwall and spent a relaxing hour here. The food was delicious, the cakes were homemade and exceptional. We sat on the comfy leather sofas at the back of the coffee shop, it was so relaxing, a real oasis! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Look forward to our next weekly visit. Thank you for making us and our cornish friends so welcome. Highly recommended.

Busy Bank holiday weekend, but dead in here. Weird atmosphere and setup. Just thought we,d have a quick coffee and sandwich and we only stayed due to the rain instead of finding elsewhere more appealing. The owner was sat having his own lunch on one table, how unprofessional. Only him serving. We ordered sandwiches. What could go wrong? Never in my life have I ever seen presentation like it, regret not taking a photo! A child of 8 could have presented better. Thrown on a plate the most basic butty and thrown on broken crisps. Shocked that they call themselves a business and cafe. Worst ever sandwiches we had ever seen. Mould on the bread, never asked if liked brown but got it!!Will never visit again, some reviews are exactly what we experienced and why this place is empty.

We sat outside and enjoyed watching the world go by in this interesting and historic location. The coffee was good and strong and we chose two slices from the bespoke home baking selection of cakes with interesting ingredients. Quick service, good portions and friendly staff, with reasonable prices. Plenty of inside seating and an eye catching exterior.

We choice this cafe because of the coffee brand they serve and it said homemade cakes. We were really pleased with the great service, coffee and Julie’s home made cakes. It’s clean and friendly and we were surprised that it was actually the cafe of a gym which was upstairs. Hence the name. We didn’t use the gym! A great fund, would definitely go there again if in Shrewsbury. Great small independents. Love them and support them at every opportunity.

What a place! Great service with a variety of drinks and cakes... The size of each dice of cake is quite large, which is a good thing as they taste amazing! The only problem with this place is that they don’t have a recipe book with all the recipes for the cakes in it as I would definitely buy!

In this world of big chain coffee shops, where your a cash cow rather than a customer, it’s so nice to find a small independent coffee shop where your treated as a person. Great coffee, reasonable pricing and friendly staff that talk to you like an old friend. I highly recommended this oasis, anytime you feel the need to escape the rat race.

I don't like to give negative feedback but I'm amazed at how this place has gone down hill in less than 6 months, was nice coffee and cake shop last October, should have read the signs by being the only person in on a Saturday afternoon when elsewhere was busy... Barely drinkable coffee, music too loud and empty, drank half and left

This is a nice coffee bar, nice and relaxing with comfy sofas aswell as tables and chairs. The drinks were reasonably priced but the mugs were only 3/4 full. We didn't try any food. It wasn't busy and there were two staff behind the counter but service wasn't great. It wasn't clear whether it was counter service or table service. I would visit again, but not if I was in a hurry.

Visiting Shrewsbury between Xmas and new year, we wanted a coffee and a sit down. All of the usual places (Costa, Starbucks etc.) were rammed, so we tried Sprinters cafe, which was pretty much empty.

The place didn't exactly stand out to all the others and wasn't different... But the front of it looks really nice and welcoming. I came for lunch and had a panini and a hot chocolate. Both was lovely and was servers rather fast. We were served by a young gentleman who made the visit worth it. He was just really friendly and made us feel welcome.

My partner and I visited Shrewsbury yesterday for the day. So many places to choose from to eat and I think we chose one of the worst in the entire town. The place was virtually empty (that should have rung alarm bells since all the other cafes were bustling) so we sat down and chose a ploughmans lunch, a jacket potato with cheese and two americano coffees...simple dishes where you'd think it couldn't go wrong....WRONG!

If you enjoy eating dry food, not getting your food as ordered, drinking weak coffee, enjoy not being able to hold a conversation because the louder-than-life staff member is holding an excruciatingly patronising training and nutritional consultation on the table behind punctuated by slamming doors and visits from delivery men who need to know about the toilet roll order, if you don't mind being unsure whether you have entered a gym, a warehouse or a staff canteen.... You will love it! We did inform the staff member that his cafe-come-consultation room experience did not work for us and the couple who were there at the same time sprinted out with the same impression.

After visiting Sprinters when back in Shrewsbury this summer the staff were so welcoming and cakes so nice I wanted to thank them by writing a positive review on Tripadvisor. It was only then that I read some of the past comments on here and was shocked that it could be about the same place. Whatever they have done to improve the service over the last few months must have worked as it was second to none. The lemon drizzle cake was a taste sensation.

I went in to Sprinters for the first time and found it to be a lovely experience. Service was very good, welcoming staff who were very efficient. A good selection of cakes to choose from, the bar itself was set out very well. I went for a Latte and a chocolate brownie and it was delicious. I was able to enjoy my brownie in a lovely relaxing place and I will be going back without a doubt.

Having ate here last year where we had a very nice coffee and cake we decided to try Sprinters again on our recent visit. What a disappointment. The cappuccino I ordered was dreadful just hot water with some sort of powder floating on top. The man who served us had a dirty black t-shirt on with stains on the front which answered my decision not to order food! No change in the till when we went to pay which had me scrabbling around in my purse for coppers. If you are looking for a decent coffee house in Shrewsbury, there are plenty of better ones to choose from

Although the coffee bar is tastefully done ypur are not greeted in a friendly manner by the staff. the food was of a very basic level and to be honest the service was shocking. We were ignored by three kembers of staff and after finally being aknowleged the young girl was rather rude and blunt. after receiving our coffees we decided to leave and we were asked why we didnt want our coffee's, to which my reply was " your service is shocking and will not be back". avoid ever going to the establishment as we will too.

Young man seemed not to want to be bothered to take our order at counter. Ot came fairly quickly but jacket potatoe too crisp to eat skin and obviously overdone. Salad: two small slices tomato, sliver of cucumber, red onion and iceberg lettuce. Request for salad dressing led to be being asked what salad dressing is. Blank look and after several minites plastic bottle of salad cream brandished with a "this do?" comment. I again asked for dressing even saying just oil would be acceptable. No oil apparently available! Food very basic and quite cheap. Cakes looked good (not tried) but if you want jacket potato or salad ( or both) avoid like the plague.

We headed to Dee Dee's firstly because it is situated within The Range store, where we happened to be browsing, and secondly, because it advertised that it was serving Costa Coffee. We were killing time, waiting for a relative to undergo a hospital appointment, but we waited a LONG time to be served. I actually began to time it on my watch, silly I know, but I was beginning to think that we would have to ditch our idea of a coffee and head back to the hospital. In the end, we waited a little over 18 minutes to be served. Yes, the coffee was Costa, but not served Barista style, more of the kind of machine one finds in a buffet breakfast at a hotel, select your drink, press the appropriate button and the machine dispenses the drink. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, with one young lady taking orders and delivering coffees and another, older and more experienced lady putting together the food orders. One felt for them, as they were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet. Yet, being British, we all stood there and queued! Costa coffee is okay, not nearly as special as it would like to think, but we got what we paid for. The seating area was nicely laid out, sufficient space between tables, but it was all rather canteen, rather than a coffee / cafe /bistro experience. The management should really look at their staffing levels and help out the current members, who are doing their best.

not much occuring but the beer is nice and the staff pleasant. I was the only one in so not much atmosphere but chilled out. The young guy in glasses on the bar was lovely but didn't know much about the beer really

A really good find close to the Park & Ride bus stop at the top of town. Service was welcoming and helpful (husband has some disability) which extended to our dog. A small breakfast for £6 (choose 3 items) was perfect as was the coffee. Lactose intolerance catered for without difficulty. We’ll be back.

Found by accident while out driving around the area. Popped in for a quick lunch about 2.30. Quits a few people in there. Burger and chips were nice. Coffee was good. Toilet was clean also. Would be a good destination if it wasn't pouring with rain as could sit outside.

The staff and service is always great. We came in for a quick drink recently. We really do miss the male owner doing the food, much preferred it then. We’ve been for set menu events and it’s never really lived up to expectations which is a shame. Partner used to always come in then but we don’t tend to visit now. Just an honest one
