The food was excellent. The service was very good and a big plus they take dogs. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Exceptional experience. The service was top notch nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious and very well portioned. Would definitely highly recommend.

Decent breakfast for a reasonable price . Very enjoyable stop off on way to East Midlands Safari park. Would recommend

The restaurant was fully booked, but we ate from the same menu in the bar, which was very quiet. The food came quite quickly, and was attractively served. The pie was very tasty, but the salmon fishcakes were a bit light on salmon. Would certainly eat there again.

Went to Ye Old Black Cross last night. Decided to go as we wanted to try their food and we were not disappointed at all. Really well cooked food, hot and fresh and lovely presentation, steak and chips, mixed grill and ham egg and chips. Nice one chef, keep up the good work 😄 The staff are really welcoming and the pub has a great atmosphere. We have been to the pub before but last night felt different, people playing darts, families eating, well done to all of you who have made this happen. There's a band fortnightly and last night was Vehicle, quality gig, 80s music. We will definitely be back for more. Oh and the food cost £35 for 3 of us, which for the standard of food I thought was very reasonable. Thanks everyone

We booked a table for last night at 8pm and arrived on time to sit at a nice 4 seater table and our drinks order was taken. We then had another couple sit on the table next to us and there food and drinks order was taken. We then were sat there half an hour later with the menus still in front of us and the table next to us had received there mains. We finally ordered our food just after half 8 and our starters came quickly and our mains shortly after, nobody came and asked if the food was ok or if we required anything else and when we had finished our mains sat at the table with our finished plates for around 20 minutes before being collected. If the service had been better we would have ordered more drinks and also dessert, however instead we left unimpressed due to the service.

Food is supposed to run to 21.00. But we’re closed for food at 20.40. Disappointing as wings are really good here. Maybe next time.

Well prepared food , wine was fair, good staff .Menu had a good selection. The prices were on par with this type of night out.

Great food, small menu, but done well (Restaurants should take note: A small menu done well, is better than an expansive menu done average) Great service, friendly and attentive, without been over familiar Will certainly return

Easy free parking outside, nice decor inside and helpful staff. Sat and worked inside for an hour, reliable WiFi and good range of food on the menu. Terrace out the front is a nice place to sit on a warm day - would recommend!

Visité aquí por primera vez el domingo 12 de enero con nuestro yerno Steve. Bueno, qué lugar tan fabuloso, personal amable, feliz y acogedor que no podía hacer lo suficiente para usted. Todo el mundo es tan eficiente en lo que hace y tan limpio. El Sunday Roast fue hermoso y un montón de él también. Definitivamente voy a volver! Gracias Shaz & Nigel xx

Mmmm that’s he only way to describe our food. It was excellent, bacon sarnie & egg & sausage sarnie. Really good produce & never really tasted sausage like it. A little more pricy than normal but what you pay for you get. A smallish blond girl asking our order at the till & so switched on. She even asked did we want the sandwich buttered. Everything about the visit was 1st Class. Just one observation, I would have liked to know the staff’s names. Maybe a badge. Lovely young man bringing the food out. Call him MrX & Mrs X on the till. I have even brought a menu home to plan the next visit. Thank you.

3 friends that like to travel around different areas trying afternoon teas, and we will definitely return to mad hatters, the staff were very pleasant and happy, the afternoon tea Tea was lovely plentiful and nicely presented drinks were hot and served will a smile
