The Red Lion in Bromsgrove

Unfortunately service was very poor, valentine's day and only two staff working. To cover both bar and restaurant, tables were dirty and cluttered. When I raised the issue with a member of staff, I was ignored in a dismissive manner.

Went to the Red Lion in Alvechurch for dinner, last Thursday, food was fantastic and our waitress Mia was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for her, would highly recommend.

Food was amazing, steak cooked well, staff (Luke W) very attentive and welcoming, would recommend to anyone in the area

Another lovely Sunday lunch at The Red Lion with family . Food was as delicious as always , lovely cosy setting and staff, as always were fantastic. We will be back .

Vile Manager refused my voucher code due to their rubbish Internet reception and argued profusely until I stuck my.ground on it and due to my producing the paper version I was given before Xmas with the date clearly stated on it. He was verbally aggressive and rude. Other friends had a similar occasion there the week before (Red Lion, Alvechurch) Over priced with poor customer service. We were also asked to leave the table shortly before as they needed it although the pub was almost empty. So sorry they are struggling so much that they have to argue over a voucher discount! Zero points from me!

I had the trio of roasts which was absolutely delicious - the beef, pork belly and turkey melted in your mouth! The potatoes were crispy and coated with flavour on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The vegetables were all roasted and full of flavour. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy was also just as delicious! I would definitely come back here again for a meal. I had the sticky toffee pudding with custard for pudding. This was a generous portion which tasted really nice.

Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was cooked as we requested, hot and well cooked . We were given time to consult menu,, time between courses and not rushed to vacate our table. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be returning in future thank you

Went there twice this week Andy looked after us sat on table 31 not to far for me to walk very busy yesterday but the food is always excellant and all the staff very friendly.

Lovely pub, friendly staff and the food was delicious and prompt service.

The food was well worth the money and service very good only down fall was it was very cold where we sat no heating on couple next to us mentioned it to waitress group of people were moved to another table

Excellent management, staff, service & food

Had a lovely meal with my wife this evening. Starters - prawn and salmon Marie Rose salad and chicken pate. Both amazing. Mains - rump steak. One with peppercorn and the other beef dripping sauces. Cooked perfectly and very, very tasty. Finished with a cheeseboard. Drinks were great and the service by Mia was brilliant - attentive without being overbearing and very professional. We hadn’t booked as let down elsewhere and chanced our arm. Will be going back.

Always a pleasure to come here for lunch, the food is always outstanding with super friendly staff.

We had a brilliant evening at the Red Lion with visiting family. Without exception the food was first rate and the service was equally excellent. Rachel was so helpful and made it so easy for our party, accomodating gluten intolerance and vegetarian options with professionalism and excellent knowledge. Thank you Rachel.

What a lovely cosy place, never been before. It had a lovely fireplace full ablaze. Staff were lovely and the food really nice.

We had visited the pub numerous times and the service has always been first class. Our server was Mya who was knowledgeable and a lovely person. We tried out the Christmas menu and it did not disappoint- the turkey and profiteroles we recommend.

Very nice lunch in a convenient spot between my family and I. It was a busy serving for the staff, and they kept it all rocking over nicely. Tasty food and nice setting. Well done to Orla as well. She had a big area and did extremely well.

A beautiful pub set in Alvchurch, which has a very warm and cosy atmosphere to it. The staff at the red lion are very polite and friendly so your guaranteed a warm welcome on your visit! You are also allowed to take in well behaved dogs in ,which is lovely . There is a basket of dog toys and a water station which adds a kind gesture. As for the food there is plenty to choose from at affordable prices. Portion sizes are reasonable and there is also a kids menu available. I highly recommend this pub I have been coming here for years and have had a fantastic experience every time. PARKING IS FREE- however you must enter you reg at the bar.

Our server Lola was fantastic , as were all of the staff.Lovely Atmoshere , food and singer .The fires were roaring , we were lovely and warm , and all left saying how nice our visit was .Only one comment .I had the prawn , scallops starter .It was very watery .Maybe could have done with a stir , or a bit longer in the merrychef .Other than that fantastic .Thanks guys and Merry Christmas to you all 🎄🎄🎄❤️🙏

Thought the service was very good, staff attentive. Menu was also quite good. only slight concern was my steak was only warm, not hot, but the rest of the meal was good. The wife enjoyed her sea bass.

went there on april 9th,2017 very expensive,small amounts of food,half of the menu was unavailable big rip off,go elseware.went back recently,nothing changed,never again🤥 2024

Went for a meal with friends after we discovered another local pub weren't doing food on Wednesdays, able to quickly book a table online, nice food and great service.

Great local country pub with a wonderful reception area, open fire, a selection of seated areas, fir groups, families, and couples. You could even relax alone with a cup of hot chocolate and your dog. Very friendly. Plenty of parking, though, register your vehicle at the bar.

My friend June and myself found the food superb. The service we received from Collette was excellent. Will certainly be going there again very soon. Thanks again Collette you were the best!

Great place! Full of character. Staff were very friendly, Mia was our server, nothing was too much for her. Gluten Free options were amazing...fish & chips...salt and pepper calamari plus lots of other things. Great EV charger in the carpark, which was the main reason we stopped...the delicious food was a bonus!

Great quiz night on Wednesday at 7pm.

A lovely meal out 3 adults and 2 children 6&4. Kids menu comprehensive with drinks and a side of veg batons @£8.50 great value and quality. Our server, Adam, was attentive. Polite and great with the children. Food was great quality. Plenty of parking. I would recommend highly.

Our visit was for a surprise 60th birthday meal for ten guests. Staff were very helpful in my arranging of it. Rachael was quite friendly on the day, although seemed a bit stressed. The table however wasn’t set up in the configuration discussed so people couldn’t get out easily. I had called and left a voicemail earlier in the day amending the number of people but that obviously hadn’t been listened to which was disappointing. The food was enjoyable though. And it was good to have a semi-private area.

We went there for a last minute dinner. Lovely pub and nice food, although it looks and feels more like a restaurant. We were served by twins Adam and Alex who were very helpful and knowledgeable in choosing our food and dessert.

Just a thank you to Collette who was fantastic today. I met up with a friend I hadn't seen for ages. Collette was very patient with us as we talked that much we didn't look at menus for about 30 mins. What a lovely lady! Meal was great too. Lovely pub x

We attended as a group of 7, service was slow but the pub was very busy with a constant flow of customers. Food took around 30 mins to get to the table but was understandable as there was 7 of us. I had one of the roasts and the food was lovely, the gentleman waiter who was serving us was great although seemed very rushed having to train new staff members at the same time. This is our second time coming and we will definitely come again.

Although the food was to a very high standard, the time it takes from sit down to service is quite a wait. The service however is very friendly but you may want to consider the time you visit

Raw vegetables which were too hard to eat. Burnt roast potatoes Desert was a dry sponge with caramel sauce - not a sticky toffee pudding. Complained to the waiter but nothing done about it.

Sunday lunch just ok. Lovely gravy and tender turkey and beef. Pork belly undercooked & inedible, broccoli very firm, roast potatoes firm, salty and no crispiness. The pub's great, a very busy happy environment. But they do need to improve their food quality.

Took our nephew and had a lovely lunch and service was superb. Collette, our waitress was absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend and we will be back!

Great food but painfully slow service. Arrived at 12.30, left straight after dessert, because we were going to a local football match, at 14.40. We had just main courses and desserts

Really slow service. Took ages to order drinks and then receive drinks. The roast potatoes were inedible and we told waitress this but she said she'd tell chef. I'm sure chef already knew! This was 2pm on a Sunday so not late in the day. The restaurant should have deducted something from the bill as they were so bad. Employ more staff as service was so painful.

Couldn't fault the staff who were friendly and welcoming. The beetroot arancini starter was excellent!!. However my calamari and my husband's fish were very dry. They tasted like they had dried out in the freezer. Such a shame and we will give them another try as food has been very good in the past

I had a meal with two friends. We were acknowledged as soon as we entered and shown to our table. The car park was adequate. Our server, Irie, was friendly, knowledgeable and polite...a credit to the pub. We will return.

Food is okay, normal pub grub. We tried to order on the qr code on the table and had to go to the bar to see where our drinks were 20 minutes later. Just go to the bar, it's quicker.

Went for a meal on Sunday with the family. I ended up getting the Vegetarian Burger and Berry Burst Mocktail. The service and food was great. It was quite busy and quite loud in there (which you can’t help really). Other than that, it was lovely. Great job Red Lion!

Table booked for 5pm. Ordered 5.10pm starters eventually arrived 6pm after enquiring re the excessive delay several times. Mains arrived 6.35pm after further enquiries. Food excellent but over priced.

Family dinner on Sunday 7th July, first waitress was fine, however she must have left after giving us dessert menus, we were just left for ages. When we asked another girl, I was trying to tell her we had, had our dessert menus for ages but no one had come back to our table, I was expecting some sort of explanation… I was met with “okay!” Yo shut me up! So rude ! No apology, no explanation just a pissed off look! This was my second visit for food in a week, it’s not cheap, but apparently we haven’t paid enough this week to be treated with respect.

Called in for lunch, great food great service from Collette and Reece. Will definitely be calling in again. Thank you.

We had a stopover here on a long journey, great pub garden to give the dog a break. The food was lush! So tasty and such care put into preparation and presentation. We had the set lunch menu, which was reasonably priced for the food quality. The highlights were the mains - steak and chicken salad, the salad particularly was delicious. We’ll definitely be back as it’s on a regular journey for us visiting family.

We came to the Red Lion for Father’s Day Lunch on Sunday and it didn’t disappoint. We had a fabulous Sunday roast , amongst other dishes. Great place and atmosphere. Big shout out to Adam who served us throughout, he was fantastic, always smiling and so helpful.

Met up with good friends for a mid-week get-together. Food was lovely, and arrived promptly. The young lady who served us was so nice, really friendly and polite. The place was busy - even for mid-week- so recommend booking a table. All in all, nice atmosphere, and would definitely go there again.

Nice atmosphere. Decent service from very polite and attentive staff. However, food wasn't anything to write home about. Usual pub-grub standard. Travelled from Redditch to try it out. Quite possibly won't return.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour on behalf of the lad behind the bar, my mom expressed her disappointment after waiting an hour for food and people came in after us being served food (ours was blatantly rushed because they forgot about us) sausages where burnt, kids meals didn't come with drinks or dessert. There was one nice person serving & said she'd sort something out at the end to which lad behind the bar was tunnel visioned on the payment and being fake completely ignoring us expressing our dissatisfaction. Absolutely got my blood boiling we are definitely not going back again which is sad because we've been there a lot and had good times but this was it for us.. 1*
