Service was good! Food small portions and expensive! Don't think I'll be going back or recommending.

If you're looking for a cosy, beautiful, warm venue, for a first class, delicious, outstanding meal, with attentive, helpful, smiling staff, at incredible value.....just book a table here. Trust me, you'll be so glad you did. 5 stars frankly aren't enough to rate our experience there. Well done to all the team at The Fountain Clent, and thank you for a wonderful Anniversary meal.

Lovely pub in the middle of Clent. One of the best roasts I’ve had - really enjoyed visiting here.

Well this is more than a pub The food is excellent and that is reflected in the price, but I think worth it. It a a cosy old charm, the staff are attentive without being intrusive.

Came in December and said we must come here more often, so we did and it was fabulous, fantastic service and amazing food!

Went for a meal with my other half, we got served by Annie and Nick l. Food was great and the place always very welcoming.

Good varied menu, attractive presentation, selection of steamed vegetables, chips/ the most delicious Dauphinoise potatoes,(the best I've ever tasted). Good service.The Fountain is set in picturesque Clent,a place you always return to.

I went to the Fountains restaurant today with my mother and daughter. The food was fabulous, all cooked beautifully and the staff were very jolly and polite. Will definitely go again.

Well run, great service and perfectly cooked. Hadn't been for years as moved away but just as good or maybe better than I remember.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal in a good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. One very minor issue which did not detract from our visit was that on leaving it was very dark outside the door and one of our party almost fell over on the step - a courtesy light would negate this issue.

Always a good experience. Recommend without hestitation.

Brought my Sister here today for lunch for part of her 70th birthday celebrations, I cannot fault anything, from the moment we walked in, they are very welcoming,& the food well…… it was absolutely beautiful Every mouthful I felt was dancing in my mouth I’d not been here for a fair few years, but sure won’t leave it so long next time Thank you to all 🤗xxx

we went on Sat night @ 7>30pm. The restaurant was full but our pre-booked table was reserved. The service was very good. The food was exceptional. ( I had the whole Torbay Sole) Although not cheap I can see why the place was packed. Value for money, excellent. What's more it was not noisy & had a lovely atmosphere. . Definitely a go-to place

I highly recommend the Fountain at Clent as one of the best places in the area to eat. I can't go often as we no longer live in the area, but when we are and want to eat out the Fountain would always my first choice and have never been disappointed The food and service cannot be faulted. Great choice of food and drinks. Staff are friendly and attentive and the ambience is lovley Excellent value for the quality Love when you book your name is on the menu, which is such a personal touch.

We went for a Sunday lunch here. The food was wonderful, staff were friendly, and we had a very enjoyable time.

Beautiful food and a fine selection of classic ales and beers to choose from. Lovely fine dining at the base of the Clent Hills. Dogs are not permitted inside though but understandable as quite limited for space! Very cosy! Once the summer months arrive will be a great place to sit outside with the canine and get a fine bite!!

Staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much for them- it was definitely 5 star customer service. The food was scrumptious and even though I was full, I couldn’t say no to dessert! A lovely and friendly pub and would recommend to all.

We have been coming here for over 30 years and have always found the food to be exceptional, plentiful and good value for money. Today we came for Sunday lunch as a pre Christmas treat and were disappointed in both the portion size and the inflated cost. The roast beef main course, which we did mot have had a whopping price tag of £26.95 which included a never seen before supplement of £2. I had the sea bass which came in at £24.95 and comprised one fairly small fillet with a small amount of sauce. To be fair I could not fault the food but given the small portion and the reduced amount of cheap vegetables the price was nothing short of ridiculous. Every previous visit I have made here has left me stuffed to capacity, forcing me to find room for one of the delicious deserts. I found myself still hungry after the main course and opted for the chocolate brownie sundae which was dry, lacking flavour and without a hint of sweetness. It was my intention to purchase gift vouchers today as a thankyou to a friend for a recent kindness but after this experience I decided against it. Come on Fountain you had an amazing reputation, built on many years of producing excellent fare and providing an amazing service. Do not risk losing it due to what feels very much like penny pinching. You are or were better than that.

Lovely ambience however food was quite disappointing - one roast potato on a Christmas roast and very very hard vegetables - insufficient amount for 4 people

Sunday lunch for 6 adults. Meat options were lovely, but vegan main was very small in comparison with no vegan option for the Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese. Starters were all very good.

I took a friend who had never been to the fountain and it didn't disappoint. I had made a reservation and had to amend that , no problems and very amenable I was asked to give my choice of food prior to arriving but I was unable to because my friend didn't know where we were going again no issue and very accommodating. The staff upon arrival are very welcoming and the ambiance is very friendly. Our food choices were different but both of us enjoyed our meals. You are not rushed at the Fountain and I can imagine many people frequent it often I certainly will.

I had high expectations for The Fountain Inn in Clent, but my recent visit was underwhelming, especially when it came to the food. The dishes lacked flavor and attention to detail. My Turkey dinner was very bland and appeared to be from a rolled turkey as opposed to fresh turkey, likewise the stuffing, and very little veg provided, this was not what had previously been offered on other occasions. I did give feedback to waitress and was told “I’ll let the chef know” very disappointing.

Refreshing to find a place doing things right on all counts. The menu is not the stock fare of the chains and their ilk. The quality of the food is also very high. I would highly recommend this place.

Absolutely incredible - as always. My partner and I always pick The Fountain for special occasions and it never disappoints, incredible food, incredibly friendly and polite staff - you genuinely can’t get any better.

The service was absolutely excellent, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered off the festive menu and the food was amazing!! The Bailey's cream brulee was the best thing I've ever tasted, we will definitely be paying another visit to the Fountain Inn again soon.

We meet some friends for a Christmas get together. We were warmly greeted and taken to our table. We could not fault the service throughout our stay. The meals were well presented and extremely tasty. There was not enough room, on the table, for the accompanying dishes to the meal. The vegetables were and remained hot in the bamboo steamer, excellent idea. rather than leaving vegetables in an open dish to go cold . The Wainwrights was refreshing and well kept as was the other guest beer, but I cannot remember its name. A good wine list, the ladies settling for a Pingot. A very friendly and welcoming pub. Fine dinning in a pub. No gimmicks, just good food, excellent drinks and excellent friendly service.

We had a table for 2 by the bar, and everything was lovely.

Lunch at the Fountain… a warm and polite greeting shown table and ordered drinks from the extensive list all undertaken very efficiently …great selection on the menus and at very good prices. I opted for the prawns and my wife the lemon sole… both devoured …. For desserts we had cheesecake and the crumble with custard…plates left completely clean. Not our first visit, the Fountain has become a regular venue for us… today was a flawless dining experience we recommend a visit if you want value, quality and impeccable service…

29th November 2024 Superb experience on our 1st date, attention to detail was outstanding, staff were very friendly and attentive with our every request which made our evening even more memorable. Food was excellent, service was beyond expectations. Perfect in every aspect, table position, champagne at the table before arrival, thank you all involved that evening. Unfortunately, although being told by my gorgeous date that a 2nd date was definitely going to happen….. she ghosted me …. But I’ll definitely be back again soon. 🍾🥂🌹

Very good level of service from a variety of staff. Wide range of options on both menus. We opted for fixed price two courses. Pork Loin and goats cheese wellington very good. Good portion and variety of vegetables. Three different deserts all good.

I've been a loyal patron of this pub/restaurant for many years, consistently impressed by the quality of both the food and service. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me quite disappointed. While the staff were warm, friendly, and made us feel very welcome, the food has noticeably declined. What used to be a delightful dining experience has turned into a disappointment of cheap quality dishes at premium prices. I ordered the Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, expecting slices of succulent turkey breast. Instead, I was served what felt like processed turkey circles. The gravy was watery and lacked flavor, which was a letdown. For dessert, I opted for the homemade chocolate brownie, but it was so dry that it crumbled apart. Given this experience, I’m sad to say I won’t be returning anytime soon.

One of the best Sunday roasts I have had, meat beautiful and pink, vegetables cooked properly, al dente but not too hard, sauce so tasty. The service was attentinve without being overbearing. Excellent, we will be back.

Yet another visit to this lovely restaurant. A busy lunchtime. Despite which, the service was good and the food was well cooked, fresh and plentiful. We would thoroughly recommend this place for a 'get together with friends' lunch.

We were greeted very well and shown to our table quickly! Drinks orders were taken but rather slow in being served! We ordered sea bass which was ok! Potatoes were served and then we waited a long time for our vegetables by which time potatoes and fish were getting cold! Not the service or good service usually found at the Fountain! Staff were pleasant especially the gentleman who greeted us and one of the waitresses the others were rather off hand!

I have lived in Clent on and off since birth in '68. So after a long walk, Sally my dog who weighs 2.5 kgs, and I thought we'd treat ourselves to half a pint of beer, and popped into a country pub. As there were people eating, I picked her up and headed to the bar. Before we were two yards from the bar a young (ahem) gentleman appeared - shaved head, beard, horn rimmed glasses, you know the type – and said, “sorry mate you can't bring the dog in the bar.” I told him that I was carrying her we just wanted half a pint to drink outside at which he said, “sorry mate you're going after leave her outside.” I told him that we just wanted a swift half, and we'll drink it outside at which he said again, “sorry mate; tie her up outside first". I advised him that I was not his mate, I was a customer; to which he said again, "sorry mate - dog outside!" I told him. “up yours”. This used to be a beautiful country pub where you could have a beer or, if you wanted, dine in style. Talk about being silly! This is ridiculous! There’s a place in Hagley that lets dogs in and is far cheaper and less pretentious! Well done the King Arthur! I'd recommend the Fountain to anybody who likes expensive beer and try to impress someone, and thinks they’re better than people who’ve lived there half a century; but drive out into the country, think you're in a country pub, and this is how they treat locals – and you eat there??? You bunch of idiots. As for the staff – I will not lower myself to use the words you deserve.

I came only because this place was half way both ways for me and my friend, never heard of it before. Had an exceptional meal, hearty and cooked to perfection pork belly with scallops. Definitely coming back to try the full menu.

A quintessential English country inn , lovely setting at the bottom of Clent Hill, serves decent beers , and to eat I had a whole baked lemon sole with dauphinoise potato , delicious , excellent value , friendly ,polite and efficient service , a delightful experience will definitely be returning for more :)

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely, but this time my son's steak was unpleasant, chewy and somewhat tough. It hadn't been rested or seasoned properly. My lemon sole was very bland and un-seasoned. I'll pass it off as a bad day at the office for the chef we like the place and the staff, but the sirloin steak was nearly £30 which was quite expensive for what was a poorly cooked dinner. He was young and didn't complain too much, but said near the end it was disappointing, which is why we didn't raise it at the time. Thank you

We had a lovely lunch at The Fountain - myself, my 18 year old son, and my 88 year old Mum. There was enough choice to suit each one of us, and the table staff were very helpful. Highly recommend.

We love visiting The Fountain. Staff are always really friendly and the food is amazing, especially the vegan nut roast.

Anniversary Dinner we had sharing camembert for starter and the famous 1/4 lamb shoulder pot roast we were stuffed after that but it was worth it & would go back again just for the lamb dish unfortunately no room for dessert .

Very cramped seating, food is average and does not reflect the price. Some staff seem very inexperienced. The customer service on arrival is not good enough.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, we ventured to The Fountain at Clent, ready to savour their reputed menu and soak in the serene atmosphere. Little did we know, we were up against the clock—food served indoors until 2 pm and the patio menu stretching till 2:30 pm. But did that throw a wrench in our lunch plans? Not at all. Why, you ask? Because the hospitality here could soften the hardest of deadlines. With a friendly smile and a subtle wink, the staff reassured us that time was but a concept (or at least, not one to be worried about on a Saturday!). The indoor menu may have ended, but the patio served not just dishes, but happiness on a plate. The food was delicious, the sun was shining, and the sense of calm was unparalleled. We left not only full, but fully charmed. For a place where the time restrictions on food somehow feel like an invitation to relax, laugh, and enjoy life, The Fountain at Clent is an absolute must-visit!

Food was ok/good but overpriced

Called in for lunch today and really glad we did. The food and service was really very good we only wish we had room for dessert as they looked to be excellent. We will definitely go back for dinner one evening as it has a lovely atmosphere and as I said the food and service was spot on.

We were really impressed by the warm welcome, the excellent Sunday lunch and the friendly service .
