There have been a lot of new staff changes since we last visited..and today they were bang on! Nick in particular was outstanding..friendly..attentive..knew his job and is bloody good at it. Sammy and faye( I think...apologies if I have the name wrong) we're also great.sammy was lovely..she served us the most.a big improvement. The food was also lovely..I had liver which was spot on and lemon meringue pie was to die for. Thank you x

So very disorganised and not very friendly. Got told no service before 12 then we sat and watched multiple people getting served before 12. Looked to order food despite our reservations to be asked for a table number. There were no table numbers. Then they realised they hadn’t put table numbers out. Great location really let down by a staff team that do not seem to be capable of running a pub. This is a shame and may not be representative of the general level of service from this pub. It is a great location however.

Enjoyed our evening very much,good food and drink,pleasant efficient staff and a nicely situated table in a peaceful location.As a vegetable lover always enjoy the selection offered here as many places hardly give any veg at all.The menu always has a good choice on it to suit all.The main courses are the best value with the staff always offering more veg if you require it.The bowl of soup tends to be on the small side but the fish goujons were excellent as were the battered prawns.The lemon tiramisu was very tasty but my friends were disappointed with their white chocolate crème anglaise as it was so tiny in a small glass bowl.We remarked on the size to the waitress who replied guess it’s the luck of the draw meaning they chose poorly I didn’t. Will definitely visit again perhaps we should ask the size of the dessert before ordering though.

Our first visit to The Fountain and it felt like wearing a comfy pair of favourite shoes. The staff were friendly welcoming and attentive. We were asked if we had been before and menus were explained to us. The crispy jumbo prawns were lightly battered, large and crispy, perfect! Mains of Beef Wellington, Risotto and steak and kidney pie were spot on and came with dauphinoise & chipped potatoes along with steamed greens and carrots! Quality ingredients and more than ample portions. A bottle of crisp sauvignon, pink gin and some well presented softies......we will be back!! Thank you for a lovely meal!

Had an excellent meal here for my husbands birthday. Staff very welcoming, great menu options, fixed prix menu is good value. Good home cooked food. Visited midweek but still fairly busy (so need to book) with a good ambience. We are not local but it was worth the journey.

We visited The Fountain for a birthday meal. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top, they interacted brilliantly with our young son. The food was absolutely amazing, we both had the beef wellington and it was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are great value for money. We will definitely be returning!

Beautiful food, excellently cooked and presented - prices pretty reasonable too. We haven’t visited for sometime but noticed it was particularly quiet - used to be hard to get a booking before? Perhaps it’s the holiday season - staff were friendly and efficient. We will return

Fantastic food. Great selection on the menu. Booked a group of five and they personalised the menu with a name. The service was outstanding. There is no service charge and they leave it to your discretion if you leave any tip. Peaceful sitting inside and out. Lovely experience.

Lovely welcome on arrival - seated quickly & drinks order taken. Ordered one meal of the fixed price menu and one off the a la carte. Food was served very promptly and was lovely and hot. I had the Big Tiger Prawns starter following by the Smoked Haddock Chowder and my husband had the Breaded Plaice starter, steak main and finished with the cheese board. All the food was cooked to perfection. It was our anniversary and it made the day perfect for us. Cannot wait to return (especially for those Big Tiger Prawns) Also want to add a note to say the staff were very amazing and very plesant - such a change as these days most places you visit the staff are just so miserable.

Beautiful place, outstanding service, exceptional food….just wow!!! All the staff were friendly and bent over backwards to ensure we had a great meal. The turkey dinner was to die for - I wish my turkey turned out like that, so moist and full of flavour. Plenty of vegetables and lovely and crunchy still. Great selection of beers and wine, the red Rioja was especially nice. Thank you for a really special evening, can’t wait to return!

Went here with friends hoping for a nice meal in a popular pub. I found the place a bit clicky if I'm honest. The bar staff came across as smug, i felt that unless you're a regular you get the back of the queue. The food wasn't great, the batter on the fish was soft. Not sure ill go back. Disappointed.! So camr back here tody and we all had the haddock &chips. Not the best, the batter was chewy, chips not nice. I said I'd never come back here but this time I definitely won't be back. The food made us all ill. Should of gone to thr vine instead.!!

Came for a celebratory anniversary lunch. Service excellent as always, food is superb, chicken, pork and sea bass all absolutely delicious, desserts too. Only gripe is we were charged for extra dauphinoise potatoes when we asked for them, when they were always provided free of charge previously, and we were not made aware of that. Overall that does not detract from the quality of this place though.

Absolutely abhorrent service (besides the one lady with short hair what a gem). My friend and I were returning from a hike made to feel very uncomfortable upon entry. We arrived to have a pint, we're completely ignored upon entry and made to feel as if we should not have been there, and told to sit outside as no space available when there were clear sitting inside available and no reservations.

Good varied menu, generous portions, traditional olde worlde type food non. Staff all pleasant and efficient. Great to have hot plates for hot food. Only criticism, the chips were not as good as I remembered. In this occasion they were over cooked.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Always been very impressed woth the food, the down to earth but very professional staff. Try this place out. I promise it will not disappoint. Fine dining at a very good price.

Recently attended a stag do in the upstairs skittles alley. The young lady who was looking after us was amazing, very friendly and professional. She did a fantastic job of looking after us single handedly especially as it was her first shift back after months off

A wonderful Father’s Day lunch at The Fountain. Staff were very attentive, all with great personalities. Food was excellent, super fresh and pleasing to the eye. Great food as always and great service. Friendly staff and a cosy feel. It was quite quiet as we had an early booking and it was a bit cool, even though it’s June, but overall we had a lovely lunch.

Good value for money in a nice location with friendly staff

Busy country pub with regular and set price menu. Had taken the trouble to print happy birthday on the menu on the table but didnt actually acknowledge it other than that. Was chilly inside as heating not on, we were there an hour after opening so perhaps it warms up? it did get busier as time went on with a walking group and generally retired people I would say. The fixed price menu was nice enough and staff were attentive.

A really good Sunday lunch. The food extremely tasty. The steamed veg a bit uninteresting but the chips were fantastic and the sole very good. Delicious choice of dessert, too. The atmosphere was excellent. No music and plenty of soft furnishings, so although tables are close together, general noise level was low and we could hear each other speak. The service was outstanding. Lots of professional but friendly staff, taking orders speedily and always aware of what you might need. A very relaxing experience.

Went for a 35th wedding anniversary, the staff were very attentive and the food was amazing, I couldn't eat all mine. Compliments to the chef. Thank you.

Drinks ok food not good we will not come back here again and will not recommend.to anyone it’s the worst pub in Clent there are better pubs and food but not here again.

Busy pub turned the tables round quickly but didn’t feel rushed to leave. Sunday lunch really good,we had two courses but you could have three. I had squid starter which was amazing and then turkey with all sorts of veg cooked to perfection. Service was very good also, highly recommend.

This was place was nice. Traditional, busy, welcoming. However, in MY opinion, the food is average, especially for the price. I get it might be the whole traditional Black Country pub grub vibe, and it’s nice, just not to my taste. Atmosphere was great, lovely outdoor space. Fish pie wasn’t very deep, bit dry, the steamed veg is not for me, too hard, mixed grill wasn’t great either and the Guinness was a bit stale. The beef wellington was the best thing we ordered and that was decent tbh. For the price, I expected better, that’s all. But if you like the traditional kinda feel, you might enjoy it.

The food is always great at the fountain. Difficult to not choose their signature dish of the pot lamb which is simply excellent. We’ve been many times over the years and the food remains excellent.

Great food and Annie our waitress was very attentive, happy and helpful. The only down fall was no welcome as we walked in. We stood a bit awkwardly at the bar and wasn't told to wait a minute while the bar lady sorted drinks. Everything else was perfect.

We ate outside and had lovely sunshine so that helped! Food great, staff pleasant but veg arrived quite a lot later than the main part of the meal. Couldn’t have a tab outside even though I offered my credit card as a safeguard to us absconding! Lovely relaxed lunch and cracking puds. We’ll be back.

Always guarantee a warm, friendly welcome when we visit. The food is always spot on. You know you're going to walk away at the end of the evening, having had a belly full of wonderful food in a great little pub. We always look forward to our visits here with family and friends.

Visited at the weekend. Food was fine but the seat was crammed up right next to the wall and next to the kitchen entrance/exit and a table 1ft away from us even they commented that it felt like we all sharing an evevning together even though we werent. Table was booked for 5pm, we were phoned at 17.05 asking where we were as we were walking into the pub! Sat down and instantly told we have got to order as kitchen was closing...so had to order food within 4-5 minutes! Why have a 5pm slot to book a table if the kitchens are basically closing!? Needless to say the whole dining experience felt extremely rushed and food was overpriced. Needless to say this will be the last time i visit this establishment.

Decided to give them another go after a very poor experience last visit. Improved but not much. Mumbling waitresses. Forgotten sides. No-one came to ask if everything was ok. Had to proactively ask for condiments as they weren't offered. Food though was ok. I like the atmosphere in this place and it's definitely quaint but I have to say for the money there's better places.

I found the table quite uncomfortable as I was right next to the bar, which was against my shoulder and there was not enough room for 2 people sat on that side of the table. The toilets weren’t very clean. The meal was average. We had 2 roasts, a fish and chips and a fish pie. We had to ask for the chips as they did not come with the rest of the meal. When the one portion arrived we asked the chips to go with the fish pie, the actress said ‘I don’t really know the kitchen is really busy’, and no more chips arrived. When we ordered dessert we were told the last sticky toffee pudding had been sold.

Great varied choice of menu.Enjoyed Beef Wellington for main,like the way I was asked did I want it pink or not.It was perfectly cooked not pink.Great to have a basket of vegetables as so many places hardly give you any.Also enjoyed my starter of battered prawns and cheesecake for dessert.All washed down with two bottles of wine and followed with a floater coffee. Our table was in a spacious position with room beside us for our coats. Roll on the next visit

Really good food - had the gravlax for starters and deep fried hake for mains - both were excellent, and the accompanying veg were perfectly cooked (not overdone as is often the case). And the chocolate brownie dessert was to die for. Service was really excellent as well. Loved it. Will be back.

I had my mum's 80th at the fountain on march 9th, 40 family members from England and Ireland who had the most amazing time, the food was fantastic and the service exceptional, my family still raves about it now, I have been to the fountain many a time which is why I chose it, it's a class place and Jackie and her staff are just incredible Thankyou for making it my mum's best ever birthday xx

Lovely atmosphere/location (foot of Clent Hills), excellent service, average cooking and (Prix Fixe) expensive for lunch at just shy of £23.

Just got home from The Fountain at Clent. Haven't been there for a couple of years and pleased to see that the food was as excellent as it always has been. Still run by Jackie who owns it . She's lovely as are the staff who work with her. These days when management are always changing it was nice that The Fountain remains the same, it definately lives up to it's reputation. I had the famous lamb shoulder and my partner, the fillet steak. We had starters and unable to manage dessert. Had to adk for doggie bag as i couldn't manage all the lamb, belueve me i never leave meat on my plate as i love it so much. However, I brought some home and my little twin Westies loved it. Finished off with coffee. Restaurant wasn't packed but for a Tuesday night there were a few. The ambience was great, service was excellent and staff were very friendly and efficient. All in a lovely evening, a late birthday treat for me. Thanks Jackie & co., was nice to see you again, Regards Gaynor

Haven’t been to the Fountain for ages - wow forgot how good this place is. The food and the service is superb- would thoroughly recommend this place for the amazing food - starters - mains - sweets are all amazing . You will not be disappointed - and lovely friendly staff 10/10 all round 👍

Use to frequent this establishment but was put off once by poor food this one time. Went last Sunday and thought it would be nice to try again. We thought we’d get a few chips and drinks after a dog walk. All in all a group of us spend £160. Not much we a considerable amount for a quick snack. We found the young lady serving the tables outside to be very rude. Had a problem with our order (which was basically sandwich and chips not sure how you can do that wrong!) met with a very rude attitude! Manageress finally sorted it with much confusion. It’s not hard! You did not bring the food we are not going to pay for it! When we left my friend said “same time next week” the server basically said “really so soon” “I am glad I’m not working outside next week” wow what a way to make you feel welcome!

Came here over Christmas. Starter and dessert was lovely but the main was disappointing. Over cooked beef, burnt Yorkshire pudding and very bland over steamed veg. For the price we were paying, I would expect it to be excellent quality.

The worst restaurant I’ve been to. It was very overpriced for food that didn’t even taste that good. You are not even allowed to share main meal. I do not recommend. I rate it 0

Had a decent meal but I do feel prices have increased whilst portion size seems to have decreased. Black pudding Scotch egg starter was delicious but our mains were just average. Mains at £27 each were fine but I don't think I'd return unless it is for a set menu price as they sometimes offer. I hadn't realized they start serving food weekdays at 6 so when we arrived it was empty so no ambience. I think we would stick to weekend visits in future.

Shocking experience, worst I’ve had for somewhere I’ve not eaten. Looking at the menu it states YOU CAN NOT SHARE main meals. Sandwich menu is stupidly overpriced, and you can’t buy a simple bowl of chips without ordering a sandwich? Whoever creates these menus clearly had a god complex. Wouldn’t recommend to a homeless person.

Food was good, our first time of booking there for my friends birthday. We spent £100.00 . We had bought a bottle of Prosecco. We were rudely treated shoved onto the smallest table in the room. The blond lady kept rushing us saying she needed the table and even emptied the drink into our glass. Felt very uncomfortable and will go back to the Vine next time. Very disappointed in the staff.

Rude rude rude..... we came here as a group of friends on Sunday afternoon. The attitude of the elderly lady at the bar was shocking! She was totally dismissive and we were flabbergasted. We asked if they had space and she said "absolutely not!". I can't believe this attitude on this day and age!

33 of us from Sandwell / Stourbridge Ramblers hired the skittle alley on Saturday night - great fun. Staff were friendly, courteous and hard working. Hot food served as a buffet, with various choices - great value. Brilliant night had by all!!

First time here today, came here wanting some food and a few drinks. Walked into the outside space and asked if we could bring dogs in. The moody waitresses quickly said NO! We asked if we could sit and eat outside with dogs bear in mind this pub stated that it was DOG FRIENDLY! Was told no we cannot eat outside however funnily enough there was a couple eating outside! Staff were very rude and clearly stressed as the restaurant was full however just explain that you are not taking any more customers due to being busy! ONLY DOG FRIENDLY PART WAS THE BOWL OF WATER AT THE FRONT DOOR! Dog friendly potentially on a good day, people friendly definitely not! AVOID!

Went for brother in laws 60th had lovely food and the staff were attentive

Very disappointed. Last time we visited we had a prix fixe lunch which was excellent. Today we just wanted a snack. I had the fish finger sandwich - tiny and not very tasty fish fingers on boring stale-tasting granary bread, with a little salad and coleslaw. However, my husband was happy with his chicken BLT. We had a bowl of chips which were good. Service efficient, with two friendly people and one po-faced person. I think the snack/light meal menu needs revising.

I reserved my table one night before the booking, and was made welcome from the first conversation. Staff are very atentitive and polite the owner who takes the request is respectful . The food arrived hot and too much that's my fault. The prices for the experience of eating at the Fountain are very reasonable and will be frequenting this establishment again

Great little pub and Sunday roast was lovely!! I had the lamb shoulder huge portion but delicious!
