Sunday lunch for 6 of us. Absolutely lovely atmosphere, so relaxed, staff friendly, no rushing. Ordered various roasts - the potatoes were crispy and we all cleared our plates. Eton mess for dessert and coffee. I chose the Fox and hounds because it was equidistant for me and my siblings but it was well worth the hour’s drive!!

Service is good. Staff are heplful, atmosphere nice. However, the quality of the food is most certainly not proportional to the cost. I had the Trout Pastrami as a starter, it was dry, the teaspoon full of horseradish sauce was so over powering, that instead of complementing the trout it just killed it. All of this was pulled on a dry old piece of soda bread. The side vegetables were tasteless and also dry.

Oh my gosh … service amazing , ordered drinks they appeared at my table almost instantly , I ordered food and it was there within 5mins a lot quicker than the local maccies … food quality was amazing , Gordon Ramsey quality food in minutes is absolutely astonishing!!!

i’m so happy with the service that i received, i was served very swiftly and all of the bar staff were very nice, im extremely happy with the whole visit and i will definitely be returning again, the atmosphere is so lovely aswell

We visit here a lot and are always met with friendly service. Today however was very different... When I ordered I asked for my eggs to be cooked well done and was met with a roll of the eyes by the server who clearly did not want to be there. This wasn't passed to the chef as they were not well cooked. She was also clearly bitching about other customers to her colleague. We will reconsider this as our pla ce to go place for a weekend brunch.. or at the very least check out who is working before we sit down. Very disappointed today 😔

Ideal quick drink before heading home.

After suffering a mechanical whilst out riding the green lanes of Dorset my friend and I found ourselves stranded in the rain whilst a third member undertook the 2 hour round trip to get a rescue van. We looked for the nearest refuge and came across the Talbot Inn only a couple of miles away. After a tiring and wet push we arrived at 14.40 to a wonderful warm welcome from Venetia. Not only were we welcomed in and given excellent hospitality, but her and Son Theo (budding biker and rugby star) allowed us to remain long after the 15.00 closing time awaiting rescue. The food menu looks fantastic and a better experience we could not have wished for. I will be returning with my family (including Leo, budding biker and rugby star of similar age to Theo) for a Sunday roast in the near future. Thank you Venetia and Theo, you really saved the day. Only 2nd time in a 'spoons and it was really nice, well most of it. I'm nit a gambler so I was taken with the slot machine things or the big TV' s showing racing but thaf was my only dislike. We enjoyed some really good good, I had the veggie burger and it came with a drink so I had wine, my partner the curry and a pint, what a bargain. We are hoping to move to the area and if we do I think I'm going to enjoy visiting many more times. Friendly staff, nice drinks and food.

Excellent meal. The best vegetarian lasagne I have ever had ! Lovely friendly lady at bar. Lovely authentic rustic surroundings. Will return soon.

Lovely service and great food. Our waitress was amelie and she was wonderful 10/10 service. As i was gluten free she made my experience amazing. The service was great. The food selection was fantastic. Would 100% recommend.

Really nice bakery lots of selection,decent prices and the cakes are really good.
