The Red Admiral in Wiltshire

We have come once a month for a girlie catch up for a number of years now. Whilst prices have increased and portion sizes decreased - staff are always friendly and attentive. Last visit in Jan 2025 Ebony was our waitress who was very friendly and polite. My only suggestion menu needs changing a bit more especially the desserts! Option of food we normally have wasn't listed but normally have curry!

Always find the food and service hit and miss here, so never really have high hopes. Well today we were very surprised. The food was delicious. Served hot and fresh. Steak cooked rare, exactly how I ordered it (it’s normally over cooked). My little boy said his pizza was delicious and devoured it very quickly. Polite bar staff. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

Tobias was really helpful with my food intolerance and allowed me to order from the daytime menu. All meals were excellent and the bingo evening was great. Will definitely be returning

The staff were friendly, the food was good and didn't take long to be served, considering there were six of us and we had 30% off voucher; what's not to like? Great.

Had a late lunch 10th January. The remote online ordering system was a failure so ordered at the bar. Had the amazing meaty fish & chips plus gammon and two wonderful eggs. Planning on going weekly to the location for shop, post office and a good meal

Waited for a while before we were acknowledged. Table was ready and clean. My mother was very pleased with the lunch deal menu. As a vegan I felt it was very lacking in choice or availability to change a vegetarian option to vegan. My first choice was not available which left me with one option as I prefer not to eat spicy food which was the only other item on the whole menu. The staff did check the breaded mushrooms but apparently the packaging listed non vegan ingredients so was not suitable. The staff did not/were not able to offer any suggestions of how I could have a decent healthy meal so altogether I was not really satisfied and will not be returning.

Husband & I visited, on a Sunday, with 92 yr old Mum, who has multiple severe food allergies. We were served by Harriet, Nella & Mia, who went - smilingly - to huge lengths to make sure that Mum could safely enjoy her meal of choice: steak (cooked in a separate pan), chips, plain salad, vegan vanilla ice-cream. The girls were so sweet & kind, never making Mum feel she was a bother in any way. We loved being able to eat with her, and see her enjoy her food. We plan to make it a monthly outing from now on!

We ordered our food and meals at 19:45. We ordered garlic bread to have as a side but came out as a starter. It took just under an hour for our main meals to come. Although the food took a long time it was very nice. I had steak which was cooked lovely. My partner had a burger but wasn't so impressed. The burger was okay but the portion size of fries wasn't brilliant. Due to it being a celebration meal for my autistic son who done well in his end of year school report I said I would treat him to dessert. Went to order dessert to be told " sorry but can't as kitchen is closed now ". If our meals didn't take so long then there would have been plenty of time to have dessert. It was safe to say my son was very disappointed. It would have been good if staff had asked if wanted dessert before the kitchen closed. Although it wasn't the most terrible experience and that there were postives there were negatives that could easily be rectified for the future.

The Red Admiral is a great place to enjoy a game of Poker on a Monday evening. I have found Nella and the team to always be very attentive and provide an excellent service to their customers. We recently enjoyed a Christmas Poker night where Nella provided us with the added touch of Christmas crackers and prizes towards the fun games throughout the evening. She also put on a great buffet spread to enjoy during our break which was enjoyed by all. Thanks again Nella, Sandra and the team for providing such an enjoyable environment for our Poker evenings.

We visit the red Admiral almost every Wednesday for bingo night, we actually don’t care if we win or not, we go because of the atmosphere and fun element, Toby does make this a great evening, he’s good at what he does and makes you feel very welcome, the prices are normally great, and we have won quite a few , the food is actually pretty good and we’ve never had a complaint about it, we normally have either or pizza or snack food, the bar staff are friendly and welcoming also but Toby makes the evening for us,

A Christmas Lunch was arranged for our party of 8 for 17th December. We arrived at 12 ish for our usual coffee morning meet and the lunch was arranged as a follow on for 1pm. It was very busy and the the 2 front of house staff were rushed off their feet with tables, drinks and serving food. Our 1pm lunch was to be a bit late, which we accepted. However, time marched on and at 1.30pm we stated to wonder what the problem was. Starters had been served to 2 of the group and we were told the meals for the others would be brought forward a bit. However, by 1.55pm several of us were starting to get annoyed and at 2pm with no sign of a meal, I decided to leave with my lady friend. As we were putting our coats on some of the meals arrived, but by then I had given up, particularly as I had another appointment within the next hour. It seemed that the problem may have been with the kitchen, not the front of house staff.

Good food, friendly service and a decent value lunch out.

The staff are lovley, but we had a roast yesterday and I couldn't eat it. The beef was very thin and tasted awful, and the roast potatoes were disgusting too. We have ate here before of the normal menu and it was nice enough but if you're looking for a roast I wouldn't bother.

I had the mixed grill. It was better than I'd thought it would be, so I was quite pleased. It's worth a cheap meal out.

Lovely Sunday lunch excellent service great range of beers friendly staff would recommend this place also nice to hear it is dog friendly .

My friend and i had checken burger the chicken was dry and the chips were very crunchie either cooked to long or reheated

My mother and I are disabled so unable to order at the bar and as we had a voucher off mains we couldn’t use it online . A young man that worked there was amazing taking our orders at our table and going way behind the norm to help us . We will definitely be going more often and taking family and friends . Excellent customer service and very good food

Long time for food to come and lots of bad language from people on the pool table.

Booked a table for 5, arrived and was told only cash as card machines not working. Unfortunately had no cash and no where to get any from near by, was disappointed that they did not contact me by my phone or email which they had to inform us of this. The place was empty probably because like us not everyone has large amounts of cash on them. My 2 granddaughters were very disappointed as aged 11 and 5.

Lovely reasonably priced food! I had the spicy beef burger which was so so good and my partner had Mac and cheese which she loved. Expected it to be average as seemed like a generic chain but the food was so much better than that

We normally go for Bingo Night on a Wednesday, Toby makes it a fun evening & we look forward to going, we have won some great prizes, food is also pretty good, Team are all nice👍🏽

Had a lovely women called Mona serve me, i will always highly recommend The Red Admiral, the staff there is so lovely and welcoming and the food is unreal.

Well here goes we book a table for 10 people 6 adults and 4 children so we reserved a table We was shown our table on to be met with food and dirty menus underneath the tables so we push it all to one side with our feet the the so my Asistance dog could lie Down The Tables were very Sickty so we wiped them down with a tissues not a great start so we went and ordered some drinks which was OK then came to order some food for 4 Adults 2 children's meals well mine and my wife were first out but no knifes or forks then a third meal came out 10 minutes later we asked the watier for some knifes and forks which he then brought out to us by this time mine and my wife food was going cold So we ate what we could but the food was cold so left quite a bit then the watier came out with the wrong meal then he went to find someone so he came over with a ticket telling him what we ordered so while he's checking things of our foods going down hill he then went into the kitchen to get the 4 meal by which time 3 of us had finished our bad cold food ,the best thing was he didn't even come over to apologise avoid if you Can .I email the Manager explaining what had happened and response was I will give the waiter more training !

Lovely location great food Laura was very friendly and helpful will definitely be returning ..Laura recommended the lasagna and the cherry teifel cheese cake and I must say she was tight it was delishious

Have visited the Red Admiral a few times now and have not been disappointed on any occasion. We were served by Nella and Chloe today who made us very welcome which added to a relaxed lunch. Will be back I want to work my way through the whole menu 😋

Fantastic service, we are not local and did not have local vouchers, but we're offered them for a discount. Food was outstanding hot and tasty.

Only popped in for coffee and to get some work done, service was prompt, team were really friendly, overall a very pleasant experience. Will be back

We went with Family for Drinks and a meal we reserved a table for 10 of us we arrived and asked for our table the tables were sticky so we wipe them down tissues the floor around the tables was littered with food and menus which didn't look nice we ordered Drinks which was ok so we ordered food for 4 adults And 2 children meals they came out with 2 meals first but no knifes or forks then a wait for a other adult meal came out and asked for knife and forks by this time my meal and my wife had been sitting there for over 10 minutes so it going cold then 1 more came out wrong meal so the watier took it back to the kitchen then someone came out asking what we ordered so we told him then the last adult meal came out of the kitchen by which time I didn't want my meal as it was cold what a joke didn't even come over to apologise stay away from this place

Well what can I say! We pre ordered are food a week before, as we were a large party. We waited an hour and 20 minutes, with a reminder to the bar when we actually received are food, starters and main coursecame together and some food did not arrive until 10 minutes later. And to and insult to injury people who came after us, had the food first There was one person on the bar. She was overwhelmed. Please do not go there unless you have all day to wait.

The service is always friendly and inviting at the Red Admiral, the staff do a really good job in looking after customers. My custom feels well valued. There can sometimes be quiet moments at the bar when you’re waiting to be served, or a few people waiting when only one person is serving but that’s generally at busy times when other staff are waiting tables etc. A friend and I were keen to order the kebab last night but were told there weren’t any available, not the end of the world but meant we had to each order something else and were left feeling a bit disappointed after looking forward to a nice kebab! Visited last week with other friends and were all really impressed by the service and the quality and quantity of the mixed grill, I made a point of thanking the staff that night for looking after us as they did a really good job! It was the 30% off vouchers that got us in the restaurant and we’ll all definitely be going again, I’m going to tell family and friends as I’ve been really impressed. Pleased to have a decent local that serves our community well. Please keep up the good work!

The lady behind the bar was lovely and attentive. She asked all the right questions about food intolerance and allergies and had a good knowledge of their drinks for sale. Up to that point it would have been 5* but unfortunately the kitchen let the team down. My boyfriend ordered the mixed grill with a medium steak and I ordered the rump steak cooked blue. Mine came out as medium well done and my boyfriend’s was close to cremated. The rest of the mixed grill was dry and the egg had clearly been standing on the hot pass for too long as it had congealed. My steak was chewy. We had travelled from Cornwall to meet up with my family as we’ve not been together for many months and have always used the red admiral for its “family friendly” atmosphere. On this occasion it was a bit of a disappointment given the price of our meals compared to what we were given. My sister is gluten free and she chose the hunters chicken. It was served up to her and looked more like a child’s portion and was very dry. I would like to add, that although our meals were very disappointing we did however eat them as we don’t like wasting food, and we were all hungry. I didn’t complain at the time as the lovely lady behind the bar seemed to be on her own at a particularly busy of the day and that I felt that she didn’t need to be having to face another customer complaining about food. We will be coming back to the red admiral at some point next year but we feel that it will be just for drinks rather than a family get together which is what we have done for the last 11 years. We sat outside on table 102 and would love to pass on our thanks to the lady behind the bar for her lovely service and cheery disposition. She was so patient and kind with us all. If you can possibly trace her through the POS as our server within the hours of the date we visited it would be incredibly appreciated.

Pre booked early evening meal, ordered food through the app which was very good, starters came out really quick and the main meals wasn't long after having the table cleared. Very good service and the price was very reasonable.

Booked on app but no table reserved when we arrived. Ordered the steak and drink offer. Steak was tasteless and overcooked. I asked for medium rare and it was medium to well done. Very few staff so had to wait a while to order but food came quickly. Won't be rushing back.

Great staff great food great value for money

We had lunch here, it was not busy at the time. The food was fine, the service was ok and the prices reasonable. There is a shortage of disabled parking close to the entrance though.

Awesome roast dinner today. Meat was very tender and tasty, crispy toast potatoes, creamy mash, tasty veg, cauliflower cheese was to die for and the pigs in blankets 😋 😋 Staff were amazing as always. Manager and her team are always cheerful and professional, even chef popped his head out to ensure all was OK with our meal. My partner has an unusual onion allergy and it is never too much trouble to accommodate this here and his meal always has a little allergen flag in it. Plus I love the fact they stock dandelion and burdock too! Highly recommend a visit for young and old alike. Children always well catered for here. Rost rurkey this week, still one of my favourites for a roast!

We had lunch, jacket with cheese and beans, hardly any beans all very dry. Lot of things not on menu. Club sandwich chicken and bacon on brown, dry left most of toast. Fishfinger and chips okay

Lovely food, and a wide choice of vegan dishes too. Very well served and presented. Good value, will definitely visit again. Highly recommended

A warm family (and dog ) friendly place to relax and enjoy a meal and a drink in comfy surrounds. Tables are plentiful and well spaced so you don’t feel you are on top of one another, nany are in little areas away from the main bar which is cosy and ideal for families with children. Food was well prepared , nicely presented and good value - the kids eat for £1 voucher was a brilliant idea for the summer holidays as they tend to be an expensive time! Drinks were served refreshingly cold and we didn’t feel rushed to leave once we had finished our meal.

Hi, i visited today with a few family members. we were all disgusted with the prices of the drinks! We definitely will not be visiting again!!! Also, the food that we ordered was not worth the price. For example, the adult size pizza was barely big enough for a small child. Surely other's avoid the place for the same reasons.

Had some food here with my (vegan) partner and my daughter. The staff were really helpful and the food was even better! Really good variety of food for vegans and picky eaters too! Definitely coming back again and again

I came for food and drinks with the family I was served by a lady called Laura the service was fantastic I ordered food and the food was brought out by a lady called nella she asked if there was anything else I wanted and there wasn’t but service was fantastic from nella to I recommend this pub to anyone approachable and good customer service
