Popped in for lunch as a small family and WOW! Initial impressions were really nice. Great decor, warm welcome. The service was faultless and the food was delicious. We had the butchers board as a sharer, a chicken and bacon sandwich and the burger. All of them absolutely super. I don't know what magic they used on the sandwich but it was honestly amazing. The burger (with bacon) was absolutely fantastic, so meaty and tasty with the chosen cheese complimenting it beautifully. The chorizo scotch eggs and the sausage rolls on the butchers board were something else. Some of the tastiest fries I've had for a long time too. Great value for money to top it all off. 100% recommended.

A super helpful host team, very nice rooms and excellent pub restaurant make this an easy 5 star rating. The history has been carefully preserved in the fabric of the place but its still all mod cons. Our only small gripe was the always on bathroom radiator made the room too warm, seems like a waste of power as well. Otherwise highly recommended.

The unenthusiastic grunting teenager that 'greeted' us and took our order when he had the strength to tear himself away from his phone, set us up with a sour taste in our mouths that the food was ultimately unable to mask. The 12oz steak I paid extra for was smaller than the 10z steak my partner had. In the confusion, we asked to confirm they were the right way around and the unhappy, somewhat resentful employee confirmed they were, that the small steak was 12oz and the large one was 10oz. My partner asked for her 10oz to be extra extra rare. The monotone customer-phobic teenager asked back, "rare?" And my partner again replied "extra extra rare". My partners steak arrived medium. We've learned from experience not to send food back, so we had to grin (unlike the waitier) and bear it. Without drinks, our 2 steaks and 2 sides in this pub cost over £100. The taste was lovely, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, the chips were beautiful. The service was awkwardly bad. The steaks were an unbelievable waste of money.

We booked the private room for an 80th birthday lunch and were so well looked after by all the attentive staff, considering how busy the hotel and restaurant were that Sunday. The room was quiet and warm; perfect for elderly guests. We rather over-ordered, particularly the sharing platters, as each piece was huge, but we were able to take them home afterwards as they were so delicious we didn't want to waste them! The roast beef was appreciated by everyone but the treacle tart was a bit disappointing, it was dry, lacked flavour and needed custard (which had been pre-ordered but wasn't available to us all on the day) and so that was a little disappointing. Otherwise, we had a lovely day and would definitely return. Thank you very much.

We went to meet family at this pub for lunch on a Saturday. Table was booked and we were given a window table adjacent to the bar. The pub is lovely inside, it's been decorated beautifully and it's got a great country pub vibe. However, the service was dreadful. Very slow, definitely not service with a smile either. We had to get our own menus too. It was almost like we were inconveniencing them with our visit. The menu is very expensive too. The food came out cold too. We were offered menus for pudding but then no one came back to take our order so we paid and left. We wouldn't visit again.

Service is good. Staff are heplful, atmosphere nice. However, the quality of the food is most certainly not proportional to the cost. I had the Trout Pastrami as a starter, it was dry, the teaspoon full of horseradish sauce was so over powering, that instead of complementing the trout it just killed it. All of this was pulled on a dry old piece of soda bread. The side vegetables were tasteless and also dry.

I called ahead because I wanted to check that lunch would still be available at 3.00 pm. You can only speak to an automated system. It took and confirmed by text my booking for lunch at 3.00 pm. When I arrived, there was no lunch available, only sandwiches. Had the 'robot' said that the kitchen closed at 3.00 pm, I would have stopped earlier elsewhere. The waiter merely observed that "There's not a lot I can do about it." If The Lamb is going to rely on a robot, they need to give it the right instructions!

The exterior of the Lamb on first impression is beautiful. Stepping into the place was a lovely warm welcoming environment. The very attractive inglenook fire place had the fire going, the place was buzzing with people either sitting by the bar having a few drinks or people in the restaurant area having a meal. We was staying for the night so made our way to the Inns reception desk. We was greeted by a member of staff who was very helpful and showed us to our room. The room was lovely, warm, very clean, nice hot rainforest head shower and nice selection of teas and condiments on the tea tray. We went for dinner in the restaurant and was greeted by a man called Ian who we believe is the restaurant manager. What a lovely gentleman he is. He took care us from start to finish. He was very friendly, very professional and clearly knows his trade. We really wanted the 35 day matured steak as we previously looked at the menu online, but just before we ordered a table of 12 cleared the place out of steaks!!!! Very disappointed we was. We explained to Ian that we drove a long way from north London for their steaks and he said leave it with me. He came back a little while longer and said he can muster up an offcut but as a starter to share. We said absolutely and we both ordered the beer battered haddock for main course. The steak was melt in the mouth, extremely well cooked by the hard working chefs and the Fish and chips was amazing. Absolutely no complaints and totally clean plates. Ian made all this happen. What a top guy. You can see the way he has a system and connection going with the chefs to produce the quality of service. Well done Ian 👏. We had a fabulous night's sleep and breakfast was also a great experience. Quality ingredients make the full English top class. The morning staff were also lovely and helpful. Great experience all round and we will definitely be back to stay again. We are currently in exmoor now but we loved the food so much we have booked The Lamb for Sunday lunch for 2:30pm today on our way back to London.

A great spot , beautiful visit and handy for those regular trips on the 303. Staff were helpful and friendly and the wine was excellent although pricey! However, the starter didn’t provide sufficient bread for the camembert so more had to be ordered and the meals ( all roasts) were really disappointing as the Yorkshire puddings were overcooked and verging on burnt, and the roast veg felt like warmups from lunchtime. We were asked if our food was alright, but when you are treating friends to a meal out, it spoils the atmosphere to say anything negative. We will probably choose another venue next time we need a break in our journey.

This hotel seems to operate on the idea of just serving the guests. It does not matter what the request, even if the staff are off duty, they will try to do their best. I would like to especially commend Rob, who went above and beyond to help, and Mandi, who is just the most lovely host you could possibly ask for. What a wonderful, quaint and beautiful pub in a rural location. We went on a hike around the estate from Tisbury and come across the Lamb in Hindon. I’m so glad we did our welcome to the pub was amazing, lovely smiling welcome with a run down of the pub and the menus on offer. Choice of where to sit and then the menu, typical pub grub but boy oh boy was the food magnificently delicious. Having the beef burger on offer and the haddock and chips (with curry sauce and tartare sauce) it was mouthwatering looking at it. The batter on the fish was cooked to perfection the correct golden colour to crisp. The chips with chunky salt and then the condiments well the curry sauce was perfect, right flavour even on a small amount and then the homemade tartare sauce perfect combination for this magnificent meal. The beef burger was perfectly cooked with the moisture of the meat, with the thickness of the meat it was succulent.

We were not asked if we wanted more drinks instead after drawing attention we were shouted at from the bar to be asked about what we wanted. Came to Lacock on Sunday for a lovely look around the village. He hadn't booked a place to eat and when coming across the Red Lion we asked if they could fit us in and they could. We ordered two roasts, which arrived quickly and PIPING HOT - which is rare when it comes to roasts, they usually come out cold. The amount of beef was incredible and the potatoes... I have never had a pub roast with such fluffy potatoes before. If we come back to Lacock, we will definitely be returning for either another roast or to try some more of your food.
