Coffee#1 Malmesbury in Wiltshire

Not a nice place,dirty floor wooden floor looks like never properly cleaned. Shame as nice location and building. There is better and cleaner coffee shops in Malmesbury

Very dreary surroundings and not very welcoming. The server wasn't the most welcoming person. The chairs were uncomfortable so not a pleasant experience and we won't be returning.

Was initially served by a lady who was abrupt and could tell she didn’t want to be there. Ordered a deluxe hot chocolate with hardly any chocolate in, just warm milk with cream on top. The coffee cake was stale and the noise from the chiller was off putting. Really need to sort out their staff with their customer service and their cakes. Also there is no disabled access, so a couple of customers were turned away as they couldn’t get in. Only saving grace was the coffee was nice.

Dear Coffee#1 Head Office, the noisy chilled cabinet at your Malmesbury outlet is really getting on both mine and other customers nerves. It’s making a horrible loud rattling noise that drowns out both the chilled music and makes it difficult to hold a conversation. It’s been like this for ages . Your helpful and friendly staff have tried to get it fixed for months with no success. PLEASE replace it urgently!!

Coffee good but absolutely spoilt by a lady server. The man served was good but the woman had her dog on a chair, didn't want to work and when she did she made such an enormous noise doing the washing of dishes that we had to leave, it was so loud and aggressive. Stay away

Had been recommended to try the flat white and Portuguese custard tart by our friends and I have to say both were exceptional. Service from barista was exemplary. Will definitely be returning.

Thanks to the most amazing barista Niamh, this visit to Coffee #1 literally turned my day around. The kindness, compassion and level of service Niamh provided went well above any i have ever experienced in 25 years in hospitality, and her behaviour towards me and my little girl provided a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. Thank you Niamh for literally making a difference just by being you. Coffee #1 are VERY lucky to have you.

Spent a pleasant few minutes admiring the decor while the staff ignored us and did important work like checking their mobile phones. Service was, when it happened, initially abrupt and unwelcoming although it did improve a bit later. Lots of uncleared tables although, to be fair, there was a steady stream of customers. Good coffee, though.

The coffee shop is located in a very impressive converted bank building, with high ceilings and original features. Nice coffee and friendly service.

Great iced coffee frappé and giant teacake. Friendly staff who brought my order over to my table as it was quiet. Much better than a lot of bigger chains.

There aren’t many ways to make having a cup of coffee a disappointment, but this branch manages just fine. Staff on their mobile phones ignoring customers stood a few feet away waiting to be served. Rude and uncommunicative. Tables sticky and covered in layers of the days trade. Floors disgusting. There is strong competition in Malmesbury and the lack of customers should have been a warning sign - won’t be coming back here again.

Staff uncommunicative- served milk in dirty pot. When asked for it to be changed no apology just poured milk into another pot without comment. Tables dirty and when some were reluctantly cleared they were not wiped clean. Staff looked unkempt- loose hair and no aprons. Watched one member of staff touch her mouth, hair, nose and ear before then serving food. Observed another member of staff coughing over the serving area. Tea pot disgusting - mocha was 5O% froth and poorly prepared. Serious staff training required . Will not be returning.

I love this place usually it has a great ambiance and the coffee and tea are usually superb, the staff are generally pleasant, I particularly love the tea when served properly. The last two occasions I have been to sit in for a cup of tea it has been served as a tea bag in a disposable cardboard cup! The first time it was a tasteless tea bag, the second their usual tea in a bag and proper cup and tea pot were actually refused for us by the staff without good reason other than they hadn’t got time to wash up! I could except a cardboard cup the first time as their was only one member of staff ( but disappointed the tea was rubbish), but refusing to serve our beverage properly when we are the paying customer on the second occasion was very disappointing. If this is to become the norm I will take my business elsewhere where.

Great hot beverages and cakes. Great ambience and books are nice touch. Clean facilities. Nice spot for a cuppa tea

I must admit I didn't really want to go in here but all the independent cafes were full when we visited. It was actually a really pleasant surprise - it's a lovely building with a tasteful and spacious interior. There is lots of local info on the wall too. The staff were pleasant and helpful, service was quick and the food and drink really nice. A good choice in the end.

Don’t do it!!!! The worst tea experience ever.. miserable welcome from counter person .. stale cake… grubby seating area.. go in .. look at round …leave !!!

Cheesecake was still frozen inside, we got a refund easily enough but the staff member didn’t seem surprised about the frozen inside, maybe this was a common occurrence? Coffee was ok. Quite a good central place and tidy inside.

We went about 45 minutes before closing time at 6pm. At about twenty to six the assistant started vacuuming behind the counter, making the most horrendous noise. She continued to vacuum alongside tables. Hardly conducive to a relaxing experience!

Aparecimos aquí después de un largo viaje en coche y disfrutamos de un buen plato blanco y una deliciosa porción de comida Eaton.El lugar está bien organizado upnagsinst covid 19 y se sintió relajante aunque la música chirrió un poco en ocasiones.¡La señora que nos atendió estaba sola y no se detuvo! Muy eficiente y amigable. Buen acceso a través de un pequeño ascensor si tiene problemas con las escaleras (solo un par). Rincón que admite perros a medida que entra, lo que es útil.

Lovely friendly coffee house. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great coffee and some lovely cakes! High ceilings and mixed up furniture gave it a cosy feel.

Visitamos para el café de la tarde. La amplia cafetería y café era muy buena, cuando se servía. Cola no particularmente larga, quizás 3 personas como máximo, pero tardó años en ser atendida. Parecía que solo una persona estaba sirviendo y posiblemente otra limpiando mesas gradualmente. Es una pena porque el ambiente en el café es atractivo.

I love the lovely old building, the coffee and the goodies on offer. Can highly recommend. The new owner seems great too.

Popped into this coffee house after the river walk in Malmesbury. Cosy comfortable seating with just the best coffee and hot chocolate I have tasted. Busy place with a great atmosphere and facilities.

Visitamos el lugar el 23 de diciembre y me decepcionó que el café vende tan pocas cosas preparadas en el lugar. Ese día parecía que todo se había comprado en Co - op y carecía de ese aspecto y sabor caseros. Literalmente no había opciones para algo salado. Quizás fue por las vacaciones. La elección de los pasteles estaba bien. También me molestó el hecho de que había 4 perros, a uno de ellos se le permitió sentarse en la silla y olfatear cosas sobre la mesa.

Friendly welcome, helpful team, good coffee and great range of cakes. Plenty of space to sit and relax while you drink/eat. A welcome addition to Malmesbury.

Served by very friendly and understanding girls, my order is never straightforward. Excellent coffee, nice place to be or meet.

The space is good with high ceilings as it is sited in a ex Bank. The atmosphere was inviting in this quite Wiltshire town. Coffee is good as well.

Coffee is safe and the same as all Coffee #1. Atmosphere has disappeared but was replaced with wasps. Interior design clashes with the bank and there's a distinct lack of soft furniture

Nice place, and coffee - perfect use for an old bank! Great cakes carrot walnut and cinnamon, salted caramel and pecan and pretzel brittle, gf brownie and shortbread blackcurrant

Nice coffee shop, two very pleasant staff members but not enough people to run efficiently.Waited 15 minutes in a queue of three as there was only one person working at that moment. Not good enough for staff or customers.

The staff don't seem to know what they are doing and never seem to want to be there.

Recent visit meeting a friend for coffee with my dog. Unsolicited, the man serving brought a bowl of water over to our table,for our dog which was very much appreciated. This venue is what it says on the outside dog friendly. Well done!

This is one of our favourite coffee shops. The staff are excellent very focussed and the coffee is always good. Today that was fine but too many dogs and the toilets would never pass a H&S; inspection- no toilet rolls, just not very clean- avoid.

You’d think as the chain is well known that the standard of hygiene and quality of drinks would be a lot better.

We called in at mid-day for coffee and a bite. Whilst the drinks and snack were fine, we had a small dog at a nearby table that continued to annoyingly yap and some very young children who ran around the tables in an unruly manner.

Having been used to great coffee in london cafes, pleased to find this coffee house in malmesbury. Very decent hot cappuccino good comfortable decor and helpful staff, bookcases, fireplace and comfy seating. Wheelchair friendly. We had a delicious Victoria sponge. Ground floor level.

What used to be our local Bank is now a fine coffee shop. The bank has been tastefully converted to provide a spacious airy coffee shop. The coffee is also very good!

Pleasant environment with a family feel. Good coffee at reasonable prices. Tables slightly sticky. But won’t put me off going back.

We stopped in for a coffee and found a world of lovely things. The décor is different and interesting, the coffee and other drinks are deliciously unusual and the light bites and cakes are wickedly delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful too!

Great service in a splendid old building. Good coffee. Nice cake. Its right on the main street close to everything else you might wish to visit. A walk around historic Malmesbury is strongly recommended (details at Visitor Centre) and here you have a fine pit stop if you get tired.

Set in an old bank on Malmesbury High Street, Coffee #1 is a new addition. The interior is great, although maybe they could do with a one or two less tables to make it a little less cramped.

Just a short walk up from the bottom of town we didn't know this was open. Good coffee but a tad strong - we may have to try some of the others in their range.

Nice and quirky interior, friendly helpful staff, amazing coffee and a good, basic selection of cake, flapjacks etc. Highly recommended if you're in Malmesbury.

Wir sind ganz zufällig und ohne Vorerfahrung in Bezug auf Coffee#1 hier gelandet. Wir fanden die Einrichtung interessant und fanden auch noch einen freien Tisch. Zum Glück neigte sich die Rush Hour gerade ihrem Ende, sodass wir zwar etwas länger am Tresen warten mussten, aber die "Anlieferung am Tisch" recht zügig klappte. Der Kaffee war gut und die Cookies ebenfalls.

Vrij rumoerige ruimte. Waarschijnlijk hierdoor dat onze bestelling niet helemaal correct doorkwam. Best veel wespen aan de raamkant van de ruimte. Koffie zelf was wel goed, maar de ambiance iets minder. Voor wat betreft keuze in broodjes/cakes etc was ongeveer de helft van de vitrine uitverkocht, dus zeer beperkt.

We are great fans of Coffee #1 and were delighted to see a branch open in Malmesbury. However, all three of our visits to date have been disappointing for a number of reasons: having to wait ages to be served, lack of staff and so a harassed reception when you finally get served, no chocolate offered on the cappuccino, etc. On our last visit, we had to ask both members of staff not to pick up the cups to make coffee by putting their fingers inside the cups and were rewarded with a scowl. Still, they allow dogs, serve good coffee (when it eventually comes) and, anyway, it's still early days. Hope you get into your stride soon. Oh, and we'll still be back! :-)

Absolutely love visiting here and do most days! The staff are so friendly and couldn't be more helpful, always seeming to have a smile on their faces no matter what. With the air conditioning having recently been added the building is now nice and cool and lovely to spend some time having a drink and something to eat. They also have buy one get one free and smoothies and frappes all day which works out a bargain! Will definitely be popping in later for coffee and cake.

Brilliant place with an excellent selection of good leaf teas (often hard to find) as well as excellent coffee. Delicious food and a great selection. Fabulous vibe and excellent service. Highly recommend especially if you are a tea or coffee lover

We have been four times already and waiting for it to be added to Trip Advisor. Lovely place and the frappes and smoothies are delicious! We took advantage of the buy one get one free for the freak frappe ( the one with the doughnut on the top) ...not too sweet surprisingly and will have one again. We have not tried the food , but for hot or cold beverages it is perfect. Nicely decorated and the staff remain friendly and pleasant even when busy. Air conditioning has now been added , but you can take away the drinks if you want to. Plenty of nice places to sit with your smoothie around Malmesbury .

What a fantastic establishment. The building is stunning with great historical art work. The staff are very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help, recommending different products when I couldn't decide....cocont milk is great in a smoothie! I can not fault the staff or the business, however air conditioning would really help! I look forward to my next visit.

Had a coffe the other day and was delish! Staff were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere.

Visited shortly after the coffee shop first opened, greeted by friendly staff, a plesant atmosphere with their iconic styling of cafe interior. The cafe was bustling on my visit but the service was fantastic and the coffee met their usual high standards, the best decaf cappuccino I’ve had in a long time! Working in a coffee shop myself I was very impressed with everything service, coffee and atmosphere were great! Would recommend a visit!

I really enjoyed my visit last week. I particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere and staff were really friendly. I will definitely be back and will recommend to my colleagues.

Lovely smart coffee house. Nicely decorated offering beverages and light snacks. But it was stifling and uncomfortable to sit in a place with no air. I know we are having unusually hot weather but a smart place like this should either have ceiling fans or air conditioning. It won’t be the only hot weather spell we should be getting. I will visit again but when its cooler.
