Booked the pub for a evening meal. From theboutside looks good and the garden was busy with customers. Went in the restaurant and saw dogs are allowed in all the restaurant and for me the smell if dogs wasn't really good. Perhaps it would be better to have dogs on some part of it and not all. Anyway my wife ordered Cod and I one steak. Both meals came and the fish was under cooked and we sent it back. Another one was served and again undercooked and by this time I had finished my meal. Didn't enjoy my meal as my wife didn't have hers. Asked for the bill and they had the cheek to add 10% service charge!!!!!!! So we left without her having a meal at all. There was no apology for my wife.

I had the pleasure of lunching at the Potting Shed yesterday and I must say it was enjoyable and memorable. The meal began with a Double Gloucester soufflé that was nothing short of perfection. Light, airy, and full of rich, tangy flavour. For the main course, I opted for the ribeye steak and it didn't disappoint. Cooked medium rare, it was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere warm and inviting. Overall, The Potting Shed delivered a delightful dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for exceptional food and excellent service.

Went on Sunday with family for a birthday lunch, the roasts were a bit disappointing with overcooked yorkies and hard potatoes, however the beef and chicken were cooked really well. The starter choices ordered were nice, but we were really disappointed about only being able to order off the Sunday menu as I enquired two weeks prior to our booking and was told we could definitely order from either the main or the Sunday menu which was not the case and left little choice for a member of our group with allergies. It wouldn’t have been such a disappointment had I not been assured of this prior to the booking. We had to go up to the bar a couple times to order a few drinks and a forgotten yorkie but not the end of the world. Staff seemed a bit flustered, but expected on a busy Sunday lunch.

Fish and chips was very greasy. Tho the fish was tasty inside the batter. What killed it was the bill..they included a 10% charge for service which couldn't be taken off...we were a group of 6. Minimal service ie only meals brought out to table. The service charge was £25.00. . Unless they change this system we will not be returning. I would rather pay a tip to the waiter/waitress personally...at a cost I could afford.

We’ve been coming here for a number of years; great pub with a lovely atmosphere and the food was usually pretty good. Returned for a meal last night, unfortunately the food was awful. The sourdough had the texture of rubber and the food portions were extremely small. The chicken was clearly microwaved and fish was a third of the size it used to be. We spent well over £80 and left hungry. Sadly, I would no longer recommend this as a place to eat unless the food quality improves. Nice place for a drink though..

Saturday 18th January 2025: Dinner for 6, with ages ranging from 69 to 25. This is a lovely pub, with a great, casual and relaxed atmosphere. It's obviously very popular, so booking ahead would be sensible. We had a good sized table for our group of 6. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was cracking. Lovely scallops and pork croquettes to start, and my son and his fiance had an absolutely excellent chateaubriand for their main - cooked to perfection. The best he's ever had apparently. Highly recommended.

An increíble and cozy place. The food was amazing. We had the "Cecina de leon", The twice-baked Double Gloucester soufflé, some tendersteam broccoli with chili, but the star of the night was the Pan fried chicken, creamy mash, seasonal greens, madeira sauce... for dessert lemon, salted caramel, and straberry with mint ice cream and sorbet. With a double Laphroaig whisky. Top of this trip to UK so far. If you happen to be around this part of the world... you should make a stop for sure.

My wife and I went to the Potting Shed for dinner a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Great pub and restaurant vibe and the food was delicious. Excellent selection of beer and wine. Some of the tables in the bar are slightly overlooked if there are lots of people drinking, but that is the nature of a pub. Decent enough, but preferred the Wheatsheaf down the road. Booking on line seems flawed, we ended up eating earlier than we wanted, as no later slots were available, but many tables stayed empty all the time we were there, so felt we should have been able to get a better time. We have eaten here many times, enjoying the general décor and ambiance, relaxed service friendly helpful staff and good quality varied lunch menu. We have recommended the pub to many friends who have felt likewise, one to add to the list. However....had our last visit to celebrate by wife's birthday been our first, we would not have visited again for sure. We didn't recognise any of the staff with whom we would always enjoy friendly banter and our table waitress was disinterested at best in providing any level of interest in our needs. She appeared just to be going through the motions dropping the menus on the table, not giving any comments. When asking for water which came eventually, it was ungracefully dumped at one end of the table for us to deal with. The sea bream which is our favourite when on the menu, was redeeming albeit the salsa style sauce vierge was a bit overpowering. In short guys, please get your staff to cheer up, offer advice, maybe smile just once and be a little more courteous when bringing food drink and the bill to the table.

I had been recommended this gastropub by a food loving friend so I had high hopes for a good meal and inviting ambience . Unfortunately our table was positioned facing the kitchen with an open window and door that never seemed to shut. This meant that we could see and hear all of the kitchen clean up work when the food service stopped including the noisy hoovering and plate clattering/ clashing as they cleared away . The other side of our table backed onto a bar area where The staff congregated to chat which was distracting and annoying . 3 of us ordered the wild Mushroom Mac and cheese truffle with truffle crumb as it sounded delicious however it was very bland and had no taste of mushroom Or truffle . We fed this back to the waitress and she gave us some truffle oil to add to our dishes which made a big difference Other people in our group had burgers which they were happy with, And the fish dish looked lovely Sadly we left the establishment wishing we had sat somewhere else and ordered differently

Dropped in for a soft drink and a rest on my journey from Dorset to Coventry. I waited for over ten minutes for service. There was only one member of staff on the bar, (who was attentive, engaging and professional) but there were numerous young servers/bar staff at the back of the bar on mobiles who didn't engage with the bar queue. I listened into the other people waiting, so local, who said this was normal, especially at Friday late afternoon. It's such a beautiful building, with great outside space and decent parking but tatty and to be honest grubby. Toilets especially need attention. It needs some TLC and investment from the owners, together with some more experienced staff to make this a worthwhile place to stop. I get the feeling that it survives based on the comments on Trip Advisor and their like. It could be so much more.

Both couples travelled about 90 minutes to meet for Sunday lunch. We’d driven past regularly when heading to Dorset so thought this would be a good meeting place. Very busy when we arrived but managed to park, the outside area was rammed so after a quick drink outside, we headed in for lunch. We all had Sunday roast which was excellent, beautiful beef and followed up with 4 fabulous desserts. Great service from the young lady serving us. Like outside, the pub was flat out and other than chasing up our drinks a few times, it was great. It deserved 5 stars, the only negative point was after lunch on a beautiful day we thought we’d take a drink outside in the garden. All available tables were overflowing with empty plates of food and drinks glasses. We cleared all of the dirty plates to one end of the table but due to the flies buzzing around we asked a member of staff if they could clear our table. Well …….. it was done but if looks could kill….. we thanked her several times as she cleared the table…. She just glared at us and didn’t speak a word. Everyone eating pays a 10% service charge…. Well this young lady deserves nothing, unfortunately she will get a cut of the tips…. She let the Potting Shed down….. they don’t need her, but I’m sure they will find some reason to excuse her disgraceful behaviour.

The food was mostly great. The burger grilled on fire, amazing. The fish portion was on a smaller side. However, I love the generous portion of crunchy broccoli, yum! Nicely situated, lovely old building. We went as a family group to celebrate a 90th birthday and the server we had was patient and very friendly. There was however not one single plant based/vegan option on the entire menu when we visited, which in 2024 is a regular requirement. This was difficult as out of our party of 12, we had two vegan members and someone else with a serious dairy allergy (I believe the focus when we booked was the area and whether our larger party could be physically accommodated). Upon asking, the chefs were able to prepare a simple pasta dish with veggies and olive oil, which was satisfying but rather basic. The fish dish I had was cooked well but a little bland, which for the price was quite disappointing. This is probably a great pub for those who are fine to eat meat.
