I visited today with my newborn and the staff were so lovely. They were quick to help me get my food and drink to the table while I juggled my baby, happy to provide hot water for me to heat up his milk and moved furniture so I could sit comfortably with the pram. The food was lovely too but the service is what made it for me.

Reeves is a delicious bakery, and the staff are lovely. They always have a chat with you. The prices are quite high, but that’s across them all so you can’t really say anything bad about the Devizes branch for that. Their ‘To Good To Go’ bags are really as well.

Lovely bakery, unfortunately our visit was ruined by their shockingly unprofessional manager doing a totally audible personal development review with a browbeaten staff member at a regular table no less, a mere 2 metres from us. We heard the whole thing, she doesn't sell enough cakes apparently. Couldn't he find a private place? Put us right off our tea having to be subjected to his arrogant rubbish. Why would anyone want to witness that?

Perfect spot for a coffee and snack on a drizzly May day (where is the spring/). The choice of food is amazing, and the smells are heavenly. I had a bacon roll and it was to die for - and I really appreciate a venue with no sachets. Bring on the big bottle every time. Mum asked for a lucky dip pastry so, after a wide selection, I went for the cinnamon whirl which she loved. Add a spotless and sweet-smelling toilet, and delightfully happy and friendly staff, and you are in a bit of British heaven. (And we came back to buy the raspberry and almond tart - perhaps more anon.)

I have bought cakes from here to take away, which although they are pricey have always been tasty. However, I had a decaf americano and chocolate chip shortbread, the coffee was very weak and not hot and the shortbread was overbaked. The floor was dirty. I would expect more for the prices they charge, particularly as there is so much competition in town for cafes.

My husband was greeted with confrontation when entering the bakery due to the fact he didn't wear a mask due to a medical condition. He was questioned and when given his response, eyebrows were raised as if what he said was untrue. This made him extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. He bought a sausage roll and pastie. They are the worst we have ever tasted, the pastie was like baby food inside and the sausage roll made with cheap pork meat full of water. Bad bad bad.

Perhaps we were unlucky to visit Reeves during a busy period. But it seems like a ‘local shop for local people.’...... It was not immediately clear that you had to queue at one end of the counter for ‘eat in’ and at the other end for ‘take away’, and the staff member was very dismissive of me being at the wrong one. There was no menu visible. The staff seemed to pay much more attention to regulars. They had run out of some items ( and one of the staff had set aside an item in anticipation of it running out for paying visitors). And I ended up queuing for about 15 minutes. The toasted sandwich we bought was actually quite nice, but the ’Wiltshire pasty’ was indifferent at best (was it ‘Special’?).

I travel from Marlborough just for Reeve's sourdough bread and baguettes. No one, not even Waitrose's new , bakes such wonderful bread and rolls within our radius. My wife and I went in here last week as we were shopping in the town. We decided to sit down and so ordered at the counter. I appreciate that "eat in" prices will always be higher than "take out" prices but there is a big difference here. I had a tea, the wife a coffee and two so called Cornish pasties. Not much you can get wrong with the drinks but the pasties were awful, tasteless, very little content and barely warm. As I understand it, a "Cornish" pasty should contain beef skirt, potato, onion, swede and some seasoning, these contained an unidentifiable mush which looked like it had come from a tin of cheap dog food.A large splodge of brown sauce made them slightly more edible but my wife ate barely half of hers, made worse when she bit down on a large piece of gristle in her pasty which did it for her. I left a bit but have to say it was terrible. As we needed some bread, we bought a large farmhouse loaf on the way out, at £1.75 it was expensive. When we got back home, we cut a few slices off to make a couple of sandwiches as we were still hungry and the bread was hard. So, not much at all to recommend about this place, in a town full of cafes and tea rooms it seriously needs to up its game. Certainly the last time we will ever go there, for a snack or to buy bread.

My wife and I stopped here for a cup of tea and a cake/sandwich. We sat outside where there are a small number of tables for smokers, I guess? However, It was clear that customers had been sat at the tables and had now left because the outside tables were still full of used cups, crockery and cutlery. I had to go inside and ask a server to come out and clear our table. Once clear I then had to go inside again and ask him to wipe our table clean. This he did with much reluctance. Come on this is basic stuff. By the by, the tea was cold and my bacon sandwich was also. We wont be going there again.

A lack luster tea for two £7.95, dry old swiss roll chopped up and a cup cake represented the "selction of cake" and you were asked to pick 2 rounds of sandwiches from the fridge that then took 15 mins at least to be cut and added to a double layer tea tray/stand with the cakes they choose for you. It's okay. A bit dull, usually empty, but that's Chippenham post-lockdown. It's not their fault. They won't let people over 8' tall sit on their tables, which is ridiculous and impractical/uncomfortable. ... I haven't been in for a while. Last there for a wake. A bit chilly. Of course, they're aiming to be dull. Good for events. The name is deeply inappropriate: The engineer who built the house hated Brunel - apparently a common experience at the time. Couldn't avoid him either - big contract, building the neighbouring viaduct. The Arches would be a better name. I apologise; I'm not in the right mood for writing objective reviews. It's nice Chippenham has several of these large Pubs.
