Absolute gem of a cafe. Excellent food, my Ploughman’s Salad was divine….and the coffee was perhaps as good as I’ve ever tasted and believe me I’m a coffee connoisseur! Can’t wait to visit next time I’m nearby

We visit here fairly regularly, but have been disappointed with the coffee on recent visits - too hot, no pattern and coffee and milk mixed. The new barista probably needs some training. Also on a recent visit on Saturday, was surprised by the unhelpfulness of a young waitress, so different to the normal staff. However still great food, so well worth going.

Had lunch with a friend. Food was very tasty and nice size portions. We were impressed with their customer care because a patron had left something behind and two members of staff were sent out to find the person and return it.

My breakfast was lovely but my husband had bacon and scrambled eggs on roast. He couldn’t cut through the bacon. I asked for a glass of water which never came and when I asked to pay was told to hold on by a young waitress. I waited a long time, she passed by a few times but I had to go to find another waiter to pay.

After perusing the market we needed a hot drink and cake. We both had hot chocolate with marshmallows and I had a pain aux chocolate. All very welcome on a cold day. Service was friendly and our drinks came quickly. The cafe was clean and presentable and accessible from both the market and Main Street. We’d gladly return 👍

The food was okay. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive which was one coffee and a diet coke, this arrived after food. The waitress serving us was incredibly rude, miserable and had the most disgusting nails. Literally black under her nails, made me feel sick at the thought of her touching plates with food on.

had a bacon and eggs breakfast roll... top notch.. roll was fresh as you like with crafted bread, the bacon was thin, maple cured perfectly cooked and the egg was cooked there on the spot so fresh and soft centred to melt into the grainy roll. coffee was a great top off.

Have visited twice this week as they serve gluten free options. First visit with my friend, we ordered ciabata each I stated gluten free as I have coeliac disease, which is serious and you have to be very careful with your diet. I spoke to, presumably the owner, a lady with long red hair, and said how impressed I was with the fact they did a lot of gluten free. When the waitress brought out the order I took a bite and it was delicious, I waved to the owner and said the gluten free ciabata was fab. She looked alarmed and took it from me saying it wasn't gluten free 🤦🏼‍♀️. My friend was left to eat hers alone until mine arrived. I am a fan of supporting independents and decided to visit with my partner today. I ordered a bagel for him and a gluten free plowmans for myself. When the food arrived I looked at the bread and said I didn't think it was gluten free. And guess what.....it wasn't. By the time my correct order came my partner had finished his. The waiter just handed it over, my partner said to him that they should review their kitchen procedures. He looked non plussed. Then the owner appeared on site and when I went to pay I asked if she has heard that it had happened again. To my surprise she implied it was my fault for not being clear when I ordered and that if I came again ( not likely) that I should be clear !!! Unbelievable attitude, don't blame the client for your errors. I would not recommend this place due to their laissez-faire attitude to food intolerance.

Celiacs AVOID! laissez FAIR Attitude of staff to food intolerance 2nd visit in two weeks and second time staff served normal bread instead of Gluten free bread!. I told waiter they should review there ordering process only to be looked at non plussed. At payment was told by another staff member to make it clear nextime. There won't be a nextime. Once is unfortunate twice is foolish. I will be contacting CELIAC UK Also food is expensive and I've never had to pay for a side salad (£4.50)

We’ve been here before but not for 6 months. My eggs royale was ok. My husband had the fry up. Which was served without the egg. We pointed out and they happily said they’d sort it out. They didn’t take the breakfast but my husband waited to eat it altogether 10 minutes later fried egg arrived served a saucer by which point the rest of the breakfast was lukewarm. Had he started eating the breakfast he would have had alone fried to eat. The sausage and bacon were just about cooked. It was very disappointing and no apology. The main difference this time was that all the staff looked under 18. We won’t be returning.

This cafe is a little gem in amongst a number of eateries. There’s seating at the front and back looking onto the square. Friendly staff, great table service and fabulous food. The fry up was delicious the sausage in particular. You get a good size pot of tea for one. They’re dog friendly bringing us a bowl of water for our dog.

We visit here regularly for coffee with the occasional treat or lunch. Being 'coffee snobs' as our friends call us, we have tried various listed 'best in Salisbury' coffee places and are surprised that Stones is not one of them. Try it - you will not be disappointed and may even agree with us that it is really the best in Salisbury for coffee as well as watching the world go by in the square when it is warm enough!

It was really busy (unsurprisingly) but they they found us a small table. Just want to say manager and staff were friendly, professional and made us feel welcome. Importantly, it was a fantastic bacon roll, or cob as we say further up north.

I’ve been looking for a nice breakfast cafe in Salisbury for a while and have visited many establishments and left disappointed but I think I have found my current favourite. The cafe is clean, light and not cramped. The toilets were clean spacious. The food was very nice and hot and the tea is served in a classic tea pot with sugar cubes on the table. I had the full English breakfast which overall was very nice, it comes with butchers bacon and a classic pork sausage. The fried egg was Perfectly cooked and the sourdough toast was fresh. My only observation was that the beans were reduced sugar/salt version and these were not too my taste. Overall I’d score this 8/10. My wife had eggs Benedict, which she said was very nice, only observation here was that she thought the dish would have benefited from another egg but I guess we can order an extra one next time. Score 7.5/10 My daughter had a hot chocolate with marshmallows, she is 9 and scored this a 10/10 Overall very happy. I will definitely visit again, Overall score 9/10

Really really disappointing. It’s apparently table service, but after waiting 20 minutes for any attention at all I tried to order at the till but was told to sit down just for the ‘waitress’ to stand around and check her phone, re-tie her hair and stare into space. I eventually had my order taken by someone else, no friendliness at all. It wasn’t busy (i can see why) no more than 3 tables including me. Food arrived before drinks, this ‘table service’ doesn’t extend to paying the bill, you have to go to the till for that. Honestly I wouldn’t go back based on the service, the food was massively overpriced but the coffee was fine. Really disappointing, trying to avoid chains and support local but won’t be doing that again!

Called at Stones Kitchen Cafe yesterday (returning visit) late morning, which is market day on a Saturday in Salisbury, when we were lucky to find a vacant table inside. There are numerous tables outside, both facing out to the market and at the other end of the cafe in a side street. We ordered two lattes together with a panini (chicken, pesto, avocado) and a bagel filled with salami and other goodies. Just after we ordered there was a heavy downpour of rain when people flocked into the already filled cafe expecting tables to be readied for their convenience, with one woman quite miffed that a party of four were not leaving but were just settling into their table to order, and who then proceeded to shout 'TOILETS' at a very efficient and overworked member of staff, rather than politely asking where the toilets could be found. The staff were very efficient and polite throughout despite being very busy and with the added burden of colleague(s) having not turned up for work without having phoned in. Our drinks and snacks were served in a timely manner and were simply outstanding. Both the panini and bagel together with their high quality fillings were fresh and warmed throughout and was considered very good value. The review from a couple of days earlier ('best avoid, very disappointing revisit') bears no resemblance whatsoever to how we found this cafe on a very busy morning with staff coping admirably, particularly so given several of the customers appeared to be, shall we say, less than easy to accommodate. I will have no hesitation in returning to Stones Kitchen on subsequent visits to Salisbury.

Came here on my own on a Saturday morning for some breakfast. Plenty of space to sit and got served quickly. Ordered the smashed avocado on toast with some added bacon and a iced coconut milk latte. Only had to wait 10 mins for food to come and it was lovely! Big portion also, only thing that let down was my latte was far too strong I couldn’t drink it but overall really happy. Thanks guys

What has happened to this place? I used it quite often when possible in covid restricted times and enjoyed it, buzzy atmosphere, good staff, good menu and nice food but I went for the first time in a year and what a disappointment! Scaled down menu (eggs royale now just scrambled egg and sm salmon on toast) and questionable quality at inflated price. Took a friend visiting from France here, not impressed, won't be returning. Such a shame, great location on the lovely market square, it should be busy but on this warm, sunny morning there was hardly anyone there where others places were buzzing - should have realised why!

We’ve never had cause to complain, and have always been very happy with our local Wetherspoons. Sadly we were disappointed to be told that they had no small bottles of Prosecco, which we understood, but we were unable to buy white wine by the glass, except for a Chardonnay, which we didn’t want. Is this a new Policy or a blip in ordering?

Went on Sunday with family for a birthday lunch, the roasts were a bit disappointing with overcooked yorkies and hard potatoes, however the beef and chicken were cooked really well. The starter choices ordered were nice, but we were really disappointed about only being able to order off the Sunday menu as I enquired two weeks prior to our booking and was told we could definitely order from either the main or the Sunday menu which was not the case and left little choice for a member of our group with allergies. It wouldn’t have been such a disappointment had I not been assured of this prior to the booking. We had to go up to the bar a couple times to order a few drinks and a forgotten yorkie but not the end of the world. Staff seemed a bit flustered, but expected on a busy Sunday lunch.
