Booked last minute and pleasantly surprised. Great building, tradition and very clean. Had dinner and drinks which were wonderful and great value. The room was lovely- everything you needed. The place was very busy and Ness did a fantastic job making sure everyone was looked after. The best thing was the delicious breakfast before we set off!

The perfect spot for breakfast, coffee, lunch or dinner when in Shaldon. Service is superb, food offering has good choice, well cooked, reasonably priced. Absolutely love stopping for a coffee and cake on the terrace area overlooking the river. Can’t wait to go back,

This is a little gem in Teignmouth! Very understated from outside, but once inside the staff are in full customer care mode. We were greeted by friendly bar staff who explained our table wasn’t ready, however we could have a drink at the bar. All good for us as we enjoy a relaxed dining style. No stress. We were shown to our table and the menu explained. We knew it’s was tapas but the waiter explained the rough number of dishes to order as a couple. We ate everything from the standard tapas dish, Patatas Bravas, to a gorgeous Chicken dish with Thyme & Lemon, Chorizo in red wine, Lobster Arancini and Goats Cheese. Every dish was really lovely and felt like a unique experience in the area. We didn’t experience the cocktails, but finished dinner with a liquor coffee. The bill was a pleasant surprise too as we were estimating a lot more! Would recommend and will definitely be returning when back visiting family in Teignmouth later in the year. Thank you all!

Forest Fungi is a great breakfast / brunch spot. The breakfast menu is served until 2 and offers some unusual and delicious options, mushrooms are front and centre as you would expect. They have also introduced a BBQ menu and offer tea and cake in the afternoon. There is a small farm shop on site and a good range of fresh baked goods. The service is friendly and approachable and prices reasonable. The best thing about Forest Fungi is the food, high quality, fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time. At the weekend it is sensible to book in advance.

What a gem! From Booking to leaving the staff were great! All the staff were so attentive and friendly… a great team! The rooms was far superior to what we were expecting from a 2 star hotel… I’ve stayed in 4 stars that didn’t have this quality so have no idea why it’s so low rated. Family room was brilliant… 2 rooms with an a joining door. Lovely hot water, tea facilities with bottles of water and biscuits left. Can’t fault anything. Woukd definitely stay again and recommend to others.

My partner and I had a half day in Teignmouth whilst staying at nearby Torquay. On arrival we visited this coffee shop and weren’t disappointed. Great coffee, a good choice of cakes and a lovely window seat. What more could we ask for before exploring the town.

Daisy’s tea room is a little gem. There were 6 of us with ages ranging from 17 to 83 and we easily found food and drink that suited us all. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful even though it was very busy and the tea room and tables were very clean. One of us had a prawn sandwich to eat which came with a side salad and a few crisps, two had the ham and cheese panini which they said had just the right amount of filling, one had a prawn mayo salad which was tasty and filling and the other had the soup of the day with a chicken sandwich. We had various drinks and then a slice of cake. The cakes are absolutely delicious! We tried the lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut and Victoria sponge and thoroughly enjoyed them all! The portion sizes here are generous without being too much and we all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be returning.

What a great tradditional Inn. 800yrs of history and character. Superb location, albeit down a few country lanes. All bedrooms with ensuite. Spacious and comfy. Fully loaded pub with snooker room, and darts room, bar and lounge and quiet reading snug type lounge. Large dinning room with breakfast bar. Large beer garden. Fully operational commercial kitchen. Stock your own bar and music player that feeds music to all areas. We had 20 family members in our group and all enjoyed the facilities. Would recommend to others who want a family holiday. We all did our own sightseeing in the daytime and came home to the pub to eat as a family and enjoy pub type nightime, with games, music, chat and a drink. Awesome!! Lastly, great and friendly host, always on hand if needed, but allowed you to enjoy the facilities. Superb !!

We were welcomed by the head bar man, what a gentleman & a legend taking the time to talk to us. We had visited Buckfast Abbey & drove through this quaint little village, parked cheaply in the pay & display & popped into this small village pub. Great little traditional pub, pool table on the right hand side, very clean & throughout. Good selection of beer & ales. We sat in their well tendered gardens. Definitely recommend for a stop off.

We come to Broadhempston on holiday each year and every time we visit the Monks Retreat for dinner. Sadly this experience was not a good one. We had a lovely waitress and ordered our meal, I ordered the sirloin steak as it was the last steak available and it was inedible. This was not the issue, why ask your staff to check if our food is ok, if when told no the steak is not ok, they do nothing? We were then left without being asked if we would like dessert and not even an apology offered. Such a shame that the staff seem to spend all their time sat on their phones rather than caring for their customers.

What a fantastic place to spend an hour or two enjoying the grade 2 listed interior of this former pharmacy. The staff were lovely and welcoming, spending ages making a fuss of our dogs, before we had the difficult decision on what to order. I opted for the mushrooms on toast while my other half went straight in for a slice of blueberry and lemon cake which not only looked fantastic, it tasted amazing. We even took a few slices with us to have on the train. We’ll definitely be come back a few more times this week

Had a moment and wanted to check this great place was open after some confusing social media reports. It’s still there as good as ever and I was pleased to return after a while of me coming when not open. Same great format and food arrived cooked from scratch. I had the small breakfast but I could not clear it all. Great bacon, proper cafe sausage, tasty hash brown and nice mushrooms. I’d ask for fried bread to be separated next time. More expensive than previous but it’s now off beaten track so I’m happy to support it as a local legend. Well worth a proper breakfast outing!!
