Late booking and I have to say I cannot believe what a great experience it was.! Off the beaten track but a fabulous building full of character and the landlady Ness was just delightfull.! Food was outstanding in the evening and unbelievable value for money. Quiet location, a really comfy bed, a great nights sleep and the breakfast was as good as we have had on our road trip travels.! Don’t miss out, if it comes up on your search, book it sharpish and book a table for dinner so you don’t miss out.! 10 out of 10.. We will be back if in the area again.!

The place was very busy and Ness did a fantastic job making sure everyone was looked after. The best thing was the delicious breakfast before we set off!

A bit tired and run down. The chef doesn't get up for breakfast at a sensible time. Dinner was average and I ate among other guests dogs, I'm allergic to pet dander, and screaming kids, which I'm developing an allergy to. They pour Guinness properly which is always a huge plus for me. Won't go back however.

I recently had the misfortune to visit this establishment, I'm 83 years old and have had such a poor experience as I had here. There was some miscommunication between my table and the waitress, instead of the owner addressing the situation discretely, she presumed we were at fault and approached the table in a hostile manner, when the issue was discussed it was a passing joke which the waitress took out of proportion.......... it was about olives! Furthermore the food below standard and we will not be visiting again.

We visited this lovely old pub for dinner as a couple, after reading about the history and that it is one of the oldest pubs in England. The road leading up to it is single track, and the pub itself is beautifully remote, which we like for the peace and tranquility. From the moment we arrived the waitress was really attentive and hospitable. She really is an asset to the pub, highly professional and knowledgeable about the history of the building. The food was absolutely delicious. Starters were amazing - I had the mushroom bruschetta and hubby had the Chinese style pork. We both enjoyed a homemade steak and ale pie and chips for our mains. The pastry was out of this world! The wine and beer selection was excellent too. When the bill came we were very pleasantly surprised - we paid half the price that we had paid a few nights before, at another local restaurant with a posh, foodie reputation. We actually preferred our evening and the food at The Cridford Inn. Highly recommend. We are hoping to visit again on our next visit to Devon. 😊

Would not necessarily recommend staying here. Rooms are beautifully traditional, but obvs not soundproof and the pub/restaurant customers can be noisy. Breakfast is regimented in content and timing, with constant background music even if you are not a fan of Radio 2, loud, early. Dinner is okay. More loud music. Not cheap. Parking is limited when busy and staff not always helpful with space. Mine host is cheery and efficient. Mine hostess…hmmm.

A hidden little gem in the middle of nowhere. Stayed over for two nights as we were going to the Let's Rock 80's festival in Exeter. The hosts were excellent and the food was delicious. I had the fresh Meatball linguine as a main and the creamy mushroom on bruschetta as a starter. It was amazing. Breakfast was pre ordered on arrival for the two days. MORE AT TripAdvisor

We stayed for one night and dinner and were so disappointed in the whole situation experience, because of the reviews we were expecting it to be amazing. First of all the room was very small with no room to open out a tiny suitcase, I didn’t want to empty it for one night. The headboard on the bed creaked all night, every time one of us turned over it creaked keeping us awake, the pillows hard and the bed would definitely not accommodate larger people we are only small and struggled. The flush didn’t work properly. However the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. Although the walls are really thick and the floors squeak which is fine with us we love olde worlde, the doors to the rooms are so thin you can hear everything and everyone going past your room and obviously visa versa!! Not much privacy. Our meal, which was refunded was awful, the steak on one was 1/3 fat and the other because they were cooked together half the thickness was overcooked and dry as old boots. We waited till breakfast as we had booked two nights to decide whether to stay on thinking it may be a saving grace, it wasn’t. The breakfast according to the chef was already cooked waiting for just the eggs to cook despite being given an allotted time to eat, so the bacon was burnt and dried out the sausage although local was not a breakfast sausage, it had quite a strong flavour and the coffee was so strong you could stand a spoon up in it!! The eggs were perfect and really tasty. Outside it’s neglected with the bench seating in dire need of replacing, they have splintered and are very wobbly. There is an arch that has screws sticking out if it all the way around it, not child friendly shown in photo. The host was tired looking and although polite not very approachable, she seemed to be trying to do too many jobs and hence not giving her best to any. We had a lecture on arrival on how we could be putting her life at risk if we didn’t follow the procedures they have with handing in keys if going out or keeping them if our after 10p.m, it felt it was more about her safety not ours. All in all it was very structured staying here, waiting to be seated at dinner having specific breakfast times allotted, so didn’t feel a relaxing break. We received as I said a refund for the meal but no effort was made to try to offer us a refund for the night we didn’t stay or to try to give us an incentive to stay. The reviews were the reason we booked but it wasn’t what they said it was. We have never written a review before but felt that this needed to be reviewed for other people’s benefit.

The owners of this historically old farmhouse turned Inn are the loveliest people. We had such a fantastic 2 night stay , the drive in for an American was a bit hairy single lane country road, but the end destination was worth the payout. The restaurant was excellent and the cook to order English breakfast was tasty. If your visiting Devon I would not hesitate to book this for a truly authentic experience of old England

Getting there was a treat for itself… mainly on single track roads… good fun for the entire family… then we arrived in time for dinner and expected ‚traditional‘ pub food… WRONG!! we had squid and pork belly starters, both prepared to perfection. Same as our main courses, Beef Wellington and Steak Pie… what an experience! Forget Ketchup and Mayo, take the jus!!! We then staid overnight to wake up for a full English with black pudding. Make sure you visit this gem on your way to Cornwall, you won’t regret it!

I liked that they had old beer mats to use as hand towels in the bathrooms. Make sure not to miss the mosaic from hundreds of years ago in part of the building. As we were staying, we enjoyed the breakfast and evening meals. Food was excellent and as we arrived on a Sunday, the place was extremely busy with Sunday lunches. East recommend.

We loved the olde worlde feel of the pub, and the atmosphere. The food was lovely - albeit pricy for what you get.

This is a little gem in Teignmouth! Very understated from outside, but once inside the staff are in full customer care mode. We were greeted by friendly bar staff who explained our table wasn’t ready, however we could have a drink at the bar. All good for us as we enjoy a relaxed dining style. No stress. We were shown to our table and the menu explained. We knew it’s was tapas but the waiter explained the rough number of dishes to order as a couple. We ate everything from the standard tapas dish, Patatas Bravas, to a gorgeous Chicken dish with Thyme & Lemon, Chorizo in red wine, Lobster Arancini and Goats Cheese. Every dish was really lovely and felt like a unique experience in the area. We didn’t experience the cocktails, but finished dinner with a liquor coffee. The bill was a pleasant surprise too as we were estimating a lot more! Would recommend and will definitely be returning when back visiting family in Teignmouth later in the year. Thank you all!

Went with a couple of friends of mine for a Christmas dinner. We didn’t have an issue with starter or the sweet. The staff were lovely. But can someone tell me why when you choose beef it has to be red in the middle. Then your given a steak knife with a serrated edge to cut it which failed miserably .It makes no sense. You might say I should have complained but why should I upset a waitress when she had nothing to do with it. This very rarely happens when you order a carvery in a pub. Sorry for the rant but at £45 a head I think we deserved better. Would have been a 2 rating had it not been for the good service Bob
