I love the cheese straws that seem to be unique to Luders, order early as they sell out very quickly. Best jam doughnuts I've come across, and when in season the strawberry flans are not to be missed.

I came to Teignmouth in '88 and was introduced to Luder's as I worked in the town. I was immediately blown away with the sheer quality of the produce and the absolute skill with which EVERYTHING was made. Fast foreard 2024, I had long moved away from the lovely Teignmouth but return whenever I can and always visit Luders. As well as delicious produce, the service is spot on too! We had the absolute best cheese straws in the world, chicken patties, amazing pork pies, flans, Quiches, superb chocolate work and ALL of it made on the premisses. I find it incredible that the quality and standards have not changed since 1988, and probably before. Thank you Mr Houghton 👑

Amazing cake shop! I have been going on holiday to Teignmouth every year for the past 10 years, and every time the absolute first thing we do is go to Luders as tradition! You know it’s a good cake shop when there’s a queue! The chocolate horns, cheese twists, almond macaroons…. All delicious! For the first time we tried the bacon and egg bap and they were genuinely the nicest breakfast sandwiches we’ve ever had - including them making the bacon extra crispy upon request :)

As a coffee lover who has been told to restrict caffeine intake, it is great to have a place that serves decaf coffee that is as good as the regular stuff. I would go as far as to say that their decaf is as good as any regular coffee served in Teignmouth. The cakes and pastries are all delicious and there is always a decent choice in the window. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Looked on this site before visiting and tried another cafe where I had to leave the boiling hot coffee in a cup far too large. This has only seats outside but fortunately has been sunny on most days. Lovely coffee and croissants so not going to try anywhere else. Often a queue which must tell you its a fab place. Lovely staff too.

In the area for a week on holiday and we have been buying cakes from various bakeries. Some have been good. Some have been no more than bog standard. Saw this shop in Teignmouth and just thought I would get a couple of cakes and we could sit over by the sea and eat them. Friendly lady served me and advised what the cakes were. Not expensive. Took our paper bags and found a bench on the prom. We were not just pleasantly surprised we were almost overcome with delight. Wonderful cakes ! We shared a Caramel Tart and a Luderlei ( I think it was called ). The Caramel Tart deserves its capital letters and was exceedingly good. The Luderlei (?) was a chocolate case filled with a rum and raisin truffle. Sheer bliss. Only problem was that we had a bus to catch so not enough time to go and buy more. Lucky Teignmouth, having such a cake shop.

Teignmouth is so lucky to have this little gem in the town. Lots of delicious cakes which you will not see anywhere else in the town. Their cheese straws are famous. If you like cheese straws then you must buy some of these as they really are special and uniquely different to those which you can buy elsewhere. When my friends come to visit they always make a beeline for Luders and buy lots of these cheese straws for the journey home. The pastries are delicious especially the ones with the apricot and marzipan centre and there are lots of other yummy things to buy too such as boxes of biscuits and fudge, jams, honey etc.,. You can sit outside the shop and have coffee and cakes/scones and watch the world go by as there are several tables and chairs. Nice friendly staff. As I say, a real little gem.

I live in Teignmouth and I have to say that in my many years of global travel, enjoying a good pie as I go, Luder's is by a long chalk the greatest purveyors of Steak and Kidney or Chicken and Mushroom pies this reviewer has ever encountered. The other stuff they have on offer sure does look good but it's the pies I go in for. In fact as I write this I feel the need to nip down the road and grab one for lunch. We visited this quaint little patisserie on a sunny Saturday afternoon.Very small inside but room to sit outside. We placed our order for a Danish pastry, doughnut, coffee and milkshake. The waitress said she would bring the items to us. After quite a few minutes she came out with the cakes and coffee and said the milkshake would be along shortly.Due to the warnings about the seagulls pinching food we ate our cakes straight away, both very tasty, but still waited for the milkshake! My husband loves milkshakes and was expecting a fancy thick shake to arrive, I had nearly finished my coffee by the time the shake arrived, which was just milk with some vanilla flavour so couldn't really see why it took so long!Just another observation, when taking an order for coffee and asking if milk is required, it helps to leave room for the milk in the cup so that the customer doesn't overfill the cup and end up with coffee in the saucer, which then drips everywhere when you try to drink it!

Can't believe the veracity of these reviews. Seriously rock hard scone, thick heavy Danish pastry would make a good doorstop, soggy sausage rolls, emulsified mush of a so called "traditional" Cornish pastie- never tasted anything like it. Bad hair day? - I don't think so. Coffee passable but only just. Don't like to beat up on folks but this place is so far from a patisserie it is really a joke. 1950's Cake Shop would aptly fit the bill. On a sunny morning we decided to pop along the coast to Teignmouth. After parking on The Point we ambled through the quaint streets to Luder's, a bakery/cafe with outside seating area which we had visited before. We chose small cups of coffee (most places have 'regular' and 'large' but Luder's actually serve small cups of coffee if requested, and they are more than adequate for us.)Being close to lunch time we chose to have sausage rolls with our beverages and when asked whether we would like them hot or cold, I said "hot" thinking that would make them more pleasant to eat.I was wrong. What we had were rather greasy sausage rolls - the heat bringing out the grease even more - and I'm afraid I had to leave much of mine. These might appeal to others, but sadly not to us. This is just a personal taste, and I think perhaps a mistake to have sausage rolls warmed up. So, folks, they are Best Eaten Cold.To finish our light meal we shared a coconut macaroon and this was delicious. By the time we had finished eating and drinking the mist had rolled in from the sea and it was chilly sitting outside - there is no indoor seating area - so we swiftly made our way back along a now almost-invisible promenade to our car and the journey home.Luder's has lovely cakes, we've not yet tried the pies or pasties, and the staff are warm and friendly. A lovely place when sunny.

Lovely cakes and catering. Excellent staff. Right in the heart of Teignmouth - in the Triangle - a little gem.

We had an 80th Birthday Cake made for 50 people. The cake was beautifully decorated with hand made yellow roses, and it tasted absolutely fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it, and it was well worth the money. HIghly recommended.

Just had some cheese straws from Luder's and have to say they take a lot of beating. All of their cakes are excellent and over the years Chris has produced a number of great one off gateaux and cakes for us for special occasions. Enjoy!

The perfect spot for breakfast, coffee, lunch or dinner when in Shaldon. Service is superb, food offering has good choice, well cooked, reasonably priced. Absolutely love stopping for a coffee and cake on the terrace area overlooking the river. Can’t wait to go back,

We were welcomed by the head bar man, what a gentleman & a legend taking the time to talk to us. We had visited Buckfast Abbey & drove through this quaint little village, parked cheaply in the pay & display & popped into this small village pub. Great little traditional pub, pool table on the right hand side, very clean & throughout. Good selection of beer & ales. We sat in their well tendered gardens. Definitely recommend for a stop off.

A lovely much needed addition to this town! Always greeted with a smile and a chat. Friendly place to grab a bite to eat and drink. You never know what is going to be on the menu, always something a little bit different but usually a safe option for others wanting something more usual. However I would say a set menu is something this place could benefit from. Especially being a mum and wanting to take my child somewhere, it’s not always convenient to just see what’s on the board today, as it’s not always child friendly! But other than that it’s a nice little place that I hope sticks around for a while

There should be a government warning about this pub. You should be warned about how lovely it is. So nice to walk into a pub that's still a pub. It's how a pub should be. We went with friends for the first time last week and we will certainly visit again. Great atmosphere with friendly locals, lovely staff and then the food ‼️ OMG this is what pub food should be like. Fresh, cooked on site and a desperate Dan size portion. I could not recommend this pub any more. It's a proper pub with proper grub. Go you will love it.

We used to visit this place a lot under the previous owners as it was a fab place to bring our little one. Sadly we were sorely disappointed on our first trip under new ownership. The back “play” room was cold with no lights or background music and the few toys there were not in a good state at all. When we went to order food they said all they had on was hot drinks and cake. As we’d arrived with a hungry little boy looking for lunch we left without getting anything and, very sadly, had to resort to a local chain rather than supporting a small independent business 😕
