Last minute decision to have lunch, was late as almost 2.30 but still expected quality service and food. Service at till no problem, food was awful though! Soup looked like pond sludge and so bland. No one checked if food ok, and no comment on full bowls when table cleared. Sorry won't be visiting again.

Worst and most disorganised place I have been to.Breakfast and a hot drink seems to be too much for them to cope with.2 kids running front of house, witnessed them using hands instead of using tongs provided for coffee biscuits,my advice stay away. From the amount of people in there they are.

we had friends to stay so we called on whilst out looking around the shops. We ordered various items, which took it appeared a long time to arrive. One of our guest ordered the soup of the day, only for the waitress to return to say the soup was not up to standard so would not be served. Very strange.

Came in today with a group of friends for lunch, sat out in the front part of the cafe. We ordered a medium breakfast and a small breakfast and a few other things, to which we were brought two small breakfasts, which was in time resolved, but the two young ladies which were more than helpful dealt with the situation, a member of higher authority/management did not come to apologise, or resolve the situation and was left up to the very busy girls to sort. I feel that the cafe could be better organised by management, however once we got the correct food we thouroughly enjoyed it and would recommend people to come here but not in busy periods.

This cafe offers a lot and is a brillant place to refresh having explored this exciting town so far. Staff excellent, it is cosy and not like some which are bustling but what you get here is just that little extra attention.Food of the highest standard brought to you with the old fashion service. The cafe is located at the far end of the just past the Clock Tower but before Carpet Right and Austin Furniture store. You will not miss it as outside is the flag of the Royal Engineers and the Union Jack with some tables outside if the weather is playing ball.

This cafe is worth searching out for a reasonably priced breakfast, lunch or snack. It's a hidden away gem. The food is all home cooked which looks and smells lovely. We have been twice and had a very tasty breakfast on the first occasion with ham, egg and chips on the second. A lot of the other customers seemed to be having whatever special was on that day and the plates when they came out looked really good. (It seems pie and mash and roasts are very popular here). On our second we also had a pot of tea and cake. The tea come in a huge pot enough for 5 people and a decent slice of their yummy cake of which there is a wide variety. I cannot recommend highly enough if you are out and about in Newton Abbot town center.

This splendid café can always accommodate, cooks fresh, good quality home cooking to order and is a delight on a Saturday morning. Family run, it is a special little place. My only reason for four rather than five stars is based on the circumstance of the place; tunnelling through a rather cold, dated looking baking supplies shop, in order to finally reach this hidden gem, will undoubtedly put certain people off. This is no issue for me, as it guarantees me getting a table when all the more "obvious" cafes are full to bursting. I thoroughly recommend all the breakfasts and the specials board. If I had to offer any of my amateur advice to the owners, it would be to refurbish the front of the store, have your lovely café in that section, and sell your baking trays out back!

More often than not just for a coffee and to spend a very nice hour chatting and enjoying a lovely coffee and homemade biscuit.I enjoyed them so much that I bought a bag of them to eat on the train going home.We also had a meal 3 times. We went here for lunch. After waiting 30 minutes for food we were told on complaining that they only had a small kitchen. An old lady who appeared to be the owner didn't appear to be a least bit worried and spent her time chatting to regulars. The food when it did arrive was not very good, My wife ordered quiche and chips without the salad. It came on a slate and was very small with only about 15 chips. It was also reheated in a microwave and the pastry was soggy. My brothers wife had pie and chips and complained it was cold. They ran out of liver for my brother's dish and topped it up with bacon and then forgot to give him some peas. If I hadn't paid already by card and had part of the order I would have left.

Every week we participate in some of the treats available at the Mad Hatters. Because we are always pleased with our refreshments we decided to book an afternoon tea party to celebrate my birthday. Four generations came together to sample the marvellous selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes all beautifully presented on traditional cake stands. The display was complemented by pretty bone china cups, saucers and plates. The service was excellent and all guests different needs were attended to. My birthday cake made by Mad Hatters was not only delicious but beautifully crafted with the most delicate floral display.Interestingly last year we had the same meal for my birthday at a nationally known, local 5 star hotel. The meal for 4 there cost more than the meal for 13 at Mad Hatters and the service was very poor. Mad Hatters gave me excellent value for money and I am delighted to say we all had a super time.

What a great tradditional Inn. 800yrs of history and character. Superb location, albeit down a few country lanes. All bedrooms with ensuite. Spacious and comfy. Fully loaded pub with snooker room, and darts room, bar and lounge and quiet reading snug type lounge. Large dinning room with breakfast bar. Large beer garden. Fully operational commercial kitchen. Stock your own bar and music player that feeds music to all areas. We had 20 family members in our group and all enjoyed the facilities. Would recommend to others who want a family holiday. We all did our own sightseeing in the daytime and came home to the pub to eat as a family and enjoy pub type nightime, with games, music, chat and a drink. Awesome!! Lastly, great and friendly host, always on hand if needed, but allowed you to enjoy the facilities. Superb !!

We were welcomed by the head bar man, what a gentleman & a legend taking the time to talk to us. We had visited Buckfast Abbey & drove through this quaint little village, parked cheaply in the pay & display & popped into this small village pub. Great little traditional pub, pool table on the right hand side, very clean & throughout. Good selection of beer & ales. We sat in their well tendered gardens. Definitely recommend for a stop off.

A lovely much needed addition to this town! Always greeted with a smile and a chat. Friendly place to grab a bite to eat and drink. You never know what is going to be on the menu, always something a little bit different but usually a safe option for others wanting something more usual. However I would say a set menu is something this place could benefit from. Especially being a mum and wanting to take my child somewhere, it’s not always convenient to just see what’s on the board today, as it’s not always child friendly! But other than that it’s a nice little place that I hope sticks around for a while

This is a little gem in Teignmouth! Very understated from outside, but once inside the staff are in full customer care mode. We were greeted by friendly bar staff who explained our table wasn’t ready, however we could have a drink at the bar. All good for us as we enjoy a relaxed dining style. No stress. We were shown to our table and the menu explained. We knew it’s was tapas but the waiter explained the rough number of dishes to order as a couple. We ate everything from the standard tapas dish, Patatas Bravas, to a gorgeous Chicken dish with Thyme & Lemon, Chorizo in red wine, Lobster Arancini and Goats Cheese. Every dish was really lovely and felt like a unique experience in the area. We didn’t experience the cocktails, but finished dinner with a liquor coffee. The bill was a pleasant surprise too as we were estimating a lot more! Would recommend and will definitely be returning when back visiting family in Teignmouth later in the year. Thank you all!
