Had a moment and wanted to check this great place was open after some confusing social media reports. It’s still there as good as ever and I was pleased to return after a while of me coming when not open. Same great format and food arrived cooked from scratch. I had the small breakfast but I could not clear it all. Great bacon, proper cafe sausage, tasty hash brown and nice mushrooms. I’d ask for fried bread to be separated next time. More expensive than previous but it’s now off beaten track so I’m happy to support it as a local legend. Well worth a proper breakfast outing!!

Another Devon gem just off the main drag. We have often driven passed and eventually pulled over today. A wonderfully rickety and unpretentious "greasy spoon" popular with local workmen. Great coffee and excellent sandwiches, generously filled in the freshest bread. Nice chat with the guy running this place all on his own. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

The cafe advertises on its website and on noticeboards outside the restaurant that it is open 7am to 2pm, 7 days a week. Wel I went there for breakfast at 09:30 this morning on Weds 3rd August and it was dark, shuttered, locked up and unmanned. Big signs in the carpark with opning times but a big metal bar across the door with a huge padlock. No signs in the window to say 'Sorry closed today' or similar. Just a complete Marie Celeste of a Cafe. Not really the way to treat customers. I went 5 or 6 miles out of my way for breakfast here and the journey was a waste of time. Won't make the same mistake again!

This is a greasy spoon type place and friendly with it (apart from the owner, who's too much of a bread head to have real laughter/fun with). The food is good for this type of establishment but the sausages are of a really cheap variety and spoil a good meal...!!!! Cheers Rich

I have not been here for a few years and so certainly wasn’t disappointed at my spontaneous visit. Sat outside for the first time in glorious sunny weather and had the small breakfast. Been driving past this place for a number of years and for one reason or another not been in. The decor may need some tlc, but the staff and food were both on point. Served quickly and fresh, can't wait to go back and have a full English!! It would also be good to have the farm shop behind, providing some of the produce: eggs, meat etc

we visited for a breakfast , the breakfast was good value for money and tasty with big portions. the only criticism is the green tea is in a cup where the tea is in a big mug apple juice, is poor value for money as it cost £1.70 for a small glass, when they buy a supermarket own brand at about £1 per bottle and they would get about 3 glasses out of it.

Very surprised by the uncleanliness, needs a deep clean from top to bottom. This includes menus, condiment holders, dado rail and the floor. Cutlery was very cheap and you had you search for clean items. Condiments were sparse and scattered. Chefs whites needed a good clean. Quality of food was not great, well over cooked eggs, hard bacon, inedible mushrooms, cheap beans, and tasteless sausage. So glad we only opted for a small breakfast. However the best toast I have ever tasted!!!

I love eating here and as it is not far from where I live it is great to have it close by.Went with my Parents, Older Sister, Niece and Nephew for a 50th Birthday Weekend Breakfast before they left to go home.I had the Big Vegetarian Breakfast there was plenty of it and piping hot as it cooked to order. Love the toast you get with it nice and big just right for a sandwich or on its own.The atmosphere was lovely and the gent that cooked the meals was really friendly and helpful as they always are. There is lots to choose from on the menu so it is good for meat eaters and veggies alike. You can have a small breakfast or if you can manage it a big one keeps you going till lunch that is for sure and a great way to start a long journey on.Always go here when I can either on my own or with the family. I hope they will start their restaurant there soon.

Such a quirky cafe and friendly staff. The full English was great value and huge portions of everything! fried potatoes, tomatoes and beans and black pudding, its not often these days you get 3 pieces of bacon and sausages, and you could tell the bacon and eggs were good quality and cooked freshly. My poached eggs were perfectly cooked which is also a rarity these days and I had 3 eggs without even asking. Served with good quality buttered toast and a mug of hot tea. Sat outside in the sunshine and looked over at the rolling hills and fields. Lovely jubbly.

Found the exterior needing a lick of fresh paint, no Romany would ever allow their caravan lookso run down. The inside was reasonably clezn, although a little tired looking. We were the onlly customers, the young lady greeted us politely, took our order when the Chef, turned around the state of his kitchen wear wasdisgusting. There was more crease on his whites and I use the word metaphorically, than must have been in the FRYER! Having said that the food was cooked correctly and looked okay. I had jacket potato and side salad. The salad was plentiful but ...... the sliced cucumber had black mouldy spots and the iceberg lettuce wasbrown and bruised on the ends where it was not trimmed before cutting again. The cost was very reasonable, and I understand that this is a road side cafe, but please Romany Jones clean up your act, and I mean that literally! O

Went to romany Jones for first cooked breakfast in about 3yrs. Don't know if it's new owners but the tables needed cleaning, the floors needed sweeping and washing and the walls, especially the dado rails needed a deep clean. That's the guest things I noticed before a wonderfully short wait for my food. The food was good but bacon a little dry, don't know if bacon was pre cooked earlier and kept warm. Have been visiting Romany jones for many years and never been disappointed except when I've turned up too late. The staff are friendly and even remember MLW' s unfortunate dairy free diet. We usually get a large breakfast and a bacon butty with black pudding (two slices - other cafes take note, one is not enough), then we Jack Spratt it into two good sized brekkies with yolk forMLW and white and sausages for me, I am after all a growing boy. Two mugs of tea and a view across a valley unspoilt by the new bypass. The cafe also has plans to expand with new premises next door, but regulars will miss the slightly wonky railway carriages lashed together when it happens.

We were welcomed by the head bar man, what a gentleman & a legend taking the time to talk to us. We had visited Buckfast Abbey & drove through this quaint little village, parked cheaply in the pay & display & popped into this small village pub. Great little traditional pub, pool table on the right hand side, very clean & throughout. Good selection of beer & ales. We sat in their well tendered gardens. Definitely recommend for a stop off.

There should be a government warning about this pub. You should be warned about how lovely it is. So nice to walk into a pub that's still a pub. It's how a pub should be. We went with friends for the first time last week and we will certainly visit again. Great atmosphere with friendly locals, lovely staff and then the food ‼️ OMG this is what pub food should be like. Fresh, cooked on site and a desperate Dan size portion. I could not recommend this pub any more. It's a proper pub with proper grub. Go you will love it.

Forest Fungi is a great breakfast / brunch spot. The breakfast menu is served until 2 and offers some unusual and delicious options, mushrooms are front and centre as you would expect. They have also introduced a BBQ menu and offer tea and cake in the afternoon. There is a small farm shop on site and a good range of fresh baked goods. The service is friendly and approachable and prices reasonable. The best thing about Forest Fungi is the food, high quality, fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time. At the weekend it is sensible to book in advance.
