My Two Friends and I, meet regularly for Lunch as Retirees, and we have dined here several times .We booked a table for 3 and when we arrived, the Car Park was Overflowing, and the Bar Area was totally rammed with people, aparently it was a Wake Celebration .We wondered whether it would be easier to go elsewhere, but then we easily found our reserved table ,exactly as required ,in a nice part of the busy restaurant .We were asked if we required drinks by a very attractive young waitress, and in a Very Short While they arrived .We ordered our lunches, I had Pie of the Day, which was Very Tasty and Filling,my friends had Chicken Burgers and Chips .The Food was Excellent, Piping Hot and Plentiful, and arrived in a Short While, in Spite of the Amazing Amount of people at the Wake .It was as Usual a Terrific Lunch in Great Surroundings, Serviced by Very Polite and Attractive Young Waitresses, where No Detail was Missed, in Spite of the Busy Schedule, it was Great Food, and Great Service. Well Done The Compass Inn,and See you Again Very Soon..😀

The place wasn’t as clean as one would hope to find it, and the food on both visits was utterly awful: tasteless, overpriced, very clearly microwaved, haphazard, thoughtless etc etc. A bacon bap or sausage roll from Spar is significantly more tasty, filling and worthwhile.

We always have Supper at this hotel on the Upper Deck when we are staying in St Mawes. Ben and his team are so friendly and very efficient too. Ben is a great Manager with a great sense of humour. He and his team always have time to spend with us and this makes a difference to our time spent in the Restaurant. The food is very good and the presentation too. So pleased the menu will be changed at the end of this week. See you soon. Best wishes Angela and Geoff

We usually love this café but this morning (Sunday August 25) was disappointing. The coffee was very good but we had to wait about half an hour for it was very unsatisfactory especially as the cafe was not particularly busy. Also, while we used the displayed password, the WiFi was not working.

My wife and I have eaten many times in the past here and generally extremely pleased with the quality of the food. However, this evening we were sadly disappointed with the fish and chips; weirdly, the mushy peas were presented on a soup bowl without a serving spoon, the chips were half sized misfits and looked as though they'd been cooked hours previously and the battered fish was riddled with cooking fat, with very little fish and looked awful. This is most likely the last time we'll entertain an evening meal. However, the staff are always friendly so the issue I believe is in the kitchen.

Staff all very friendly but hotel extremely tired and is desperate need of facelift and investment. Lovely location on riverside. Room had comfy bed but paint peeling off walls and dirty doors in bathroom, shower over bath poor, sink shabby. Corridors and reception area also shabby. Sadly breakfast very underwhelming. Horrible soggy mushrooms, rubbery hash browns etc. Coffee tasteless. Not real orange juice. We would not return in the state the hotel is currently in.

Our first visit today was a great success, after travelling down from east Devon and having shopped locally we needed some lunch, we have been to most of the other eateries in the area over the years and wanted to try something new. We were tempted in by the specials board outside and l ordered the Mediterranean lasagne, garlic bread and salad garnish with a side of fries as an extra, my wife had a breakfast and we shared a pot of tea. We were served at the table shortly after we sat down by polite, efficient young staff. The food was well cooked and presented, really tasty just as we had hoped. To our delight when I paid the bill it came to well under £24! Keep up the good work, you will have our custom again when in the area. Regards, Uncle Pudders.
