Good place to start the day - very decent coffee and egg with avocado on toast. Staff friendly and efficient. Open and airy space - in a good way.

We popped in for a family lunch. The kids had a lovely plentiful lunch and really enjoyed it. Sadly ours wasn’t the same. The ploughman’s was tiny. The cheese was barely enough for a sandwich, tiny salad (third of a stick of celery, quarter of an apple, half a tomato) it wasn’t filling in anyway and the size I’d give the kids. The pickles and bread accompaniment were great and not in proportion at all. Sadly we came away hungry and headed elsewhere for extra food.

We visited on Wells Food Festival day and the city was very busy. We only had coffees this time but have had a lunch there previously which was quiche and salad which was lovely. I left my jacket on the back of my chair and only noticed I was without it when I returned home to Bristol. I phoned the restaurant and they confirmed that it had been found and they offered to post it to me as I wasn't local. The jacket arrived safely a few days later. Its a small friendly place with good simple food and wonderful staff.

I chose a beautiful looking homemade quiche. But when it arrived at my table it had been destroyed, re-heated to an appalling state. I eat anything andI just couldn’t eat it. If they had realised they had over re-heated it, why did they still give it to me? AWFUL. And yet, my husband’s Ploughman’s was lovely. Please Kitty’s, if you mess something up, start again. I wouldn’t have minded waiting or having quiche not reheated.

Trying to find somewhere in Wells to get afternoon tea was not easy but when we asked if Kitty Banks could do one as a birthday treat they were nothing but helpful. They prepared a table outdoors with cloth and flowers. When the food arrived it was something to behold. A selection of finger sandwiches (prawn, ham and tomato, cheese and pickle and that English staple of afternoon tea, classic cucumber sandwiches) served on both brown and white bread wire not a crust in sight. The selection of cakes was incredible. A fresh fruit scone with jam and cream along with, Bakewell tart, lemon drizzle, Victoria sandwich and chocolate shortbread. All this was served on a 3 tiered plate in classic afternoon tea style supported by pots of hot tea.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I would highly recommend afternoon tea at here.

Nice location in Market Place with an attractive light lunch menu. We found a nice table outside and ordered a sandwich and ploughman’s (they had run out of quiche). Food was a good sized portion and tasty BUT it took over 30 minutes to arrive….and they didn’t have to cook anything. If I hadn’t paid in advance we may well have gone somewhere else

Kitty banks cafe is a cute little place in Wells. We came here for a small hot drink to warm ourselves up on a cold day. They came to our table very quickly and I ordered a Hot Chocolate, my sister ordered Mocha, and my dad ordered a Coffee. It literally took them about 25 minutes to just make 3 drinks! When we got the drinks (Finally!) the Hot Chocolate was nice I guess but way too sweet and I tried my sisters Mocha and guess what!, it tasted exactly the same as my hot chocolate. I also tried my dads Coffee and it tasted fine but it was a rather disgusting colour which sort of put me off drinking it. The staff were a bit annoying, ignoring us when we asked if our drinks were nearly ready. The waitresses looked a bit to young and unexperienced to be waitresses if you ask me and be could hear lots of clumsiness in the kitchen. Overall I this trip was rather unsuccessful

A nice sunny day and a free table outside prompted a visit for a quick lunch. Unfortunately they took our money then totally forgot to process our order until I chased them, so it turned out not to be a quick lunch after all.Not helped by the fact that when the food eventually came (sandwiches) there wasn’t a lot for your money and my bread was a little stale. Had we not needed to get back to the car park I’d have asked for a replacement. The young waitress was pleasant and friendly but I don’t think experienced enough to handle a problem.A further observation. You go inside to order and pay; then they deliver your order to your table (hopefully). If you pay by card the machine asks if you want to leave a tip. Why would that arise BEFORE you’ve experienced any service or received your food? Seems somewhat presumptuous to me.A shame. A nice little cafe in a great location, but crying out for some better management

Rather than just putting signs out all staff were practising what they preach and saw rigorous cleaning between customer sittings. We had hot tomato soup; sandwiches and a vegetarian sandwich. We all enjoyed the food very much. My sandwich was cheddar with a chutney which I thought was delicious. I ordered a tea with scones but the waitress forgot to bring the scones! I didn't mind because I was too full to eat them and they didn't charge me but it was an oversight on the waitresses' part. Sandwiches over six pounds each, and we thought they’d must be something special at that price. we visited Wells late in the afternoon and stopped here before going to the cathedral. There were signs both inside and out which said jacket potatoes available but when we tried to order there were none. My husband asked if they had wholemeal bread and we were told yes, when the sandwiches arrived it was granary, it may have been wholemeal granary but I was under the impression they were two different things. I asked for the sandwich without butter and it came with a thick layer of butter, to be fair to the staff on duty they rectified it quickly and the sandwich was good, served with a small garnish of salad. I am not sure that if i was in the area i would stop here again. It seems the cafe is also a sales room as the window had items for sale, there was also seating upstairs as when you look in the door there are only 3 tables.

We spoke on the Monday and by Wednesday there was a cheque for the over charged amount. A fantastic example of excellent customer service. We will definitely be eating there again. Well done Julie and her staff. The food was great as well. Teena☀️☀️☀️

If you’re looking for a good pot of tea and at a great price this is the place. Delightful staff and with tables outside overlooking the market square when the weather is fine it’s quintessentially English. Recommended.

Después de la visita de la catedral y del palacio del Obispo entramos aquí a tomar un café y un trozo de pastel. Todo un acierto, estaba buenísimo. Lugar tranquilo, limpio y buen servicio. Precio correcto.

Looked like a lovely cafe. Service was good. I asked if they did any gluten free cake & they offered two choices. Fantastic! However, unfortunately after eating a piece of the lemon drizzle cake, two hours later I found that I had been 'glutened', spending the next few hours being very sick and unwell. I hadn't eaten anything else so it must have been the cake. Please be absolutely certain when you offer food as gluten free that it actually is and is not contaminated with gluten. Being gluten free is not a lifestyle choice. I am a Coeliac.

Came in at lunch time a while back for a smoked salmon cream cheese sandwich. It was expensive (around £7 I think?) and very average - floppy bread that tasted like it came straight from the supermarket and very boring filling and garnishes. Will try again soon but I have had consistently good experiences with the Market Cafe (Crofters) which is right next door.

Stopped off for a cup of tea and coffee, however the cake on offer proved irresistible. Service was good as was the tea, coffee and cake. Good place for a quick afternoon stop when site seeing.

Checked out 3 cafes for a spot of tea and cake but settled on this one. We had delicious cake and lovely service from the lovely Jonathan. Perfect finish to our day.

The location is next to the entrance to the cathedral and Bishops Palace so is very convenient. The restaurant is in amongst the shop which adds some interest. Service was with a smile and was very reasonable. I had a ploughman's using local cheddar cheese. Would strongly recommend

Stopped in for a spot of lunch today and was very pleased with the lunch we had. I had a delicious Pea and Mint soup, my fiancé had pâté. The cafe was very clean & tidy with spotless toilets. Would definitely visit again, and my soup was a proper big bowl not a little thing that wouldn't fill you up! Recommended

This is a lovely warm and welcoming cafe. We have been before with the dogs. I had earl grey tea (not twinnings) with a slice of lemon curd cake which was spot on, very lemony and my wife had coffee with a fruity flapjack which she commented how good and crumbly it was. The loo was spotless, in the wall of a old stone spiral staircase, just like the ones in Malta.

A Tuesday night in January where other pubs in nearby villages are closed it was a joy to find this one open. A great traditional pub with a nice warm fire, friendly welcome, reasonable drinks, what more do you want? Deserves to be supported. Well done!

I was traveling down south through Frome and stopped here a bit late in the evening. I was quiet lost with finding out everything I needed for the next day. I was given plenty of information and help. The owner of this pub is an absolute Gentleman, The pub atmosphere is very friendly concidering its a small area and many lsmaller areas are not favorable to strangers. I'm looking forward to going back again.
