Muffins in Weymouth and Portland

For quick service and lovely food, can certainly say Muffins ticks all those boxes. Food is served hot and at perfect proportions; would happily come again. Enough seating for a family of 1-4 even if you’re just wanting a quick coffee or sandwich. All the staff are lovely and a big thank you to the woman with braces! Was very helpful and kind! 10/10

Happened to spot this whilst on way through the shops. Not a huge menu bought well worth it. Very pleasant staff and lovely meals. Very reasonable price wise too. Averaged about £8 per person including a cold drink

Really good quality, hot and fresh breakfast. You get a lot of food on the full breakfast for £9.95. Excellent value and really good, friendly service. It's a quaint little place and we would thoroughly recommend the breakfast. There seems to be two review sites running for this cafe, so I have left my review on both!

Visited Muffins today for lunch and we both ordered the Full English Breakfast. Very well cooked and bought to the table quickly along with tasty, hot lattes, delicious! Pleasant, clean cafe with friendly staff. Will definitely visit again when we are next in Weymouth

Great location, lovely scone and drinks. Staff friendly, however ran off her feet as only member of staff front of house, so we felt guilty and not relaxed.

My husband and I went to Muffins on Sunday, and what a huge disappointment it was. Plastic tables, plastic table cloths, slow service. We had muffins, which were just ok, nothing special. The toilet is outside in the tiny courtyard, and as the weather was atrocious on Sunday, we had to put our coat on and go outside in the rain to use the facilities. There are many signs around the cafe saying 'Dorset Best Café. This astounds me, goodness knows what the rest are like if this is the best!

The best breakfast I have had in many years. Excellent and welcoming service. The food was all freshly cooked to perfection and outstanding value for money. It's a real cosy place and felt valued. Will definitely be making this a regular eatery.

Coffee was ok but we both had awful, dry, and crumbly scones! Mine was a plain scone but crumbled as soon as it was cut and was really cold probably been in the fridge,the fruit scone was no better. Needless to say won't be returning there...how have they managed to get a best cafe award??

The best ham, eggs and chips I've ever had! Home cooked, tasty, thickly sliced ham. Deep yellow yolks on perfectly fried eggs. Chips how they should be - large, crispy with fluffy middles. Sauces were offered too. Even pot of tea came with extra water so had nearly 3 cups. Service was polite and efficient. Very enjoyable lunch.

What a lovely cafe/ restaurant, run by really friendly and helpful people. I wanted to organise a surprise birthday breakfast for my niece. The plan being I would travel down from London to surprise my niece who was on holiday in Weymouth with her family. I emailed Geoff and Rosie who run Muffins in advance and they could not have been any more helpful in organising everything. On the day itself it was a great pleasure to meet them both and again they couldn’t have done any more for us. Lovely touches included Rosie bringing out a muffin with a candle in so we could sing happy birthday. The breakfasts and the service were both fantastic. The attitude of the staff creates a very friendly atmosphere. I really couldn’t recommend Muffins highly enough. When we visited they had been nominated for multiple awards and I’m not surprised. Thank you to Geoff and Rosie for a very memorable and enjoyable breakfast birthday.

If you are looking for an affordable yet amazing afternoon tea while in Weymouth, this is the place! It is super affordable and you get sandwich, a scone and a muffin as well as a drink. My family and I always end up taking some home as we cannot finish it! 100% recommend

Flags of the world adorn this cafe. Quite a few were not known to me. Food in large breakfast was basic and of good quality, washed down with four cups of tea. After 2.00pm they do a high tea with a selection of delicious looking cakes and large pot of tea. My grannie loved set ups like this. Worth a visit and see how many of the flags you can identity.

Our first full day in Weymouth for almost 6 years and we dived into this empty but pleasantly turned out café. It was fantastic! Comfortable chairs, lovely tea and scones and great friendly service. Good breakfast here. Willing to cook you as much or as little of what you want for breakfast. Sets you up for the day. Do lunch menus as well. Inexpensive. Polite, friendly staff. Be back in when down later in the year.

As we walked through the door we were almost bowled over by an angry looking woman storming out of the door.. no drama, disgruntled customer maybe. We took a seat, and were told they don’t take cash, so the wife went off to the cashpoint. While she was gone, a staff member pushed my daughters buggy, roughly, saying it was in the way. Ok, I’ll move it then, no drama. A few minutes later the wife returns with cash.. and so does the angry stormy woman, with 4 loaves of bread in hand. A few minutes later, angry lady starts taking our order... she gets halfway through then bizarrely walks away and starts taking someone else’s! We left.

Really good breakfast pleasant friendly staff with lots of local information, good for afternoon cake and coffee as well. Can't go to Weymouth without going to the Muffin. Highly recommended.

We stopped in Muffins for a post-shopping tea and coffee. Then we were tempted by the teacake. Good choice. The tea and latte were also perfectly fine - and the prices were extremely reasonable.

We keep coming back, and no wonder, friendly people, great food. For those who dread taking the family to the 'Scottish' restaurant, here is somewhere we look forward to. Walking away feeling full, and with something still in the wallet, makes for a happy meal indeed.

This is a must visit for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. You really must try their Sunday carvery with a choice of pork or beef and all the veg you can eat. All for £7.95 (Oct 2017) and the friendliest staff to boot. Music selection was excellent too. Seek it out in the cool heart of old Weymouth.

We had a Cream tea for two at The Muffin and it was great. The scones were better than we have eaten at National trust restaurants,the jam and cream were delicious,and the tea was nice and strong,just how we like it.

We had the Devonshire Tea but asked for coffee instead of tea (assuming it would be an espresso type coffee). It was served with instant coffee that neither of us could drink and the scones didn't seem very fresh either.

After reading reviews of the best and biggest scones in Weymouth we searched and finally found this place. There was a display in the window of large good looking scones. We sat and ordered scones with clotted cream and jam. We were served very small dry stale crumbly probably days old scones with canned jam and what tasted like super market packaged clotted cream. We have sampled scones all over England and these were the worst. Didn't even finish eating. What a huge disappointment. Don't go here.

Myself and my partner walked past this cafe and decided to go in as it looked cute from the outside. We ordered our food which was very basic. The baguette I ordered wasn't great, and the baguette my partner ordered was very bland, he mentioned the sausages were the type that you get very cheaply and microwave. The waitress was really awkward with us. I'm not sure if she was new or annoyed as it was around 3pm on a Sunday. Overall, it looked lovely from the outside but we wouldn't return.

Muffins is run by two pretty young ladies. My lady had a sandwich wich came on fresh bread with generous filling and a sizable side salad. I had a warm cream tea. Very nice.

We recently stayed at the Bay view hotel who recommended this cafe, we only managed to have breakfast here on three mornings but each time it did not disappoint the ingredients were fresh and cooked to order. The cafe is lovely and clean with a nice atmosphere. If the cafe is busy as you can appreciate there is a little wait but i would rather wait a couple of minutes extra for a freshly made breakfast, would recommend the Full English, the in-laws enjoyed the poached eggs on toast with mushrooms.

From the nice signs outside we thought this looked like a charming little cafe but once sat down inside we found the owner quite miserable and no little happy chit chat you'd expect in a cafe. The scones were a bit dry but the tea was good. At only £2 for acrwam tea as they are in competition with a few cafes nearby you cannot complain I guess... or can you?

We popped into Muffins for lunch yesterday. This was our first visit as we are not from Weymouth. There's some impressive photo's on the wall of Weymouth, that was our first impression. The Cafe itself is quite compact and has a small courtyard out the back where the toilet is located. The Kitchen is not to far from here.

We were 3 adults and a 3 year old. The adults all had Ham egg and chips which was delicious, with loads of ham. The 3 year old had a kids meal of very good quality chicken nuggets and it was enormous. Coffee was excellent too. £27 all in. Great.

One of the worst lunches in Weymouth.

Recently eat at Muffins, jacket potatoe, it was just that...a potato on the plate no side garish, it was very dry! The toilet were gross and really let the coffee shop down, bare court garden, that lacks Imagination!! Could be a real great coffee shop.

We thought we,d try here as we were looking for somewhere to eat that served fresh vegetables and potatoes and NOT chips with everything. We weren't disappointed . Lovely slice of home made pie, i had chicken and veg. and other half had steak and kidney , which was as good ( he said) as my mothers. cabbage , carrots, mashed swede and roast potatoes. And more gravy if you wanted . We were pleasantly stuffed.

Popped in here for a cream tea. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food good. Even suggested that we sit at the back as we had the dog and there would be more room there. Try it!

We went for breakfast twice in this café. The first time the bacon was not fried nicely. It was not undercooked, but it seemed like it needed to fry a bit longer. The second time I asked for them to fry the bacon longer and it was a bit better, yet still not great. The rest of the breakfast was allright. Service lady was not very kind though, the woman did not speak two words to us, and only nodded. No hello or goodbye.
