Had a bit of a shocker half way through our Sunday lunch, which was OK in fairness, when literally gallons of water flooded all over our table from a leak above the ceiling. All the landlord did was to aggressively tell my partner to take her plate off the table, as she was desperately trying to get her personal belongings away from the flood of water. He then professed that "this happens all the time"! It turned out a washing machine had flooded upstairs, the water went all over us, our belongings and our food. Although one of the waiting staff apologised later, we were not shown to a new table and just left to sort our selves out. We were not offered a replacement and no concession was offered. I would advise looking at the ceiling above where you are sitting for water damage as apparently "it happens all the time". In retrospect it had some Fawltey towers hilarity for which I awarded a second star but not a great culinary experience at the time.

Father's Day treat from my number 1 son. Pre-ordered meal, were seated and as I put my hands on the table they stuck to it. I mentioned this to staff and they promptly came out with cloth. Unfortunately the cloth was not just filthy, but it smelled so bad like it has been used to clear a mess up then left to stagnate in a bucket, we left after I had pointed this out to the landlord and took him to the area to "sample" the aroma. The stench permeated the whole room was nauseating for all of us. Kids included.

Disappointment... The food was dried out probably from being placed under a heat light for a considerable amount of time... The dish had flavour, unfortunately it fell short of expectations... The delay between our starts and mains was long, far too long... It allowed another table who ordered when we were on our starters and to receive their (main) meal... Clear their plates and were leaving as we discovered how dry our meal was... The Staff were Friendly enough... However the table service, we found was as slow as a Glacier... A reasonable selection of Real Ales... Err...Karaoke as well... Participants: one It wasn't us!

Lovely old pub with plenty of seating to eat. Nooks and crannies for just sitting to soak up the atmosphere. There's even a book room where you can read and have a drink, very unusual in these days. We had a lunch and though there was limited menu, what was available was tasty and filling. I did get told that it has been taken over recently, so they are trailing a few things to see what people like. Very dog friendly and several people came in with their dogs to have a meal. Has a very friendly relaxed atmosphere, well worth a visit.

Came highly recommended but disappointing for me, partly because their normal chef was on holiday so this review not wholly reflective of normal menu. My main gripe was the service I waited an hour for food to arrive with only a "sorry for delay" recieved, no other explanation. Serving "Fillipino food", I ordered spring rolls, which weren't too bad and stir fried chicken noodles, not the best, a plate of various noodles congealed with 3/4 pieces of chicken. The pub itself was otherwise lovely and I would recommend visiting for a beer or two and when the normal chef is back..

We were in Weymouth on holiday! This place looked really fab so we called in to have a bite to eat! We had a few drinks while we looked through the fab looking menu while a lady with short hair collected glasses at our table. She came across as very unfriendly. There was no hello or even a smile from her 😳 The cigarette smoke billowing in from the outside seating area was just choking (should be a non smoking zone with windows being open) To top it off there was a table with a dog! yes, dog 🤢 sitting on a chair while the owner fed it food & along with it’s intermittent barking at other passing dogs put us right off staying there for food. We left feeling very disappointed. Dogs should not be allowed in a food establishment end of!!! 🦠🦠🦠🦠

Sons 18th, his mum booked a table. We went, I paid, I didn't eat as I don't go frozen food. But it was a ok evening. My other son and his family booked a table for 7 of us, father's Day dinner. Seated, they took our orders then I noticed that the serviettes were stuck to the table and the surface was disgusting. Staff were contacted and sent to wipe the area down. After he'd departed the smell of the rancid cloth need used was so overpowering that we got up and left. I spoke to the landlord beforehand and took him to the area and the smell was unmistakable even to him. I'll never go back again. Rank amateurs serving very mediocre food. It needs a full hardcore clean.

Oh god! Think we'll talk about this place for the wrong reasons for a long time. Don't know if it was because we were out of town, there was very confusing situation when two tables sat down together, too complicated to explain in a review, but I was encouraged to be part of another family. Chased landlord for menu and felt like we were actively put off staying. Next table gave up. Were told wait time for food would be 30 mins by the time we went to the bar the wait for over an hour. We decided to just drink and that was equally difficult to the point it was funny. Offered a choice of tonic water, but could see there was only one type. Another guy tried 3 types of lager before one was made available, complicated by the fact the kegs were attrached to the wrong pumps. Go if you want the Basil Fawlty experience, this is your place. We enjoyed looking at the pictures of food on the review. Three star review for the chaotic atmosphere.

Lovely place! Great location! 4 adults and 3 children popped in midmorning for drinks and a snack while waiting for others out on the boat. They didn’t have anything snacky available at that time so we ordered some toast and the staff were so accommodating and brought out some little extras for the kids. Delicious food, lovely drinks! All round great experience!

For quick service and lovely food, can certainly say Muffins ticks all those boxes. Food is served hot and at perfect proportions; would happily come again. Enough seating for a family of 1-4 even if you’re just wanting a quick coffee or sandwich. All the staff are lovely and a big thank you to the woman with braces! Was very helpful and kind! 10/10

Great pub, great atmosphere, good live music and excellent food, all in a historical setting, what more would you want.
