My local pub. Such a great place for the community to converge on since the renovations a good few years back.

Went for my husband's 30th birthday meal with friends which was organised by the amazing Liam he went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, all the staff was great food fantastic and overall everything was perfect thank you to all at the Gregory would highly recommend 😊

One of our favourite places to eat, food and service well worth going out for, we will always recommend, the whole team always seem so happy in their job, pity more places were not like this gem. Dog and Child friendly, the team could not do enough for you.

This is my go to as the service received is exceptional! My friend had made the booking and requested a booth due to one of us having a bad back. On arrival shown to a table by the window even though the booths were empty for the majority of our time there. Rather disappointed but, as always, the service was exceptional and meal delicious.

First visit today to the John Gregory and the food was amazing The staff were excellent The place was clean and tidy

We had a great meal, servbed by great people, and we sat in a lovely part of the pub, as it was early evening it also wasn't too busy. This all made for a great visit.

Me and misses jo went to John Gregory for Sunday lunch as it was our 5 year anniversary together ‘the beef was cooked to perfection and great yorkies and roast potatoes were banging. Jakob was a fantastic host and really great friendly staff will definitely return and recommend this pub for food Mike & jo x

Lovely place to meet with friends and family

Continues to be excellent. Food is a great deal mid-week with an offer of two mains for £20. Beer is kept well too.

This pub has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with professional and enthusiastic service. Food is good and everywhere is clean and well maintained.

Another great lunchtime meal at The John Gregory tried something different today which was the Fish platter so glad I did it was absolutely delicious and the curry sauce was the best I've ever tasted, worth every penny.Rebooked for two weeks time 🙂x

Just come back from lunch here. They had a light lunch special for £7.20, 2 Courses, soup and scampi and chips. Excellent value, food was good and hot, staff very attentive and efficient. Highly recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous little find. Food is amazing, the staff are efficient and very friendly. It's nice and quiet with a free car park nearby. I travelled for 45 minutes to get to this pub as I knew it would be worth it. Thank you for the service everyone. 👍🏻

We hadn't booked a table as it was a spur of the moment decision to try the John Gregory, I recommend booking a table as the place was packed. Our waiter and waitress were lovely. Very polite and friendly. Our order arrived quickly and piping hot. Delicious food. We will be back!!!!

We went here with our sons, daughters in law and grandson, to celebrate my Birthday. Husband booked a table for 8 a few weeks before. We arrived to be told we had cancelled the booking earlier that afternoon. When we said we hadn't, we told several times by a couple of staff but then the one young lady said "get a drink and we will sort you a table". Further discussion went on between staff and what I assume was the manager over whose fault it was and then they finally sorted us a table. From then on, service was good, and the food was all great and reasonably priced. Have booked to return with friends.

Visited The John Gregory on the 16th Feb to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday with the family and as always the service was excellent, the staff went above what was required. We all had different meals that were all hot and out in time, excellent value for money to.Would always recommend this pub,plenty of parking. Arrived to be advised that as my booking was made online it wasn’t received (apparently a scammer got in). Even though they were very busy, we were accommodated in such a friendly welcoming manner. The service is excellent and the food is always presented well. A huge “thank you” to the staff!

We all went for a family roast dinner at the JG yesterday 9/2, We arrived got seated and ordered some drinks. The Sunday roast was spot on I did go for the large option and the food arrived hot and plentiful and the service was great very polite and hard working FOH team. Highly recommend 10/10

Absolutely fantastic place. We hadn't booked but we're accommodated with no fuss..We all had the Roast beef dinner. We had 3 very generous slices of beef, mash,green beans,peas,carrots,Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and 3 delicious roasties. Staff were friendly and courteous will be returning..

The food was really good but the staff were excellent! Nothing was too much trouble. Two gents in particular were checking on us appropriately all the time and were humorous and interacting throughout. No complaints at all.

Excellent in every respect. We revived a very warm welcome . No need for booking today but it was busy.the staff were very informative and enthusiastic. The good came quickly and was excellent. Not an expensive meal but very good quality and well presented. Good selection of alcohol free beverages including Guinness as of today. Well worth a visit.

They have a great menu for those of us with small appetites, at a great price. It was lovely.

We have visited this Pub on numerous occasions. Never booked until this weekend as they are getting very popular. Sunday Roast is very good. Service is good as well. Food arrived promptly and was hot. Extra sauces were brought over quickly. Smaller roast available for children or our elder relatives. Adult roast £13.20.

We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in. An interesting (unusual?) choice of food that works really well. Also dog friendly. We'll be back!

We have been coming for weeks for the Thursday's specials. The food is Delicious, fresh and hot. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommend. On the deal menu I recommend the steak and ale pie, the lasagna option and the burgers. We Have tried other options aswell and can say it's great to have lots to chose from. Great team !

The service was really good and had a great pub atmosphere. I would avoid the fried chicken burger as it didn't taste great and was extremely greasy. I would suggest they do proper fried chicken as opposed to the chicken they currently offer.

Great place just out of town. Free car park and local shops nearby. Booking is recommended on evenings when they push certain foods. Staff are polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Bar area and pub games also on ground floor. Food is good quality. Large groups catered for.

Absolutely brilliant family meal celebrating two grandsons' birthdays. There were 15 of us, and the food and service were faultless. Would highly recommend to anyone 👌it goes without saying that they are obviously child friendly.

This was our first time, and we were introduced by friends. We were very impressed and very happy it was dog friendly a bonus . And the staff were very friendly.

Such an excellent place to eat and socialise,went there for Sunday lunch,but this time had the Steak and Ale short crust pastry pie green beans, peas and asked for roast potatoes instead of mash which is never a problem if you want to change, absolutely delicious.Are waitress on this visit was the lovely Lolo who hasn't been there very long but very attentive smiling and friendly a great addition to the team.Are favourite place to eat. Excellent in all ways possible ! We turned inland from the usual holiday resort restaurants etc to find this local pub in a small suburban shopping area with plenty of free parking on the car park serving it .. Atmosphere was great with local families and friends meeting , despite not booking ( not clear from the web site you could or should ) the friendly staff found us a table . The meal came quicker than any other pub experience and quality and value was just … well… brilliant - two for less than the price of one in the resort I: clearly recommend this pub and its staff most enthusiastically !

I have reveiwed the John Gregory before but I would still love to tell everybody who lives or visits the area to make a bee line for this pub/restuarant, you will definately not be dissapointed. From the minute you walk through the door it is outstanding. The staff are so attentive and polite and have great banter with all. There is a certain young lady (Chloe) who stands out (if any can) from the rest, she is always polite, funny and an absolute credit to the pub/restuarant. The meals (especially the fish & chips) are the best I have had, the service is as quick or slow as you wish and the food is superb, the chef must be paid a fortune, all the meals are served piping hot and the pricesare outstanding. I think Mon-Thurs, two mains are £16.50, what a bargain. I cannot reccomend this place enough, what a jewel in the crown to have in Southill, Weymouth. Please make sure you go, thanks Chloe and all the team, you are great!!!

First time here, and absolutely loved it. Staff couldn't of been more helpful or friendly. Lovely atmosphere, good food, piping hot and tasty, great value too. Very interesting menu, different from other pubs. Lovely relaxed vibes like Harvester used to be. Really enjoyed our visit, and will certainly be back. The lady and the gent who served us were brilliant. Jaffa cake dessert is a must.

Can't complain about the prices, reasonable food at reasonable prices.

Went last week with some friends, have not been to this pub in around 15/17 years and then it was a slight dissapointment. This pub/restuarant has changed drastically and all for the better. We were there for luch and noticed on the menu that Mon/Thurs 2 main meals are £16.50 with a huge choice of meals. They also have a specials board but we had fish & chips which come with Tartare sauce, big bit of fish, lots of chips & Mushy peas or garden peas. Wife had Scapmi & chips which were served with the same. Served by a very preety young lady called Chloe whose personality & demenour is fantastic, nothing was too much for her & she was just great, if only I was (55) years younger LOL I woud have married her. The food does not take overly long to come to your tabele & the greatest thing about it is, it is piping hot & so tasty. Brilliant meal and brilliant service. Went again today with other friends hoping that the service would be as good. It was absolutely fantastic. Four meals (piping hot again) this time, three of us had the fish platter which consited of same size of cod, plus 5/6 Scampi & large fishcake with all the trimmings. Other meal was just Scampi & chips (12 pieces, large). 4 Pints of London Pride, Brandy & coke, lareg white wine spritzer, flat white coffee & agian there she was Chloe, this girl is an asset to that place, she is so bubbly & friendly. Total cost £90.00 All I can say is, if in the area visiting or you live here check out the John Gregory at Southill for a great time. 6 stars out of 5.

This is are second time at this lovely pub. There's not enough spaces for more star ratings as l would have given more.The service from the time you arrive to the time you leave is very accommodating kind and friendly, Saffron was are waitress who looked after us and made sure we had everything.We had three Sunday Roasts and something from the menu which looked so tasty, compliments to the chief.Have rebooked as this is are go to place when visiting my parents.Well done to all the lovely staff in and behind the scenes kind Regards Anita Ricketts 🙂

Go to weymouth on holiday once or twice a year and we go here to eat everytime it's fantastic, wonderful food, staff are fantastic and prices are good too. Table service which is also a bonus.

Today I brought my son along for lunch, who is a very fussy eater and has certain habits with his food. Usually he just orders chips and peas and won't touch anything else, as he won't eat different foods to the norm at home, which is fruit, salad, cheese, eggs and very occasionally bacon. The lady who served us offered bacon, not realising it's the only meat he will eat and also realising he doesn't like things mixed on a plate to put each option in little bowls. Never seen my son so happy. Thank you for making him enjoy a meal out with us and not made to feel he's different. He kept saying about it and wants to come back again. I am really impressed with the young ladies awareness and acceptance of how he is. She is an asset to your team.

Visited to meet friends for Sunday Lunch... Great meal good service and helpful staff. Not the cheapest but the food was very good and all the staff had a smile. Although £172.00 for six initially sounds expensive but that included two rounds of drinks for six people.

The John Gregory was recommended to me this week,as my parents live there we went for father's day roast,and what an absolute delight to finally find somewhere that does a really great carvery, front of house was so welcoming,and are table service Chloe was so lovely to,we met the own that was as son has taken over know, really deserve to do well as they worked really hard to. An enjoyable experience. Good food, great atmosphere. We were there to celebrate one of my grandchildrens 11th birthday, in the dining area. Lovely service. Highly recommend.

We went to the John Gregory last night with friends and we took our Grandson too who is 3 1/2. We all had our meal and then our Grandson had a tantrum as he wanted more pudding and we said no. The manager came straight over and said that the table behind us had complained about the noise. He could clearly see that my husband had taken my Grandson outside to calm him down. I was completely stunned and was made to feel embarrassed rather than congratulated for trying to teach my Grandson boundaries. I then went over to the manager and asked who and why had they complained? He replied that nobody had actually complained and that it was his duty of care to the customers to come over. I then reminded him that it was a family pub and that we were regulars and it had never happened before. I will not be returning.

The food was standard pub grub, nothing wrong with it but not very exciting.

This is a great venue in the summer. The seating area is great, and the tapas style food is lovely!

I’m not in the habit of writing bad, moaning reviews so I’ll try and be constructive. The JG is our local pub where we’ve visited and eaten many times. I arrived this lunchtime with my 93-year old mum who needs a rollator to walk. We stood as instructed in order to be seated. However the staff I could see paid absolutely no attention to us. Not even a hello and welcome. Eventually one team member did come up and asked if we’d booked (we hadn’t, but had never had to). When we said no, she walked off again leaving my mum to struggle. I accept that they were busy, but you cannot simply leave an elderly person standing like that. When I tried to point this out when we finally did sit (out of necessity rather than being shown the table), she started arguing with me. When I pressed my point, her supervisor waded in and without trying to find out what the issue was, started defending the girl. (It wasn’t about her in the first place, but about my mum being left to stand too long). Supervisor suggested if we weren’t happy we could always choose to leave. Learning points: welcome your customers with a smile, provide training in dealing with the elderly, learn how to deal with de-escalate a situation rather than the opposite, listen to the customer - they’re not always right, but they may have a point. The food and value was as ever good.

Nice place to eat. On the cheaper side of pub grub, but the quality doesn't suffer. I would recommend booking in advance.
