Visited for Kiefer Sutherland gig. Place was boiling hot on a not particularly hot summer's day. Little to no ventilation and no A/C. The side doors all around the audience were left closed. This seemed ridiculous given the temperature. Security staff were handing out free water to the audience when all they needed to do was open the side doors. Even Kiefer reminded the audience to drink water as a few of the audience had fainted! Luckily I had a portable fan so I was ok,but many weren't.

Visiting the Cheese and Grain for morning tea and coffee, I was pleased to find the antiques fair in the main hall. After ordering from the counter, I left my husband sitting outside to wait for them whilst I went for a quick look around. When the drinks were delivered, he asked politely for some sugar, to be told by the unsmiling waitress it was on the tables inside, and she promptly walked away. My husband has mobility issues, well at 76, who doesn’t? I see several of the reviews post negative accounts of the staff and their attitude. You can add mine to them.

We popped in here at lunchtime for a quick drink as most other places were packed with people eating. There were about a dozen other people in .We ordered 3 hot drinks.Took ages to come even though they weren't busy. The assistant brought the drinks over We said which was which, she put them down and said we could sort them ourselves.Nice.We stayed drinking and a lady came in with her lovely dog.The dog was salivating at counter as she ordered , next thing it jumped up twice at the counter with paws fully on and drowling .All where food is handed over.I am a dog lover but thought this was very poor hygiene.Thought the staff were very unprofessional and all too laid back.We won't be returning

A romantic evening was booked for a weekend after Valentine’s Day to celebrate being together 10 years. We paid upfront and had to cancel due to emergency cancer treatment, the venue despite being sent photographic proof of the treatment as asked has since blanked emails and refused to speak on the phone any further. We didn’t want our money back but simply wanted to transfer the booking to a different date. Disgusting behaviour from a supposedly ethic based venue.

The location, parking, furniture and decor are absolutely fine. The food and drink is good as are the prices. However, I tried to use it with friends on three different occassions and like others in the last year, I found the staff indifferent, to busy on mobile phones, oblivious to people waiting and tables are routinely left uncleared. There is no evidence of supervision so the staff seem incapable of working as a team. Result: 3 visits, one service obtained and 2 walkouts.

Have enjoyed music evenings at this nice little venue with good facilities, but it’s about time they invested some dosh to improve the sound quality. It’s just not good enough !! Went to a most energetic Blues Brothers tribute evening last night with the 13 piece ‘Blues Others’ band. I couldn’t even recognise some songs … now that’s not acceptable for the band or the audience. I know the venue has a ‘not- for-profit’ charity status but it must improve the infrastructure to give better value for its customers.

My friends and I went to see the Hang Massive last night and it was superb! The acoustics were sound (pardon the pun); the lighting was in harmony with the music. The service and smiles from the Bar people were a warm welcome during the gig, especially as they had probably been on their feet all day. I welcomed the choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available. I felt comforted to see the security team overseeing everything and on hand should they need to be. Thank you, Cheese and Grain, what a lovely bunch of people you are. I look forward to more wonderful nights out here. With love, xx

A very nice theatre which was full to see my all time favourite theatre production by The Animal Guyz. A brilliant production of animals and dinosaurs. All the team are very passionate about Animals some of which will become extinct if us humans don't act now. I score this production 10 out of 10. Food from the nearby cafe is fantastic. A very quaint place to visit.

Big sign outside that says “PIZZA” with an arrow pointing inside. Went in excitedly for pizza only to be told “we only do pizza on Wednesday and Friday” …… Hmmm well how about PUT THAT ON THE SIGN!! We weren’t the only ones going in there expecting pizza. My children were disappointed at the lack of pizza. It is totally unclear what there is to actually order. Are there menus? Is there a price list anywhere for the food?? Basic packets of sandwiches literally in plastic packaging (why?!?!) and random salads and some dry pieces of cake. Some old dry jacket potato in a strange looking oven behind the staff who seem as confused as the customers!! Used to be able to at least get ice cream ! But looks like the ice cream wagon is no longer in use ?? My mum’s drink was just left on the bar - she had to ask if it was for her. They didn’t bring it to the table even though they said they would. I didn’t bother ordering a drink as I knew it would just add to the disastrous overall experience. And was unwilling to spend any more time or money in there. This place needs - Staff who know what’s going on! Signage outside that makes sense and is accurate - it’s currently false advertising! Signage inside which clearly details what food is on offer and the price! Tables that have been cleaned! I’ve cream wagon in working order!

Brusque service. No polite, what I can get you. Just, that one’s sold. Tables not cleared - even on a mid week visit. Tea in paper cups as they’ve not managed to clear and clean the crockery. Filthy tables, not wiped. No clear priced menu. ‘Gourmet’’ sausage rolls , hot outside, cold in the middle. It’s like what you imagine eating in a third world country would be like. Welcome to Somerset’s premier concert venue!

We popped in the Cheese and Grain Cafe. It was a quick visit whilst waiting to be picked up. The girl behind the counter was rather short with me, no smile. I ordered a Strawberry Milk shake, they looked good on the advertising banner. We waited a good 10mins. When it finally came. It was half a pint of milk with a little bit of ice cream mixed in. Nothing like the one one the banner/board. I did complain but the kiddy who brought it out to us, had nothing to say. His very own words. It cost me £4. I’ve been robbed in broad daylight.

We were due to go to the Banco De Gaia/Eat Static gig in the venue on Friday evening. Arrived early for lunch and to spend the day in town. Many venues charge extortionate rates for even a snack but not this one (in spite of Frome becoming increasingly gentrified). Small menu but well prepared with veggie alternatives. Possible cost around £35 for 2 and this included lunch, cake for dessert plus 2 coffees. Food was freshly cooked/prepared with some local ingredients and we were full for the rest of the day. We've been here for gigs twice now and, whilst I think it's great for a small rural town like Frome to have a significant facility like this, I feel that the building doesn't really lend itself all that well to concerts. For a "small" venue it's quite a large, impersonal space and both times we were there it was only about half full (apparently the capacity is 850 which is a lot of people to support acts that aren't real headliners), leaving a bit of an atmosphere problem - not like being in a packed out 200-300 capacity space. There is a bar at the back of the hall as well as in the main bar/cafe area and staff were really friendly and pretty quick at serving. Free parking in the attached council car park after 6:00pm.

I used to visit Frome as a teenager fifty years ago and it was original and quirky even back then. Now it’s becoming yet another great Somerset town colonised by urban trendies. But the cafe was equally patronised by ordinary country people enjoying a fag in the autumn sunshine on the terrace and the ambience was good. I have to say though, that the Avocado and Courgette cake my partner tried was the most disgusting thing I’ve tasted in a long while. Good coffee, slow service.

Concert and venue review. Great little venue and intimate venue. Prices aren’t too bad for the concert. Great line up not just because of Martin Kemp but the other acts booked too. It’s was busy, fully sold out. But we got to near the front and still had room to dance. The problem - and not necessarily a venue fault was the heat. It was unbearable. Sweating in areas I’m not sure you should sweat from. But the security were brilliant at ensuring everyone had water available - they did the best they could. Heat wave + Martin Kemp + wanting to dance all night - it was HOT!!! Disappointing the meet and greet was moved from the beginning of the concert to the end. Visited recently during a cold spell in the weather. The venue has a very high ceiling and is actually more like a cow shed than a venue. Security staff refused to put on heating as they said "it took too long to heat up". As we actually had to sit for 45mins before the concert started, I felt this was an invalid excuse, especially as the heating could have been put on prior to allowing the punters in. Furthermore, the venue staff opened a side door in the interval which made it even colder for punters but easier for staff to nip out for a quick fag!! As we couldn't dance, (seated concert), we couldn't even move to warm up and I had to borrow my partners heavy woolen jacket to stay warm as he had luckily got a warm jumper on too. Lots of folks around us were also clearly suffering from the cold too. It made the whole concert far less enjoyable although the act, Kate Rusby et al, were brilliant! Have been before to unseated gigs and been able to enjoy it far more. need to look at the heating issues for seated concerts with some regard for the poor punters.

I didn't know the cafe bar existed until today when I stumbled upon it with my Mum. We both had hot drinks and a tea cake and scone both the drinks and food were nice. There cakes behind the counter looked very tasty and the menu was simple but good enough if you want a light lunch. The staff were welcoming and polite. It was clean and as well as indoor seating they had some tables outside so you had a choice where to sit. Dogs are welcome inside which is lovely to see as most places don't allow dogs in. The only criticism I have is the music they were playing...it was so loud you felt you had to really talk over it and it was very depressing songs which did nothing to create a relaxing atmosphere. All in all a good visit but please turn the music off!

Came here for the UFO gig on 29-Jul-2017. Easy to find using SatNav and large car park (free after 6pm). Within easy walking distance of a range of pubs and restaurants. Sound production quality was excellent - filled the venue without being overpowering and was nice and clear. Small stage, but good sightlines even though this was an all-standing event. Good crowd atmosphere, no idiots. It was getting a bit too hot inside during the support act, but this seemed to improve later (not sure if they have aircon, but one off the security guys opened the fire exit for a while). Several long bars in the foyer and inside the hall - has what we wanted and no too expensive for a music venue.

Visited the Cheese and Grain for many years and it just continues to improve.. a wide array of products not on offer including iced frappe and milkshakes, with an increased food offering.. the bar is also open all day which is ideal for these summer days. A great stop for anyone visiting Frome

We stopped here for a rest on our wander round Frome on a hot Saturday afternoon. We had a pint of cider each and some cake which was delicious, I think it was homemade. There were kids happily playing around as there were some indoor toys such as a playhouse etc and a nice mix of people enjoying the sunny afternoon. A perfect place to go for a pit stop, I would like to go back and try the menu.

We parked the car and caught sight of this place in the corner. The service was a bit on the slow side but the hot latte and tea as well as the happy chatty waitress made up for it. The meal was well presented and fresh, I had the crab cakes and my partner had the steak pie, as well as a side order of chips which was absolutely enormous. My partner didn't enjoy the pork pie type pastry but the filling was lovely. The crab cakes and dip were excellent!

Had the farmers breakfast which cost £7.50 or so which I found a bit expensive. Quality of the food was poor I thought. Then, when the plate arrived I discovered I had to pay extra for a coffee AND pay again when I went for a second cup. When I asked for relish I got salad cream! I don't think the staff know much about food. Not good ...

We enjoy both the original artists and the tribute bands who play here. There's an eclectic mix of folk, rock, reggae and general nostalgia. Seating arrangements vary so sometimes rows of seats and sometimes a mix of table seating and standing room. Good bar, sometimes rather understaffed. Food options very unpredictable at concerts, varying from only crisps to baguettes, sandwiches and cakes. Nice atmosphere, plenty of parking, good loos. The artists usually mix with the crowd at interval and after the show.

Visited here when there was a market in the car park and a flea market in the centre. Both were well attended. Grabbed a drink and a snack in the Cheese and grain. Decent bar but snacks could be better.

Enjoyed a great night here at the Reggae weekend. I was on the guest list, but the reception staff were very rude & would not allow me into the main hall until they spoke to someone, was kept waiting for over 40 minutes, until I rang someone from the band myself to sort it out. This place is a great venue for seeing a live band, bar prices reasonable & plenty of toilet facilities

Lovely venue for seeing live music. Plenty of Bars & friendly staff. There was air conditioning, which with 500 people, was very much needed. My only bug-bear, would be that they crammed in too many people in the the space, we were sat shoulder to shoulder. I think 100 people less, would have been a better experience for everyone. But the venue itself is very good.

Here for the Vintage Fair where I had a stall which meant I was busy and had only a little time to pop to the cafe for a coffee or sandwich. I ordered a coffee, used the ladies and returned for my coffee which wasn't ready and I had to wait nearly 10 minutes. I realise this isn't such a long time but awkward when customers are waiting at your stall. Young man who took the order was very pleasant but the lady making the drinks looked rather bored and wasn't very communicative. Could have done with more Saturday staff to be helping out, even maybe to deliver to stall holders in the main room. Had an egg mayo sandwich for lunch which again took a while and was so overfilled I ended up wearing some of it, not happy..!! So many cafes do this next time I'll buy a pre-packed one somewhere. Coffee very average, not particularly hot but the young man was quite happy to give me a glass of tap water for free.

A Tuesday night in January where other pubs in nearby villages are closed it was a joy to find this one open. A great traditional pub with a nice warm fire, friendly welcome, reasonable drinks, what more do you want? Deserves to be supported. Well done!

We expected so much more from the Well Inn, but were very disappointed. A very basic hotel, breakfast was tea and toast, the bar is newly refurbished but the tv didn’t work. Our room was very small, bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. No food on a Sunday and the bar was closed at 4.

John was the only delight today of thus shameful lunch. The meal was terrible. Dusted calamari was heavily breadcrumbed instead. My Aubergine.. It was served lukewarm so I had to send back to the kitchen. Plus, I could have done the meal myself although I would not!. A huge aubergine, cut in half and dusted with spiced herbs! Really? Stacked against a small plate of couscous and a tiny container of rhita!!! The Fountain.. you should be ashamed!
