Having ate here before and had a good time I thought it would be good for a birthday meal for 4 on a Monday lunch time how disappointing it was. 2 Steak & Stiton pies ordered although very tasty lacked Stiton and was meant to be served with veg we had to ask for the veg which when it arrived after several minutes the excuse was we only have 2 microwaves not the excuse I wanted, the other 2 meals were fine, unfortunately we will not go back.

We had a wonderful 1-night stay at the Bolingbroke Arms in September on our way to Cornwall. The family room was spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was amazing (especially the full English!) All of the staff we encountered were polite, attentive, friendly and helpful. A real gem of a place that we certainly wouldn’t hesitate in recommending and will definitely come and stay again. Thank you so much.

I’m so disappointed! Years ago the Bolingbroke food was amazing. Last September, 4 of us booked Sunday lunch for 2:30, when we arrived to order they had run out of everything! Had the most awful Sunday lunch for an extortionate price ! Tonight we thought we’d give it another chance, our first choice they didn’t have, this was not deleted from menu, so had to quickly order something else. The steak we ordered was way over done, the plate was half full of salad ? Sauces were awful ! And someone emptied a salt cellar in the mashed potato. We were asked if the meal was ok by a manager (maybe) while a waitress was talking to us, so couldn’t answer. Very disappointed, we can’t afford these prices very often, a completely ruined birthday dinner. Still trying to get rid of the salt taste from my mouth. Gave the Bolingbroke another chance, wish I hadn’t !!

A very disappointing first and last visit for Sunday lunch. We were greeted, shown to a table and brought drinks and from there it all went downhill. Ignored for 25 minutes, order taken finally, food came. Completely black yorkshire pudding which should never have made it on to the plate. The rest of the veg were nice aside from obviously frozen roast potatoes. Meat ok. Completely ignored by staff again as they rearranged tables. Not asked if our meal was OK, not asked if we wanted more drinks, plates not cleared, not asked if we wanted a dessert. We gave up waiting and got up to leave and a young male waiter came over and asked if we'd finished? I complained about the inedible, burnt Yorkshire pudding, to which he shrugged and replied that it was "out of my hands". I suggested he could relay the information to the kitchen. At the bar, we complained about the awful service and burnt yorkshire pudding when we went to pay. They apologised but made no effort to rectify our disappointment. Staff clearly need some hospitality training.

Nothing was too much trouble, the food was very good and so much of it. My husband and I stayed the night in a very clean and modern room, comfortable bed and pillows with crisp white towels. The lady that served us breakfast was also excellent and very friendly. Breakfast was excellent too, lovely produce and very tasty. Overall it was perfect, will definitely return. On arrival we were horrified to find that the pub had no record of our telephone reservation, however they managed to accommodate us and we enjoyed a brilliant family Sunday Roast Dinner here. There was a good choice of roast meats, or alternatively other mains. The portion sizes were excellent with generous dishes of 5 different vegetables. Everything our group had was delicious and all our plates were cleared!! Desserts were also wonderful, again a good range of hot puddings and cold desserts. The service was prompt and efficient. For future visits it would be nice to be reassured that the booking was recorded in the table reservation system!! It was only this aspect of our experience that detracted from a 5 star review

This venue hosted both a pre funeral family meal and wake for 30. The facilities, food and staff were excellent. Lunch was fresh - poached salmon, meat and cheese platter etc. The reasonably priced wake had a selection of tasty sandwiches, homemade sausage roll (a particular favourite), scones and cake (lemon drizzle and carrot cake) with tea and coffee. Well placed just 3 miles from N Wilts crematorium.

I don’t often do reviews but felt overwhelmed with frustration and anger at the manager of the Bolingbroke pub. we had arranged a wedding for the venue explaining in detail our requirements. We had around 40 guests for the day, rising to 85 in the evening which for a large venue should have been an easy event to organize. Communication with the manager was ok prior to the wedding however on our day the manager was unprofessional, arrogant, and rude. Right from the offset Rob was asking abrupt question to our guests when they were setting out the room for the wedding and then continued to be grumpy and stressed throughout the day and evening with the guests and us. The food was lovely however questions regarding portion sizes were not answered prior to the event and thus we paid for more food than necessary. We questioned staff members about Rob being rude and they made it was quite clear that this was Rob’s normal behaviour. Personally, I feel if his attitude to paying guest and visitors to his pub is being rude and arrogant then I would hate to know how he treats his staff members. The final let down was when he decided to disclose to my wife after myself and other guests paid over £3000 for the final payments of the wedding event that our wedding was not a success and he is too old to put up with people, and then said in a grumpy tone “Oh by the way congratulations on your marriage. Horrible person.

This restaurant and venue is not as good as used to be. The menu barely changes and is very stodgy and wintery. The veg is over seasoned with a huge amount of pepper. The chicken is always overcooked so a bit chewy. It used to be the place to go, but with newer places opening it needs to move with the times and improve menu choice for food and wine as it quite basic now. The location is lovely but please make drop in drinks and nibbles and snacks a thing to work on as you would be a place to visit far more frequently. Time to move forwards Bolingbroke Arms, keep the charm but with far improved quality.

I went for lunch here on a Friday afternoon with a friend and our two daughters (aged 7 months and 14 months). We were kindly offered a table straight away even though we hadn't booked. The food was absolutely delicious. However, a single member of staff made us feel very uncomfortable about having young children there with us. She made it clear the highchairs and single pram were in the way, despite us making sure all other people could get to their table next to us (and another waiter telling us it was fine). We were there for an hour and a half and were waiting for the bill for the last 15 minutes. During this time, my 14 month old was pottering around the pub with me supervising behind her at all times. She was quiet, didn't bother any other customers (unless they started chatting to her) and I kept checking to keep out of the way of staff delivering food. We saw the same member of staff roll her eyes and tut at me, and again, just made us feel very unwelcome and in the way. Neither of our daughters cried, they both sat quietly during the meal and I don't feel were disruptive to other customers. The other members of staff were very pleasant. It states clearly on the website that they 'welcome children' but this is not at all how we felt and will not be returning, despite the lovely food. I'm sure it would be a lovely place to eat if you did not have young children but we were very disappointed.

Starters of garlic mushrooms, red pepper soup and scallops went down well. Mains of Bolingbroke burger, sirloin steak and pork medallions received mixed reviews. Burger nice but slightly dry so make sure you order something to compensate. Sirloin was asked to be well done but I would say it was well well done. It was very full, which is a good sign, but it was too full and uncomfortably hot. There were 11 in our party. After arrival no waiting staff came near our table for an hour. We had to get our own drinks from the bar. Our starters arrived an hour and a half after we sat down. Our mains an hour after that, and then one order was wrong. After any course, the tables were not cleared for a good half hour or longer. We had to ask for a desert menu because the staff thought that clearing an empty table was more important that serving paying customers. We would not recommend it nor would we return.

We were in the dining room and we were greeted by a screaming very young child on the opposite table.....not great! We looked at the menus then ordered our mains we skipped starters as we were told the deserts were great so we were all going to have one of them instead. We ordered 2 lamb fillets a lamb shank and a steak and stilton pie like other reviews it seemed to take an age to arrive we timed it to nearly an hour. In fairness it was lovely when it eventually arrived but for the price not very large fillets or shank. The lamb came with mash potato and a selection of veg which was nice.We then ordered our desserts two cheesecakes a crumble and cheese board. The cheesecake was Baileys and honeycomb both of us could not find any honeycomb in ours at all and told the waitress. The crumble was according to the menu served warm but it was stone cold again we told the waitress who took it away and warmed it up. The cheese board was good as you had 3 choices of cheese and a selection of crackers and chutney. So for £115 for 4 people it was not as good as it should be and to be honest we were all a bit disappointed.

I used to frequent this restaurant regularly many years ago , and decided the re-return this week hoping for another pleasant experience. If you are into your wines and like to read the description - types of fruit in the wine before you choose , then please double check what you are ordering is exactly what you receive. The wine we chose was meant to have Blueberries , Raspberries (If I remember rightly) and chocolate , however when it arrived and we tried a few mouthfuls and then read the description on the bottle it actually stated it contained Cranberries , and perhaps one fruit from the description on the menu. We do not like Cranberries in wine and if we would of known this we would of chosen a different wine from the menu. My partner mentioned this to one member of staff who just said "Thanks for letting us know" no mention of a reduced price , or please choose another bottle , many apologies. We continued to drink the bottle (although not very enjoyable) since we were having to pay for it. We then both ordered the Pork Tenderloins with Cheesy Dumplings and Vegetables. They were able to provide this Gluten Free for my partner , although he had to skip the Dumplings and they gave him Mash instead of the Chips like myself (which were not GF) This was all fine , although for my partner his meal was a lot smaller due to the Dumpling loss - because of this you would of thought they would of perhaps given him some additional Pork to the meal? I myself could not fault the Chips , Dumplings or Pork , although we both agreed the Veg was very over cooked! At no point did any staff member come and ask if our meal was ok.We decided not to give a tip at the end (mainly due to the wine issue) although another staff member - pleasant waitress re apologised to us when we paid our bill regarding the wine. She explained that since we mentioned the typo's on the wine menu they had actually spotted several, and they had only recently been printed, so they would be discussing this with the supplier.Unfortunately I don't think we will go back after this is , although it is a lovely pub and we did enjoy parts of the meal, at no point were we offered a reduction of the bill, or for us to choose another bottle of wine from the menu to compensate the mistake.

Returning customer, I know this to be a banker rather than a 'wow' and so it proved.Menu decent, rustic interior and plenty of outdoor area. Service a bit laboured but that is down to individuals rather than all.Its decent place for lunch and you can be in and out in a reasonable time span, I'd recommend and revisit.

We were looking for somewhere different to go for dinner and decided to try the Bolingbrook. Arrival was pleasant and greeted nicely. Bar team very friendly and offered to start tab. Dinner was excellent, lamb shank and beef and Stilton pie. Food was served very quickly and was piping hot, very rare these days. Great experience and will return.

We lunched here with friends who had been here a number of times before and who had spoken highly of the food. Others had also said similar. We only had mains and desserts. The braised steak was swamped in nothing other than a gelatinous goo which was unattractive and not very tasty. The red cabbage looked dry and unattractively "dusty and discoloured" although this turned out to be ground nutmeg. Weird. The pavlova was adorned with rather bitter forest fruits of the frozen variety rather than fresh and sweeter fruits and the strawberry coulis did little to help sweeten this 8 quid dessert. On the whole a little pricey for some dissappointing dishes. For 2 course lunch, at nearly £25 a head excl. drinks, we would expect better than this.

Saturday evening visit for 4 of us. Drinks first then the first signal of delay was ignored it was sometime before we received menu and for order to be taken. It was busy with almost all tables occupied. Perhaps we should have ordered starters as our mains took about 45 mins after order. Each person ordered different mains and sweets. We all agreed the food was well cooked and presentedWould visit again if no excessive delays which we experienced.

A rainy night so we decided to eat out. This is not a rush you in and rush you out pub so we had a relaxed 2 hour meal. The staff were friendly and came to see if we were ok a few times. The meal was piping hot, the vegetables done to perfection, We couldnt fault it and would go again in a flash

Visited recently, the pub wasn't too busy, but lunch took about 45 minutes to appear from ordering. Food was ok, nothing very special, staff were courteous but the pub felt cold and unwelcoming. Ladies toilets need attention, two toilets, one had a seat which was broken, and the other one, the seat was split. Shame because this place could be so good. Would we go again - not sure

Over 60 of us were crammed into the room which was very hot. The waitresses couldnt get between the tables to serve the meals so plates had to be passed down. Vegetables were slow to cone out so food got cold.

Sometimes pub grub can be a real hit or miss. I have not been to this restaurant for many years but on recommendation of my neighbours decided to give it a visit on a last minute lunch out. Nice surprise. We sat in the bar area which can be less noisy as the main restaurant tends to get large groups. The food was fresh and tasted very homemade. It was quite a pleasant surprise and i would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good pub meal.

We took visitors on a Friday eve at 8.30. The waitress came to take our orders very quickly and when we said we needed a few more minutes she said 'You do know the kitchen closes at 9?'. The food was pleasent enough, but the waitresses were clearing away almost as we were chewing our last mouthfuls. We wont be back.

Having been here a few times and always had a great time i had no worries but i was very disappointed , the service was horrendously slow , 20 minutes for our order to be taken , then after another 10 minutes i was told what i ordered was not available ! The starter came and everybody enjoyed it despite the wait . Then we waited and waited and waited for the main course eventually after an HOUR , YES AN HOUR !!!!!!!!!!Had i been here just with my wife i would have walked out long before this but it was a family birthday so i didnt .The food was ok and i didnt hear any serious complaints from our party .We then waited again for about 20-25 for the sweet order to be taken and again we waited for it to arrive , two of them must have been standing in the kitchen for a long time as my ice cream was almost liquid all the way through and a sorbet was the same , these two were not paid for !Nobody said a lot about the service at our table as i think we didnt want to upset my father who was paying and he i thought was annoyed at a family meal being spoiled by all the problems we had .Overall the service was terribly slow and the staff seemed a little clueless and not really sure what order was what !This is a shame as in the past this place has been great , i will now be very reluctant on going back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have visited this pub restaurant for birthdays a few times over the last couple of years. They are especially helpful when it comes to adapting or making a vegan option. As a veggie my partner is a vegan and it's a relief when we can eat with comfort and ease. The staff are excellent and the food is good all round. The only point is that as a group of more than four people they put you in the dining area which lacks atmosphere and is certainly not intimate. However as an overall experience it's a pretty good place. I'd recommend it for a good lunch or dinner

Stopped in for Sunday lunch - the pork was tasty and not at all dry, the accompanying vegeables were plentiful and cooked perfectly. Went back later in the week to see how it faired of an evening as hubby is having to stop there for a few weeks, once again I wasn't disappoined with the food. Liver and bacon was delicious, hubby had pork medallions served with cheese dumplings, they were to die for - again, fab veggies to accompany the mains.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

The location of this establishment is strange because the shop/restaurant sits within what is essentially a business park in the middle of nowhere but it is not hard to find. The setting was ideal for a summer lunch with lots of variously covered areas to shelter from the sun or rain if it happens. Then you realise that all these covered areas are, in fact, the restaurant! I saw no evidence of indoor seating. The main seating area is fundamentally a plastic marquee attached to a shop unit and all the seats are picnic benches. They have an interesting menu, which changes regularly I understand, and it is obvious that this establishment is not trying be a full all ‘singing and dancing’ restaurant and they do make that clear. It uses locally sourced quality produce for Deli style light meals, specifically lunches, and also snacks. The people running it are personable, welcoming and efficient. We found them very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Overall, the food menu is a little overpriced I feel but not excessive. That said, a few dishes do seem “over the top’ for what they are. It is the shop where the prices are eyewatering expensive and I think they have gone too far. I can here them now saying that they are supporting local suppliers and that this comes at a cost but times are hard and I do truly believe they, or their suppliers, need to face reality as the pricing is far too high. We need to support businesses like this but they have to respond too! Did I enjoy my meal? Yes, fantastic, Would I go again? Yes, definitely! Would I encourage you to go? Yes definitely! I just warn you that your visit will be enjoyable but not cheap so be prepared.

Visited Marlborough for the day and popped in for a coffee! We were greeted with quick, friendly service and were excited about the range of pastries we got to choose from! We were very impressed with the cleanliness and style of the cafe and would absolutely love to return here when we’re down again!
