Really good food. Expertly made cocktails. We had the burger, which was excellent. The open fire was perfect warmer before the walk back into town.

I go here regularly. Small friendly little cafe in the village shop. Sometimes buy as popular with hikers and cyclists in the area as well as being used by us locals. Fantastic for a brief cuppa, with excellent barrista coffees and pots of tea with an excellent range of made locally or in house cakes, sausage rolls, pasties etc. Some rather fantastic 'salad' options [coleslaw] made freshly to accompany the above and there's always a good 'soup of the day', again made freshly. Wonderful people watching either indoors or out and really friendly volunteers running this community owned cafe. Highly recommended.

Excellent little cafe with great food and service. Good value for money. Nothing is too much trouble with great choices.

Amazing little cafe! Visited after seeing on social media; gorgeous little set up with lovely welcoming friendly staff. Our food was cooked to perfection and was lovely! Even bought two pies to take away for dinner this evening as they looked too good to leave Definitely will return

We had the most amazing afternoon tea on Friday with freshly made sandwiches and homemade cakes. It was a great venue to celebrate our friends belated birthdays. Tray and her staff are exceptional and so welcoming.

The setting of this pub is really beautiful and my friend and I were really looking forward to eating there. I was surprised at how quiet it was for a Friday evening but thought maybe itâs because itâs January and people donât go out much . The fire had practically gone out and we had to ask the staff if they could get it going again as we were cold sitting at our table . The staff were very helpful and soon managed to start it up again .We decided to choose a few of the starters to share as we both wanted to try out a variety of the dishes from the menu. The menu is based around tapas and I have to say certainly not like any we have tasted before . The bread was over done and dry, The mushrooms were bland and badly presented. The chips were fine but I suppose you canât really get those wrong. We chose some sort of apple pie come tart as a dessert which was inedible as the cloves actually numbed our tongues. After only taking two bites we decided to leave the rest . To be honest the entire meal was shockingly bad . I understand the Royal Oak in Yattingdon is a sister restaurant. As we eat there regularly we both expected the food to be as good and were really looking forward to trying out their tapas menu. Truly the worst meal we have had in years and sadly the setting is not enough to make either of us want to go back there . It might be a good idea for the people running the pub to read the room , if you canât fill your pub on a Friday evening, maybe you need to rethink the menu . My advice would be to enjoy the setting and stick with ordering a bag of crisps that way you wonât be left with a bad taste in your mouth.

I think on the day we went the 4 young members of staff were having a bad day. When we arrived the only table available had dirty cups and plates on it. These remained on our table for our entire visit. Girls kept walking around from behind the counter to slam the front door whilst commenting loudly about having to do it. Chairs were flung and slammed under tables. Despite all this the coffee and cake were delicious.
