The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in West Berkshire South East

Food was good, my plate was stone cold and dirty on the edges. At 2120 we were told to pay as the “tabs” were being closed. This is a Friday evening. We hadn’t had a chance to order pudding and so that didn’t happen. We were asked by the fella clearing the table if we could stack our plates and pass him the empty glasses while he stood still, we laughed at this and imagined a conversation backstage about how we never left a tip. Well, your tip was non-existent, like our pudding! Out of kindness to my boss who arranged the evening, I didn’t say a word to save them from feeling bad about their choice.

Run by fantastic people! Service is great and the atmosphere is even better. A lively and friendly place to be!

We had our grandsons birthday here Its a bit quirky. Food is great, service is great atmosphere was a bit lacking we were in a back room by ourselves but we enjoyed the day. Thank you 7bone.

How can you explain the fact that you started banging on the door of my room so that I would open it, after I opened it you immediately started yelling and accusing me of smoking? .After I came to my colleagues’ room, who were lying quietly resting and not smoking anything, they were also puzzled that you had “bothered” them like that. Then I decided to come down to you to find out in more detail why you were thinking about us, so I invited you into the room to check whether we smoked or not, for some reason you thought that I blamed the other rooms. You say that there was no one but us, but in the morning I saw a man who was leaving the hotel with a suitcase. I advise you next time to calmly find out what’s wrong, and not start with shouting.

I am here now, four staff members, arrived at 5.30 it is now 6.30 two tables have walked out due to lack of service - we ordered three drinks at 5.40 we are still waiting!!! Never again !!

Cozy hotel with spacious and clean rooms. Located right in the center of the village with free parking. Breakfast was also well prepared, even with black pudding.

Lovely country pub. We had Sunday lunch and it was delicious. Can’t recommend enough. Also been to a few quiz nights. What fun !!!! Staff are so friendly.

Sunday lunch. Sadly they’d run out of Pork, one of the trio of meats and the only one that I would have chosen if the others were unavailable. So we had the beef which was lovely. The roasties could have done with another twenty minutes to crisp up a bit but they were lovely and fluffy inside, well cooked. The veg was lovely but oh dear, the gravy had a very sticky consistency and the Yorkshire puddings were almost inedible due to being almost impossible to cut, rubbery is the best I can describe them as. We had a late lunch but still a couple of hours before the end of service so no real excuse for running out of Pork and rubbery Yorkshires. The pub was lovely and clean, including the WCs, the staff were lovely and very helpful. Beer was reasonably priced and well kept, sadly the cost of wine was almost as much for a glass as the cost of dinner. One of the better Sunday lunches in and around Newbury and reasonable value. We will go again and hope that next time it warrants 5 stars!

Lovely location, decent setting but consistently disappointing, sub standard food. Rubbery poorly fried steaks (almost inedible), overcooked breaded chicken…the list goes on. Basic mistakes you wouldn’t make at home. We want to give the place a chance but it’s always the same so won’t be going back.

Miserable staff. One guy had headphones in and was on his phone. He was rude to be honest, he was the one making the coffees this afternoon and everything seemed like a chore. Is he forgetting that he is being paid to be there?
