A lovely and unexpected find down a winding country road in West Berkshire, beautifully located with fine views over bucolic countryside, friendly cows in an adjacent field and very nice, engaged and helpful staff. This is so much more than a pub with rooms, it’s thoughtfully considered, from the stylish decor in the bedrooms, busy restaurant with a view of the chefs bustling away, great outdoor seating areas and a menu focused on North Spanish dishes, small tapas plates and richly sauced meat dishes. We look forward to our next stay.

Lovely independent coffee shop definitely always support out local companies. I find that the other big brands arent as nice and the food especially the cakes are amazing.

This pub is so warm and welcoming. The service is superb - no matter who happens to be behind the bar. The ladies’ loo has fresh flowers, one if those little touches that makes it special. No, there is no food on offer but we know that and still enjoy walking there for a drink and walking home again afterwards. The village is lucky to have this well-run pub.

We had a great experience here with the food and the service was fine too. We joined our friends who live in Newbury, and had recommended it to us. We will be back in December and will come again.

Stopped off on the way back from Marlborough to Upper Bucklebury. Found a spot on the terrace on the lovely back garden. Had a drink and shared a fishfinger sandwich and chips for lunch. Beautifully presented and cooked, chips were to die for. Met the chef Damien and had a chat with him. Will return tk try out their evening menu. Loved how the bar upstairs was decorated.

Excellent cafe with attentive and friendly staff. Good choice of food. My first visit and won't be my last. Highly recommended

As an avid smoker of meat I/we were interested to see what they could come up with. Their smoker is huge. The food we had was just amazing and we had an amazing time. This is one of those places you need to go to and we will keep going to. Fantastic and thanks for giving us a great day.

The staff here are what make this place special and one we return to again and again. There is a very warm and comfortable seating arrangement downstairs. The pepper steak and traditional pasties are delicious and we enjoy their coffee too. Thank you!

Ordered a raspberry mojito but they served a strawberry. Asked them to change to the raspberry but got a really sarcastic and rude response and they didn’t replace my drink. Really poor service again

Lovely old building, very comfy bed. Large room and bathroom with amazing shower. Meals were so good and lots of variety, great location too.
