Thank you so much, Damian, for helping me change my car tire last night. You were truly a lifesaver, and I made it home safely because of you. I know this might not be the most relevant place to post, but I just wanted to let you know how amazing you are and to express my heartfelt thanks.

Great little boozer, fantastic pint, keep the beers very well there. Bar staff are amazing, (ask for Paddy, great eye candy for the ladies). Very friendly locals, and live sports shown.

Great local Pub, the staff are really friendly and welcoming, there is always something going on.. meat raffle last Sunday of every month, live music, BBQ’s.. and the pricing is really fair.

Avoid this pub: sexist comments by bar staff and an unpleasant atmosphere.

Delighted! Pizzas were great, friendly service and the outside space was brilliant for the kids. Happily recommend to anyone needing an easy space for adults and kids to have lunch.

Good food, very cheap and lovely garden

Was practicing some bay parking with my girlfriend in the car park and was planning on going for a walk and returning for a pint and some food when the pub opened. But while we were parking the owner ran outside and effectively shouted at us till we left. Fair enough if he wanted us to park somewhere else before the pub opened, but instead he shouted at us while we parked, let us park and then shouted at us for parking. Definitely felt a bit ageist and who knows what other prejudices he may have had. Was very rude and unnecessary, and really hope he's not like that to other customers.

This place is managed by a couple and well maintained, Pizza here tastes good and typically 1 pizza will be enough for 2 people.

I would leave 5 star for friendly customer service…… but…… I’m reviewing the food in the restaurant and it is way way way below par! We went for Sunday dinner and what a disaster! The menu (of sorts) was written shabbily on paper and lent on the seats as you entered. The menu had about 3 items but I wouldn’t mind if the food offered was of reasonable quality. It was boring and bland. I felt like the owner had asked his mate to nip down and cook for the day. Very disappointing …. we won’t be returning.

Overnight hotel near by on our way to Southampton cruise port. Traffic on the journey had been terrible and we just needed a meal. Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and varied menu with some homemade dishes. Excellent value and good portions. This is a local pub and it's a shame we don't live near by, but will return when we are in the area again.

As basic as it comes but best value food anywhere. Happy staff with massive home cooked portions.

Nicely does it. Simple friendly pub. If you want to be part of the community in Hermitage there are 2 pubs. Many are dismissive of the White Horse, but its a friendly pub, albeit more suited to sports fans. And now has food 3 days a week and takeaways on other days. Gets my thumbs up...

What can I say. This pub restraunt in Thatcham was a stop over on the way to holiday with my three grandchildren. We arrived around 13.30 and was greater very warmly. The food was very nice and the child burger and chips was as big as any I have seen in other places on the adult menu. The pub has am outside play area and at the end of the meal the owner came and asked if the children could have a lolly which was a very nice touch. If I was in the area again I would have no hesitation in using the White Horse again

Very nice place also has a park out the back for little ones but we turned up on a sunday and they dont open there kitchen then very odd being a weekend day so i cant recommended the food as we ate from the fish and chip van that was parked outside the pub but that was lovely food.

Called on the off-chance but so glad we did. The landlord was very friendly and inviting. He also does the cooking, and wow, what a meal. Really lovely food cooked to order,and very reasonably priced. Excellent NZ Sauvy B too, and so much cheaper than other places. Decent pint if Doombar as well. Car parking easy.

Recently moved house nearby and just had a family meal for 4. Special of King Prawns & Steak for £15 was incredible value and all the food was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. Lovely friendly staff, nice sunny garden and little playground for the kids. Dog friendly too and live sports in the spacious interior, so happy to have found a perfect local, we'll be back very soon!

So, this is the best pub in Berkshire according to Tripadvisor. This is what gives Tripadvisor a bad name. This was really a very average-to-sub-average affair. The menu was as plain as I've ever seen, very boring. The food was below average: under-cooked chips, the steak was under, even after going back for more cooking; you could taste the caked-on fat from the uncleaned grill on the burger. Service was very amateurish, inefficient and the waiter called me "mate". This place proves that Tripadvisor ratings are NOT to be trusted,

I was visiting my sister in Hermitage and went to The White Horse for a Sunday lunch. I'm vegetarian and their veggie option was a roast of Quorn fillet, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a selection of vegetables with vegetarian gravy. The portion was generous and the meal was very delicious! I recommend it to vegetarians and non-vegetarians having a meat-free day! You definitely won't feel left out when eating with others having a traditional Sunday roast. The pub is spacious, airy, smartly decorated and the staff are professional and friendly. The garden to the back is also spacious and there are play equipment for the kids. A great experience!

Had an excellent Saturday evening meal here at the White Horse. The staff were fantastic and could not have been be more helpful or kind to us. It felt like such a friendly local pub again! The food was very very reasonably priced (we paid £10.95 for two courses which included a steak!) and was very good pub food. It was simple but worked very well! The steak was cooked nicely and the sides with all our dishes were very nice (homemade chips were a big win!) The starters too were good. Overall we left the pub at the end of our meal feeling extremely positive and glad to have had an excellent visit!

The landlord told us the chef was new and needed to find his feet so the menu was limited for the moment, which was fine. Got given “complementary” “vegan” samosas which he asked us to check. They had peas in so looked ok on first glance. They were frozen in the middle so were returned. They were reheated, inc the one we cut in half. And following that saw they were in fact they were meat ones!!! Very disappointing as had eaten part of what we were given!! By that time the experience was in a bad place. The vegan main came which was a mushroom wellington. All seemed fine but cheese was found. After the lamb meat samosa experience alarm bells were ringing. However was shown that the cheese was vegan mozzarella so it was fine, too the best of my knowledge. However the meal was ruined before that as doubt had crept in. Finished the meal and went to pay. No discount applied for the serving of meat to a vegan. What the hell! Plus the bill was wrong too. Have eaten here before but won’t do again. Disappointing on a major scale.

Lovely country pub, welcoming friendly staff and nice outdoor area.

My friend and I have chosen this pub as aplace for us to meet rather than in a service station on the M4. We like the people here and the food is good. For us we like the feeling of being made welcome and given very good service. They will do any combination of things for you from the menu which is great. We have decided that this is our place to meet up for the foreseeable future.

Nice country pub with large rear garden

I went with my friend for dinner but it was quiz night. We didn’t eat but we joined the quiz and had a great laugh. The pub was packed and a nice atmosphere. Went again for food with my partner and the staff were as friendly as the first time. We had fish and chips and ham and chips, both were lovely. Highly recommended!

Just called in when passing and had a Pizza, it was blinkin awesome + the added benefit of really friendly staff and nice surroundings :-)

Stopped here after reading the great reviews. We were served by a number of very polite and professional children. We assume this is a family pub. They were very good but did forget a few things. This however did not cause us any bother. The food was excellent. Glad we chose the pizza. We also tried one of the burgers which was good. Drinks are slightly expensive but not too bad for this area. We would certainly go back again.

I took my family to the White horse as a belated birthday treat for my son. We went on Tuesday and had 2-4-1 pizza as my son had never been before. Such a brilliant deal. He was amazed by the size of the pizza. Graham and staff are really friendly. We really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it! 😄

Table of 12 for a family birthday with ages ranging from 4 to 80. The food was well presented, plentiful and promptly delivered. The bar and waiting staff were friendly and professional and the play area outside allows a drink in the sun whilst the kids burn off some energy. Second time visiting and we will return

Met up with friends this week for a pizza night special.. we booked weeks in advance and when we arrived we were told there were pizzas but when we came to order the staff were abrupt and told us there weren't any. Very disappointed.

The food is delicious. Perfectly cooked. I had a pizza & my friend had sausages mash gravy and peas. Such good food, would definitely recommend !

Made this the final destination of a dog walk in the local wooded hills. I was hot and dusty and so was the dog. Both of us were well catered for here; me with a pint of East Coast IPA, him with a 'specially procured bowl of cold water. We were made to feel at home and this is just the sort of pub I will remember for another drop by. The garden looked lovely and the menu was promising although I did not have sufficienent time to try it out.

Had a nice lunch, grilled peach salad with chicken or fish was really nice and satisfying.

We went here as a large group of about 14 with several kids and babies - the staff really looked after is and coped well with the carnage

Heard it had a big kids play area, so gave it a go. Play area is a bit disappointing, big space, but not much play equipment in it. Food was standard pub grub and ok really. No choice on the draught real ale front.

We visited on 6th July. Fantastic play park facilities in large gated back garden with swings/slides/monkey bars and a football pitch.

We read the reviews and were impressed so arranged to meet friends at the White Horse for lunch. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and made very welcome. The menu choice was very good and we chose fish and chips. Hunter chcken and Ham, eggs and chips and we were all very impressed with the quality of the food. Service was perfect and the conservatory provided a cool and comfortable place to enjoy our meals. We would certainly like to return.

Nice garden with kids play area and place to park but that’s about it. The food is below average - cod was undercooked, other items looking quite sad - apart from probably pizza. Waitresses were not coming to ask if anything ok, messed up with what was ordered as well

Our second visit, previously visited two years ago. The change in quality is significant and it's gone downhill since last time. Only two staff covering all food and drink. Minimal menu and not great quality. Won't be returning

Lovely place, ordered our meal, waited and waited over an hour, couple in front arrived and were served before us!! Very disappointed

This is a great place to visit for a quick bite to each on your journey. The location is great it’s right between Bath and Windsor among other locations. The food wasn’t expensive and it was quite quick especially for being the only ones in there. Don’t let the number of people turn you off because sometimes the owner said there hopping while other times it’s only 1 group. The food was fairly good a little interesting but good especially for being the only restaurant around here. I had the hummus and the hunters chicken. The hunters chicken was not what I thought it would be: it was a piece of chicken with bacon (both of which were cooked perfectly) and melted mozzarella with bbq sauce. The dish also included a large portion of French fries and coleslaw. My family got the breaded Brie, for us personally this kind of disappointed us just because we don’t particularly like fried food, but that’s what it was and afterwards we agreed that we should have known this. Along with my father got honey ham the ham was served cold which was disappointing but the taste made up for it. My mother had garlic bread which was good, as well as, the goat cheese peach with candied pecan salad (something like that) which was very good. Since we were the only ones in there after a family left we got to talk to the owner who was incredibly kind and generous. I would definitely recommend going if you need a place to eat it’s well worth it!

Apart from it being a miserable day, we had a warm welcome from the staff - we were a party of six, all ordered at the same time, and received the food altogether lovely and hot, delicious. I had the ham, eggs and chips, which consisted of 3 lovely thick slices of ham freshly cut, 2 eggs, and triple cooked chips. Too full up for desert had the coffee, unfortunately the coffee for me was too strong, should have asked for a weaker one.

Someone put this is the best food in the RG area. I believe this person hasn't eaten at many places in the RG area. Food is average to good, generally over priced and the reviews are very over rated. Good food but certainly far from being the best and a little way from being value for money. Just slightly on the high side imo. There are other places offering better food in the area, better food for the same price. I am not saying this place is awful as it is quite far from it. I am trying to provide a realistic review, it's a good family pub just not excellent due to the price and the qualify of the food. Improve the food so it's top notch or lower the price to that which the food represents. It's a shame as it is my closest pub but I will travel else where for these reasons . It has the garden which is an appeal to those with children and gives them somewhere to have fun on the nice days while giving the parents time to relax the staff not all that friendly at times or overly attentive but it's very hit and miss.

Dropped in to the White Horse after a visit to the Living Rainforest on a rainy half-term Wednesday. I found this lovely pub on trip advisor and am so pleased we did. Service was exceptional, and the food of a very high quality.

This was my first time at The White Horse, my friend and myself were looking for somewhere to meet half way and we came across this. The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. The pub has a lovely feel to it and they have a nice play area for kids, which I am looking forward to taking my daughter to next time. I would highly recommend The White Horse based on the overall service and food. The staff cannot do enough for you, thank you very much for a lovely meal :)

We visited on Thursday for a business lunch and really enjoyed the food. Nice, freshly cooked, homemade dishes and really good portion sizes. Very good prices too. On Thursday, there is a choice of dishes for £10 each. Owner was pleasant and the place was clean and smartly decorated. I would recommend The White Horse and will visit again soon!

Great pub with an impressive menu including stone baked pizzas, an acomodating landlord backed up by friendly staff, never mind the traveling I think I'll make it my local.

I visited on a Friday night with two of my girl friends. Wine was OK, Camembert tasted lovely but with no seasoning. Not enough bread or chutney for the Camembert - asked for more and they charged more. We opted for the chicken as a main course- it was dry, badly presented and tasted of nothing. Burger was overcooked and plate was mostly full of chips rather than anything else. We advised the waiter, and tried to do it discreetly as the restaurant was quite empty who was rude, raised his voice and seemed to take offence. Won’t be going back.

Went here for a surprise lunch with my friends. Was greeted by Graham, the landlord, with a huge smile and a wave. We had BBQ chicken wings and 2 Burgers. Wings tasted delicious with a generous but responsible portion size. The burgers were cooked to perfection, with a side of fries which tasted great. Will definitely come back!
