The staff here are what make this place special and one we return to again and again. There is a very warm and comfortable seating arrangement downstairs. The pepper steak and traditional pasties are delicious and we enjoy their coffee too. Thank you!

The Bakers Lounge is family run, they always make you feel so welcome, the upstairs bar and lounge area is very comfortable and relaxing, what a great way to have a real Cornish Pastie with a pint or a glass of wine, excellent place

Great food and the staff were super friendly and lovely! Stopped for 2x pasties (peppered steak and steak and ale) plus two coffees. Ready quickly and taken to cute upstairs bar area. The place was really chilled and pleasant - think they do pastries to take away and reheat at home too

Been in here a couple of times now and really like it. Very nice coffee, much nicer than the big chains coffee in my opinion. Really nice comfortable surroundings to sit and chill out. Staff seemed to be very nice and helpful also. I have to disagree with the review before mine in regards to the pasties, I've had them a couple of times and they are among the nicest pasties I've ever had anywhere. They have a nice bar area upstairs as well so I'm looking forward to checking that out at some stage also.

Reheated, Pastie, £4.80 for basic cold or microwave Pastie. Nothing special Prefer Greg’s to be honest. Would definitely not come back for food.

Sopped for a coffee today and was left under whelmed. The staff were friendly but inexperienced weekend workers. The coffee was poor, weak tasteless and more about quantity than quality. The food selection looked mass produced and unappetising. Seating was poor. Sorry for the poor review but I can’t see a reason to return.

We have been to the The Bakers Lounge Bar a few times now and without fail, have enjoyed our visits there. The pasties and coffee are superb, together with the very friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere; it all adds up to a very enjoyable experience. The format is kept deliberately simple and this works very well. There is also a small bar upstairs. There is great selection of background music coming over the sound system, which is just loud enough to be heard, but at the same time, not too loud to be intrusive! Next time we are Newbury we will be sure to make another visit. Oh....they also do a small selection of pizzas, plus croissants etc.

We just popped in for pasties and being half Cornish I do know what a traditional pasty is. The lady serving was lovely and very helpful with allergy advice, with my husband being allergic to sesame. She let him read the ingredients himself and put on clean gloves to handle his pasty. The pasties were very nice and full of flavour. We will certainly go back!

This is worth visiting, it's a pasty cafe downstairs and laid back bar upstairs with leather sofas and old film poster.

I normally pop in to grab a pasty for my hubby, missing out due to being gluten intolerant, but The Baker's Lounge now has gluten free traditional pasties - which are delicious and gives me another excuse to come back!

Went here for breakfast this morning and settled on an egg and sausage roll and a hot chocolate. The roll was excellent with fresh crusty tasty bread with an egg omelette and quality sausage filling. I believe bacon and hash brown fillings are an option too. Having had hot chocolate in all the chain outlets, this was much better quality. A great start to my Friday :). Thank you.

This new restaurant in Newbury is a rea treat. We came here for lunch and had the most wonderful pies possible. The staff are ever so friendly, and the atmosphere and decor are great. And the prices are very reasonable. We'll be back before long.

We came in for our small work Xmas do and had a Fantastic meal, great service and laughs with the staff. They cater well for allergies which really helped us with choosing this venue.

We went for a belated birthday meal for one of our party members. When we arrived we were taken to our table and were served very quickly. Half of us ordered starters and they came out as expected, if not better. The mains had been ordered at the same time as the starters and we found that we did not have to wait too long after our starter plates had been cleared. The food was extremely tasty! We were catered for as we needed for the party. OF COURSE we ordered desserts! As a party, we felt that we were not rushed to finish our 3 courses and had a lovely meal in a very comfortable atmosphere.

A good Sunday lunch, warm pub, a open space, not stacked with tables. Going to revisit

The Queen’s Arms pub is in a lovely area with a nice garden, but it’s overpriced, and the fish and chips was more batter than fish. Only plays horse racing on the TV. The saving grace? There’s a hotel next door—perfect for escaping the downstairs horse racing on the TV and starting a bit of your own jockeying with the wife. Staff are very nice, 3/5
