Mug & Brew in West Berkshire

Lovely independent coffee shop definitely always support out local companies. I find that the other big brands arent as nice and the food especially the cakes are amazing.

Great breakfast and service. Was passing through the area and stopped here for breakfast. Had a delicious ham and cheese croissant and hubby had smashed avocado toast. Both delicious. Served with decent pot of tea. Perfect!

I drop in frequently on dog walks for a mid-walk coffee. The staff are always so friendly and always make my dog (and me) feel very welcome. The coffee and cakes are always consistently good, and Max appreciates the treats. It's fantastic to see a local independent business doing well particularly when up against the big chains. It proves good coffee, tasty cakes and warm friendly service will always win out.

Great coffee & gorgeous homemade cakes......but it is the lovely staff that make this the best place to go to have a break or lunch. Brooke, Flo, Andrea, Jess, Paula & Maddy are always tremendous and terrific to talk to. Thanks for the 1st class customer experience.

Haven’t been to Mug and Brew for a while but visited last Friday 02/09/22 with my Daughters and Granddaughter and the Coffee was amazing and really lovely staff, and made a return visit on Monday as it was so good. Best Coffee in Berkshire

Looks like a real locals place for coffee and cake. Seats inside and outside, all on one level. Established about 6 years has bright and cheerful staff

I am fairly new to the area and was in search for a cozy, friendly local coffee bar! This is the place. Delicious homemade cakes, clean facilities, great atmosphere. Staff are very attentive especially the regular brunette behind bar. My new local spot for sure

Popped in after a recommendation from a friend for an afternoon coffee & cake with my family. We were delighted to find out all the cakes are handmade! The staff were delightful! Mug & Brew stood out to us as one of the most COVID safe coffee shops in the area! Prices were fair and you definitely get what you pay for! Overall an incredible experience! To celebrate my friend's birthday, we went to the Cheese & Wine Night. As my partner doesn't really like cheese, we picked the charcuterie sharing board. We received 9 pieces of meat between two of us and no grapes (as specified on the menu)...and paid £13! For the same price, our friends who ordered the cheese board got significantly more. I could've made a more substantial sharing charcuterie board at home and for far less as a meat selection pack is about £9 cheaper!! The staff were lovely but not very attentive and didn't ask if we needed any more bread or extras. Very disappointing. We were so hungry, we had to get a Burger King on the way home...

Popped in for a cup of tea and decided to have lunch. My husband had the avocado and tomato open sandwich and I had the Brie and Cranberry panini. It was very good. The ladies in there are very friendly. Worth a visit!

I went here for a recent coffee this time I couldn't wait to leave there was moping going on under my table which felt awkward and the coffee arrived with chocolate on with out asking me and as I was having an anxious attack I wanted to leave as was too many people in a small place tables close and I was working out how to move out with out crashing in to the next table then on attempt at the door both sides locked sew me go there no one said anything till I looked around for help I was told to use the the other door a sign would off been useful informing the door was locked I decided I won't be going again Costas much better

We walked 5½ miles for brunch here and it was worth every single step. Friendly staff. Fresh, clean and simple decor. Delicious coffee. Dog friendly. Good selection of sandwiches, paninis, bagels and cakes. Obviously well known by regulars which we will definitely become...

Coffee with a friend, just to catch up with the gossip. the café is a lovely place to visit nice atmosphere, great coffee, decided not to have one of the lovely cakes hopefully next time. The girls serving are great thank you for good service.

Popped in for a quick coffee. It’s quite small so there aren’t many tables but the coffee is great and the cakes/snacks looked amazing. I will definitely be back again.

Called in for lunch and ended up eating WAY too much 😊. Beautifully presented food and very tasty. Toblerone cheesecake to die for !! Would highly recommend

I popped in today with my mum for some lunch. We had a look on google to see if there were any coffee shops nearby that we hadn't tried before and I'm so pleased we found Mug & Brew!The place itself is decorated really nicely, it looks very nice from the outside and the inside is welcoming. We love the little set up with the different seating (bench, table and chairs, higher chairs).The food and tea/coffee was so good! Staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and the food came out quite quickly. We liked the display of cakes on the counter so we could see what was on offer and just how good it all looked!We didn't use them but they do also have free wifi and a toilet.We're both very full of fantastic food and so happy now, we will definitely be returning!

What a great little place! This was our first visit but we’ll definitely be going again and will recommend it to friends. There was a wide variety of food to decide from and what we chose was absolutely delicious

It's a very small independent cafe and considering it's an independent cafe I would have thought the owners would have been more friendly and welcoming.

Have been in here twice and both times the service has been great and my cappuccino well made.

Really like the Mug and Brew. It’s family run with willing staff that all make really excellent coffee and serve quality fresh light food and excellent homemade cakes. It is quite small but that is part of its charm, they do really well to make everyone welcome. I love it!

Came here for a change of scene and a relaxing afternoon. Very lovely. Great cake, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I'll definitely be adding this to my regular coffee spots.

Popped into this lovely independent for a catch up with a friend. The staff were very friendly. We only had a drink but the food looked very nice. Dogs are also welcome which is a bonus.

Not ideal for people with babies in prams as the chairs don’t fit under the tables so you’re unable to push them in to manoeuvre the buggy around. Doors to get weren’t very wide and struggled to unlock the second door until eventually the waitress came over to help. And finally after all the hassle of squeezing into a seat the coffee was poor and bitter. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a NCT Mum who sits in coffee shops in big groups, just a very tired Mum who was up all night with a poorly 10 month old and needed a good cup of coffee after a trip to the doctors. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be and came home to my Sage barista express to brew a proper coffee!

Lovely coffee good service lively clean surroundings a bit prices but worth it for a treat. Will visit again.

A beautiful little cafe tucked in just off Thatcham high street. It is clean and the decor is very inviting. The staff always make us feel welcome. Real waitress service too.

I have been a regular at Mug and Brew since it opened, and it never fails to serve a great coffee. All the staff are friendly and care about your experience. The food is delicious and I never walk away feeling hungry or disappointed with my order. The food is freshly prepared and always served with a smile. Cakes are always a treat with a new and exciting one to try each week.

I visit this locally owned cafe occasionally when I am in the area, usually with my daughter and granddaughter. I is very tastefully decorated and very friendly. They serve a range of great lunches and beautiful home-made cakes. The food is great and it is a lovely, friendly place to have a drink and cake or a lovely lunch. Highly recommended.

A delightful cosy family run coffee shop located just off the high street in Thatcham providing a range of fresh home baked delights, exquisite arabica coffee and tasty lunch treats. A must visit for a coffee and slice of cake if passing through Thatcham!

Took my wife and twin daughters for a morning coffee and cake! AMAZING, the two young girls were just great and nothing was to much trouble. Why would you go to a coffee chain and pay a fortune for poor service when you can have outstanding service at a much better price. We will only be going to this establishment from now on.

Met a friend here for a business catch up. Very quaint coffee shop but very lovely. Nice atmosphere and staff are very welcoming. Prices are good and some lovely treats.

A very pleasant place to stop briefly. I just had a decaf coffee, which was served quickly and had a lovely flavour. My wife enjoyed the hot chocolate.

Visited here this morning, lovely café with great selection of pastry items, cake and sandwiches. They were very accommodate our toddler with high chair and we were able to buy some well priced fruit for her. Go and give it a try, you will not be disappointed!!

It's the perfect place for relaxed cup of coffee and delicious cakes! Very cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The chai latte is exceptionally good!

We went here for the first time last weekend. The coffee and cake were delicious and the staff were friendly. The only thing that let it down slightly were the acoustics - it was a bit noisy in there due to all the hard surfaces. We will definitely go again.

I often visit Mug and Brew, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends or family. There is always a friendly welcome.The range of treats, cakes, pastries, drinks, is large, sometimes making it difficult to choose. All the food on offer is very fresh, the sandwiches made to order.

I visited last week during my lunch break with my husband and son. We could not get the pushchair through the door without a member of staff unlocking the second door- so not the most welcoming of entrances.

Such a lovely and friendly coffee shop, with fantastic fresh coffee and an amazing array of homemade cakes. A must to try whenever your in Thatcham.

Mug and Brew is a lovely family run coffee shop. I am always greeted with a nice friendly welcome, the coffee is amazing and the freshly made cakes in there are gorgeous. I always recommend it to my friends and love going there for lunch.

I've been going to Mug & Brew pretty much every day since the start of the year. It's exactly the kind of coffee shop I like; amazing gourmet coffee, aeropress/drip options, knowledgable staff and a cosy feel. Having previously only had Costa in the town, Mug & Brew has answered my prayers and then some. The Volcano coffee they serve has a great taste in Espresso or with milk and they are open and keen to try new brew methods. The cakes are consistently excellent, with most of them baked in house by a barista who is passionate about baking. Check out the photo of the rainbow cake I posted! In short, this is a must visit for anyone who wants a great coffee experience!
