The Woodpecker is fantastic if you have an event/party. Their marquee, outdoor and indoor areas are great and food prices are very reasonable. Emma and Rob are so accommodating and made things so easy. We had a great time celebrating my partner’s 30th birthday!

It's ok. People are lovely but the food is nothing special

Me and my now wife had our wedding reception at this lovely venue at very short notice (3days) after being let down by someone else. Rob, Emma, Ben and brett as well as other staff on the night sorted us right out and we can't thank them enough for what they had all done for us. We will recommend this place to anyone we even came here today for a fathers day meal which was 10/10. Thankyou to everyone who was helping the night before and on the night to make our day so special. Thankyou x

Nice quiet after work drink staff even made us chips after the kitchen had closed and a decent pint o Guinness also shandy was gid sitting in the beer garden

Excellent Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit

My wife and I popped in for lunch yesterday on our way home from Andover to Herefordshire. This is the second time in the last month that we called in for lunch. Again Zoe the barmaid/waitress was very friendly and welcoming and remembered us from our previous visit. This is an Arkells pub and I had a nice pint of 3B. We both ordered Lasagne (homemade) which we had also had at our last visit, it again came out piping hot and is very tasty. I can certainly recommend this pub for lunch with its traditional pub grub and we will be visiting again when next in the area.

Although the service was friendly the food was terribly disappointing. The menu read well, good pub food, but what arrived was clearly sourced from a frozen packet and didn’t resemble the menu description in any way. I wonder if the chef that cooked many of the meals mentioned in the good reviews has left and they are simply warming pre bought food up should anyone want to eat. A real shame as it could be a great stop off point.

Great little pub with fantastic staff, nothing to much trouble especially for Emma the landlady. We had a works Christmas dinner here and it went great, food was delicious. We will definitely return again!

It can be a bit tricky finding a decent Sunday roast and this was a lovely surprise. From the warm greeting when we arrived from the landlord, a super cute dog, a selection of newspapers, sport on the TV and even the small scissors for the condiments, everything was a delight. The chicken was delicious, cauliflower cheese which was historic, lovely roast potatoes, nice yorkshire pudding and a super selection of vegetables. I cannot wait to return!

We turned up wanting a table for 5 on a Saturday afternoon. They were busy forfilling customers in a marque. They said there would be a delay, which for fine and honest. It was worth the wait. Good all day breakfast. Friendly staff. We have been back again for curry. Large and varied menu

Very dog friendly ( inside and outside !) Owners were very friendly and we were made to feel welcome. They made such a fuss of our dogs which was really nice. The food was simple but good and came out quickly.

We had a great time staying in your car Park in our motorhome, When we turned up you were there to meet us and show us where to go. We had a lovely couple of days in the pub, eating your bbq food and your delicious sunday lunch 5 stars. Meeting some of your bar staff, past and present who with your locals were very welcoming and friendly. Can't recommend you all enough. Ps. Thanks for the lend of the car, if we are up your way again we will see you if you have room for us.

Called in on our way to Gloucester after finding it on the route planner. Pleasantly surprised by good food and friendly staff. Large selection of food but all proper pub grub- ideal for what we needed. It was nice to be in a ‘local’ rather than a ‘chain’

I can not recommend this amazing country pub as the perfect evening wedding venue ***** the marque is stunning when it is decorated and there is plenty of outside space for guests to move around and mingle, Emma is the most accommodating host and will make anything happen for you all on your special day, plenty of parking and the evening buffet was perfect just what we wanted! We didn't have to organise the DJ, Gift card post box, Sweetcart if you want it, welcome drinks and much more just pop over there and Emma will instantly make you feel at ease and we couldn't thank her enough for making my daughter wedding just perfect 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️🥰

We stopped here for lunch and had an amazing meal. Everyone really enjoyed theirs. The owners were super friendly and so kind to our dog giving him a bowl of water and a treat. Would come back if ever passing through. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was the fact that we had a longer than normal wait for our food (a fact that they apologised unreservedly for)

Decent pint of Arkell's 3B but the pub seemed a bit unfriendly, might be bad timing on my part, lovely pub dog though, Lucy.

Could be such a nice place. The staff are very friendly......however: It's very depressing with grey carpet, grey panelling and grey walls. The lighting is all wrong. There's a corner of the bar that seems a dumping ground for unwanted household stuff. Passed today (February) and the awfully tacky Christmas decorations are still on the wall outside. Such a shame.

A really friendly and welcoming country pub. We went for a Saturday lunch, with a large group, including dogs and children and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. They thoughtfully asked if we would like the children’s food brought out first, and even brought special desserts out for the kids. They also brought water bowls and dog treats over (and gave the dogs lots of pats). We’ll definitely be back!

This was the fourth year running our quiz team have come for a Christmas dinner at the Woodpecker, spending our winnings from the year. As always we had a great evening. Nice atmosphere, we were well looked after, and the food (plenty of it) was yummy and good value as usual. Little additional touches too like a free glass of prosecco, chocolate treats on the table, and we loved the little Christmas stocking cutlery holders. It's safe to say we'll be making it a fifth dinner at the Woodpecker next Christmas.

Stopped here for lunch. Ordered an all day breakfast and sausage and mash. Took 40 minutes to arrive. Husbands beer was dodgy so he tried another which was also not good so he ended up with a cider. When food arrived it was vile. the mash resembled thick dried out glue. Over cooked sausages. Overcooked peas. Watery gravy. husbands bacon was dried to a crisp as was the fried bread, mushrooms and chips. The bar was cold. The atmosphere was non existent. Wont be going back on a hurry.... unless the place changes hands.

Surprisingly really nice! The inside is lovely and feels very warm and welcoming. I think the outside let's it down some what being super honest. Staff were very friendly and hosted us very attentatively.

A section of this place can be used for 70's movie set! Food 2/5 Atmosphere and Friendliness was perfect for movie as well!

Been here three times in the last few weeks. Twice during the week when we've had the amazing breakfasts and once on a Sunday when we had the best roast dinner we've had for a long time (meat and veggie option both fab). Staff are great, the food is awesome and the cider isn't to be sniffed at either.

What a fantastic night we've just had, popped in earlier today to book a table for tea and the lovely lady said its quiz night tonight would you like to join in, I said yes why not. Well I'm so glad we did, all the people made us feel really welcome,(as we're not from round these parts, we're here on holiday). The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced. If you're very staying near by then it's well worth a visit. Quiz nights Wednesdays and the first Saturday of the month. Thanks again team for a great evening 👍

Sunday lunch today ,simple but very good .Went for the mixed roast and was not disappointed apple crumble for dessert with vanilla ice cream. Tried the 0% cider and as a driver it was quite refreshing to have a cider without the worry of drink driving. Over all very good

Visited over Easter weekend, (Saturday night) we booked last minute and so glad we did. This pub is such a traditional pub, old and quirky feel, very welcoming and friendly staff. Food was fantastic, none of use left a crumb! Was so lovely - glad we stumbled across this place.

Well with the sun shining in the sun trap garden at The Woodpecker the families were all in for a wonderful treat! Juice and sausages for the kids to start then a wonderful Easter egg hunt in aid of Dingleys Promise, what a selfless wonderful morning - thank you Emma and the entire woodpecker team. We can’t wait to come back for the next summer event!

Took my mum there for mother's day. We both had the roast beef and it was delicious, one of the best roasts I've had. An extra jug of gravy and the vegetables and cauliflower cheese was brought to our table as well. Will definitely be going back.

Had a fab Sunday Lunch for Mothers Day. Food was superbly cooked and great selection of vegetables, including an awesome cauliflower cheese. Great roast potatoes and lashings of gravy. I had the lamb, hubby had the beef...Yorkies were great, and the whole meal including dessert...

Easy to review this one, great staff, loved my dogs, food brilliant and atmosphere great. We also hired the Marquee on the 27th of December for 45 people for a family Christmas party, just perfect, such a great day and great venue.

Booked a table for a family get together. Staff were very friendly, food came quickly but we never felt rushed. Very relaxing. Great value tasty roasts with tons of vegetables. Puddings also tasty and excellent range of GF and Vegan options. Landlord (Rob) also recommended a walk locally although the heavens opened just as we were setting off. Very welcoming to our rabble!

Lovely walks around and food is ok. Our real issue was an employee who kept trying to touch our rescue dog when we politely asked not to. Also had the audacity to tell us how to train our dog! Eventually moved on to our friends dogs also winding them up causing commotion and sharing his 'expertise' in dog training.

A pub surrounded by lovely dog walks and okay pub food but let down by a member of staff who decided to wind each of ours dogs up and then aggressively insult them and our dog training. Really shocked by his insistence on teaching us how to handle our dogs. Definitely won’t be going back.

Interesting place, a hint of hot Fuzz but surrounded by some good local walks. Good food if not a little bizarre having roast potatoes with a baguette but yum none the less! Delightful staff and very accommodating, also seemingly very popular :)

We stumbled on this pub whilst passing through. The owner was so helpful even assisting with parking our large motorhome. His staff were efficient and smiley and the food was tasty and good value. Lucy the pub dog was kind enough to share a biscuit with our own dog! A lovely place to visit and highly recommended. Thanks Guys.
