Lovely food, welcoming and comfortable restaurant and a fantastic service from Emily.

Emily’s service and her politeness made our meal! Great good, great service, would highly recommend!

Food was a bit hit and miss. I think if you are going for a burger or fish and chips then it’s fine. But I had a curry and it was very bland. Likewise the chicken rillettes as a starter was not great. We found an huge piece of bone and gristle which was quite off putting. Onion rings were superb. Starters came out quickly but waited an age for our mains. We had been seated for over an hour before our mains arrived. We paid the service charge because the girls were working hard but it didn’t feel particularly well organised. Will maybe look for another pub to meet at next time with a better menu and more consistent quality of food.

A fabulous Mother’s Day dinner at the Fox and Hounds. A tad disappointing that they had run out of cauliflower cheese but the roast otherwise was fantastic! First time bringing the children here and I couldn’t believe the size of the portions, very generous indeed! My mum had nothing but compliments about the crumble too! Emily’s service was once again impeccable, nothing was too much for her, thank you!

Had a great experience here where they accommodated a large group for a work leaving lunch. There were 26 of us and everything went so smoothly. We preordered our food a week in advance and once we were all seated, the food arrived really promptly so the kitchen was very organised. The staff were helpful and we all felt welcome. Would recommend, thank you!

We had a fantastic evening at the fox and hounds tonight, enjoying a well-prepared three-course meal in a cozy and welcoming setting. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent throughout the night. Our waitress, Emily, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. She was knowledgeable about the menu and checked in at just the right moments without being intrusive. For starters, we had the calamari, which was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The seasoning was spot on, and the accompanying relish dip added a nice touch of flavour. The main course was a chicken burger, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was juicy, the bun was fresh, and the toppings complemented the flavors nicely. The portion size was generous, and the side of fries was well-seasoned and crispy. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the doughnuts, which were warm, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. They came with a tasty dipping sauce that made them even better—definitely a great way to end the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. The food was great, the atmosphere was inviting, and Emily’s service made it even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back! Rating: 5/5

We booked last minute for dinner on a Friday early evening. Ordered fish and chips plus kids meal. Food was great, not oily at all. Super kid friendly too, child's food came out together and not piping hot so they could eat straight away which was greatly appreciated!! Emily, our server, was fantastic especially with the kids and catering to GF allergies not listed on the menu. An easy place to enjoy dinner with a toddler!

Good afternoon, I recently visited your restaurant in Theale and, unfortunately, left feeling very disappointed with the experience. After months of hard work, my husband and I were looking forward to a well-deserved treat, but what we received fell far short of expectations. The beef burger I was served was both dry and cold, and instead of a expected proper beef steak, my husband was given what appeared to be three pieces of chewy leftover Sunday roast. It's a huge disappointment that your Sunday menu doesn't have a option of a proper steak. While the location, decor, and prices suggest great potential, the quality of the food and service were severely lacking. There were several missteps in the service: - despite arriving before another table, they were served first - after we finished our starter, it took 15 minutes for anyone to notice - and another 35 minutes for our mains to arrive, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy - nobody came to check on us if everything was okay as I wanted to share my disappointment with the waitress that served us - after finishing our meal, we were left unattended while the staff focused on cleaning a nearby table. Frustrated, we ended up paying at the bar and leaving without dessert. Unsuccessfully I tried to send a message via your contact us section on your website to share the bad experience. It’s a real shame that a restaurant with such potential overlooks basic aspects of service and quality. I hope this feedback will help improve the dining experience for future customers. A strong 4 star rating. Service was top notch. Our waitress Emily was excellent. She was polite, friendly, professional and showed a good understanding of the menu. Asked if we had any allergies and then acted on the information supplied. If I had a job role with customer facing customers I would definitely poach her. The food was good. We had the chicken rillettes to start. The crispy chicken skin would have been a good idea, but it needed more seasoning. The mains were confit duck and rump steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chips looked good. The duck was a little on the tough side, but did come with a good sauce. There was one pudding a crumble which was excellent, unfortunately served with the world's smallest jug of good custard. Overall, I would happily go back for a meal or a drink. It would suit romantic couples, family meals and work related meals /drinks.if you sign up for the loyalty card you get 25% of the price of your meal. For the two of us the meal came to £65 after the discount.

Lots of parking, lovely clean interior, attentive staff made you feel welcome and not rushed. Room between tables so you could hold a conversation without having to shout or be overheard. Give it a go, I am sure you will back and dogs welcome!

The welcome from Jade and Maddie into this beautiful pub was fantastic. We stayed on the car park for the night in our Motorhome. They love dogs and even brought out treats for them. The food was 5 star, like a gastro pub but with sensible prices. It's a must if your passing.

Found this pub by chance as a half way point to meet family. Have come here twice now and both times it's been excellent. Maddie served us both times and was so sweet with our babies and remembered us when we came back months later. Food was great and a wide choice. Will be back!

We try & go every few months to the fox + hounds as it’s the perfect inbetween for myself & my cousin after we both had babies a day apart. Maddie is always our server & she remembers us every time, no matter how long it’s been. She’s so personable & friendly! A credit to any company, I’d poach her for my business if we lived closer. We always have great food, we always have quick service. Highly recommended.

Stayed overnight in the car park in a big group of Orange Campervans! Very well looked after - food for our evening meal was fabulous and had lovely bacon baps in the morning. Our dog, along with all the other dogs in the group, were welcomed and were well looked after, with snacks and water available at all times. Lovely pub with great service.

We came to celebrate our son's 40th Birthday. He has learning difficulties. He appreciated the warm welcome that we all received and the many smiles throughout the service. We felt valued and were not hurried in any way. The serving staff brought candles on desserts and sang Happy Birthday and this was a highlight of the meal for our son.

Popped in the other night for a meal, quick to be seated, and order taken. The food was really good, couldn't fault it. Nice cosy pub, not many people in. There is a 10% service charge on the bill, I couldn't see what extra service I got for it, though. It's cheaper if you got your drinks before sitting down. 🤣👍
