Great local family pub with great food and small animal park to visit too.

Warm and welcoming traditional tile hung West Berkshire pub, framed with hanging flower pots and baskets. Friendly staff and the pub offers a good quality and good value Sunday lunch, portions were hearty. There's a play area and some small farm yard animals at the back of the property, so it's a good place to take children too.

Went here for a lunch with family and friends. 11 of us in total so we pre-ordered and everything was great. Food all served together, piping hot and served with a smile. The added bonus was a car show going on which kept the fellas happy. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely time here with our children. The field with mini farm, playground and football pit h provided so much fun. The staff were kind and polite. The food was home cooked and very nice but the portions quite small especially the chips. I will eat here again though as everything was fresh and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. A lovely family afternoon. Thank you all at the Cottage Inn.

We went for a meal with family (plus my own 2 kids) and we all had 3 courses and everyone loved every single course (including my fussy kids). I would be very happy to go again. If you add the playing area and the animals outside into the mix, you could indeed spend a lovely afternoon there.

We hired the field for our wedding in July and had a wonderful experience with Gary and Kimberley. We were able to erect our own marquee and have suppliers come on site, essentially having the day as we wished. Kimberley managed the communications well and all our questions were answered. Only downside is you have to turn the music off by 11pm which feels early for an event but we found this out after paying the deposit for the field. I would recommend holding your event here and stopping by for a drink at an old English pub.

today i went to this pub with my husband and our 3 children. after reading the comments here. i thought we would spend a nice afternoon drinking and eating something. we went to order but there were two people in front of us and a gentleman arrived after us. the lady at the bar asked that gentleman hello how are you what do you want to drink. it was a bad gesture because we waited 10 minutes in line and she didn't even say hello but skipped us pretending nothing had happened. i felt bad. maybe the pub is only for english people. ??i don’t know. we are italian. for me it was a racist gesture. i didn't say anything there because i didn't want to make my children feel bad I just left immediately and I'll never go there again👎👎👎 0⭐️

Excellent food, lovely staff and ambiance. Very welcoming. Let us park our very large motorhome without any problems, lovely spot in a pretty and quiet village, will return for another visit, highly recommend

Unreliable opening times, went three times when it said they were open. Closed every time. Need to either update their Google opening hours or answer the phone!

Booked a table for us for a 30th birthday with several kids and family members The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food fantastic value and tasted fantastic We then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the back garden where the kids played on the climbing frame and looked at the animals Can’t wait to go back again Thank you

Recently had an absolutely superb Sunday afternoon roast at the Cottage Inn. The pub has plenty of space, having a standard bar area for drinking, an inside area for meals, and a large covered attached marqee at the rear, linked by a conservatory. Service is excellent. It's suitable for families, with the rear area of the marquee being particularly geared out for kids, and if the weather is nice, there is also animals behind the car park!

My local pub for over 12 years - they have never failed to impress! When it comes down to their bonfire nights, drinks, food and service, this pub really does have it all. For families looking to dine here, there is a large facility out back for children with a climbing frame and also a small farm with goats, chickens, rabbits and more. This pub has so much to offer!!!

Excellent setting for a visit with children- except, there is no baby change facility. The toddler we came with loved the play equipment and the goats and chicks, there was plenty of shelter from both sun and the sudden hailstorm! It was well worth a visit and next time we'll try the food too. Changing facilities aside, a great family pub!

We have been many times and often take family or friends with us. It's always a warm welcome, good service and tasty food.

We have been going to the cottage for several years and the service and food has always been great. My son and daughter took me there for Mother’s day lunch. Three of us had a good meal but my daughter’s chicken was not. At no time during the meal did anyone ask us how our meal was or if we needed more drinks! When they came to clear the plates my husband mentioned my daughter wasn’t happy with her chicken, she asked if she wanted something else but by that time we had all finished our meals. My daughter went to pay for the meal and mentioned the chicken and was “I cut into in in the kitchen and it was fine and no-one else has complained.”. It was a chicken breast! My young was very discreet in her complaint, but was made to feel that she was making it up. I myself could not cut into the chicken easy and if it had been good my husband would have eaten it. I feel customer service was not good she humiliated my daughter when she was just telling the truth. A shame as was a very good pub for a long while and food was good, but you don’t argue with a customer!! However young or old

Came here today for Mother’s Day, have been coming here for years and have always left happy - until today. Had a roast chicken and all was fine except the chicken which was dry and inedible. I commented on this very discreetly and politely to the lady behind the bar who responded in a manner which was nasty and condescending, saying she had cut into the chicken and deemed it to be fine as nobody else had complained. The chicken had clearly not been freshly cooked and was difficult to cut in to. Was really surprised as service here is usually great so was disappointed to be met with such a rude response, almost as if the employee thought I was lying so tried to catch me out as if I was a child. To add insult to injury she took only £2 off the bill, the roast dinner itself was nearly £15 and bill as a whole £75. Shame as I’ve recommended this to a lot of people and been coming for years. Will not be continuing to do so, or returning here.

We had a lovely meal at The Cottage Inn. The food was properly home cooked bad very tasty! We will be going back again at some point!

We thought we would try here out seeing as the reviews are so great! And it looked lovely from pictures, never been so disappointed in a place, the food took a very long time to come out and when it did the burgers were RAW! Uncooked! Do not eat here it’s not safe. ( if your ordering the beef burgers) it wasn’t until I took a bite that I noticed all the need mince was red, cold and RAW. We all had awful tummy’s after eating here.

Last Saturday of the month at lunchtime is Classic Saturdays. Couple of dozen cars and a few bikes and scooters there today. Always worth a visit.

Kids friendly pub. The outside is really good with a small playground, goats, bunnies and lots of green space to run and play, kids love it. Food was good and not expensive.

Really lovely family friendly restaurant. Child's portions are MASSIVE (i should have ordered one for my two). Food was tasty. Clear allergen menu and lovely attentive staff. Would definitely go again. Theres a kids playground/field and small animals just outside of the pub. Theres also a small pub garden. Can highly recommend. Only slight negative was that there was no baby change facilities in the ladies bathroom.

Came for mothers day yesterday, no complaints from anyone, thoroughly enjoyed our Food! Waitresses were very hard working and very attentive. Puddings were delicious! Kids loved playing in the field/play equipment after and seeing the animals. We will be back! Thankyou
