Joined the horse-racing crowd on a cold January evening on our second visit to the Queen's Arms for a cosy Gastro-Pub dinner. The food was again of a good standard and super-quick to arrive. The service from young, keen and smartly turned out staff was professional and accommodating. We'll return soon.

We chose The Queens Arms as a central venue for family travelling from different parts of the country, so weren't familiar with the location or the pub, but we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, without being over the top, and nothing was too much trouble. The decor is cosy and elegant, and we had the Garden room to ourselves as a party of 13. The food was superb, a good variety and a really nice balance of great flavours without being too fancy - perfect to cater for a family group with a broad range of tastes! Would love to visit again in the summer as the countryside is stunning, and maybe for an overnight stay.

We stayed here for a couple of days in October. The rooms are in what I presume are converted stables, to the side of the pub, with a nice view overlooking a paddock at the back. All are named after famous race horses. Our room was comfortable with a double bed, tea/coffee making facilities, a clean, white bathroom and adjustable heating via the radiators...Great as it was cold during our stay. The only " annoying" thing was trying to get the TV to work with the Sky box attached...instructions are in the room but it seemed a little hit and miss to get it to work. We had breakfast included which was OK. Very basic buffet of potted yoghurt, juice, croissants ( which were not replaced when all used up) etc, together with the " usual " cooked options. Service was friendly but very slow, even when there were just a few guests. We had an evening meal on one of the nights. The food was very tasty, with a nice vegetarian curry available for myself but service was painfully slow. It was super busy in the pub that evening because of some sports match on TV and it was also very loud in there. Clearly there were lots of locals who had come in to enjoy the match and the atmosphere. We planned to go walking on the Ridgeway during our stay and asked the bar staff for suggestions of other places to visit and where to park etc... Although friendly and wanting to help, the staff said they were not local and were not able to give us any pointers on places to visit etc...maybe a suggestion to have some local leaflets available or have some printed walking routes for guests? I love traditional old pubs but I found the dining room to be a little " tired" and grubby. It was a nice break away for a couple of days but nothing particularly special. I would recommend this place for a dinner but I personally wouldn't return for a short break unless attending an event in that area as I'd rather try somewhere different next time.

Have had some very good meals at the Queens but unfortunately this was the worst. Sunday lunch. Lukewarm soup in a cold bowl. It was a tasteless gloop. Roast Beef excelent but sitting on a heap of I think kale. One carrot one piece of Parsnip. Two excuses for roast potatoes. An egg flip Creme Brulee which was a brown something. Am afraid someone needs to get a grip. No managment apparent.

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful this pub is in character and charm, but also how gorgeous the food was. Staying local from Wales, this really was the cherry on top for our stay. The rissoto my father had looked and smelled beautiful. My husband (who is himself a chef) had the hake and he said it was so delicious and even took a picture of the menu. Chicken wings perfect, the butter chicken curry beautiful, the duck also highly recommended. And you MUST have the truffle fries. Price is extremely reasonable... 6 meals and drinks coming to just over £150. Service was excellent. You should all be proud of yourselves, you all do a fab job. Can't wait to come back!

Good service, very good food, value for money and I left not feeling at all hungry...............unlike some places. Not full etc but portion size I would say was spot on. I would highly recommend it. Gripe ? Not with the restaurant as such but having several small children constantly running around the dining area is NOT NICE. Yes, of course, their parents should reign them in but they were too busy quaffing and, as we all know, parents are mostly immune to the noise of their own. What if I had asked the waiting staff to stop them being a damn nuisance ? Would they have acted at all ???They are likely to have felt awkward and I would have felt a bit awkward but.........................should I have task ??

The Queens has always been a favourite with us and we have been regular customers taking friends and family with us over the years. Our last visit was disappointing. Although the service was good the menu had been changed and was limited and without sparkle. The food was more ordinary and the steak pies were full of meat that was rather tough and unappetizing. We want to give our custom but our last visit put us off sad to say. Please return to your former glory.

We enjoyed a superb meal in the dining room. The gazpacho was deliciously refreshing and served with home made bread, shame there were no side plates as it is not very pleasant buttering bread on a table.
