I go here regularly. Small friendly little cafe in the village shop. Sometimes buy as popular with hikers and cyclists in the area as well as being used by us locals. Fantastic for a brief cuppa, with excellent barrista coffees and pots of tea with an excellent range of made locally or in house cakes, sausage rolls, pasties etc. Some rather fantastic 'salad' options [coleslaw] made freshly to accompany the above and there's always a good 'soup of the day', again made freshly. Wonderful people watching either indoors or out and really friendly volunteers running this community owned cafe. Highly recommended.

I met with a friend here for tea and cake - the cakes on offer were incredible, the portions generous and mine tasted devine as I'm sure they all would have done. Service was fast and continuous despite being busy. Our used plates were removed as soon as we'd finished to discourage the wasps which you'd expect in an outdoor setting.

We stopped at this delightful farm shop and cafe half way round our tour of Hampstead Norreys. The shop has an amazing selection of essential and non essential! food. The cafe has a great selection of homade cakes and coffee. The cafe also boasts a great brunch menu but unfortunately we arrived too late to take advantage of this but did have coffee and cake which was superb. Far better than Fortnum and Mason!

I was visiting the Manor Farm Courtyard Cottages and the Café is in the courtyard and what a gem I wished I was staying there. The shop is well stocked with local produce and the Café was excellent. We had home made Sausage Roll which was packed with sausage meat and seasoning and my colleague had a quiche. We also had fresh Apple and Ginger juice just delish.

My husband and I visited for breakfast on Saturday, and had a fantastic meal with the friendliest staff and local customers around! We have been before, but never for breakfast and it did not disappoint. We also left with a good bag of shopping from the very well stocked store, including the most delicious homemade ruby grapefruit marmalade which I can’t stop eating! We also took a slice of cake as they were irresistible on the display. We had the lemon cake with a cup of tea at home later that afternoon. We wish we’d bought two slices rather than shared!!! This is such a unique village effort and an absolute credit to everyone involved 💕

What a wonderful institute, a great "luxe" village shop and then this is a great go to place when staying in the village. Breakfasts are delicious, a killer bacon butty, great proper cups of tea but equally yummy for afternoon tea and fabulous cakes. Faultless, great value and good staff.

In our quest to find a decent cafe for two aging but still young in the head bikers, we tried the Courtyard Cafe for an all day breakfast. This is a delightful little shop/cafe run by volunteers who are friendly and helpful and pleased to see us. The food was very tasty (great local bacon and meaty sausages). While not the biggest we have had, it was freshly cooked and with drinks £20 for two of us which is OK. It is cosy inside - but in the summer it would be great outside.

Second time we have visited, what a very friendly and polite staff, we had soup to start with it was delicious followed by a nice slice of homemade cake and a pot of tea. The choice of cake or savoury pastry is amazing certainly makes for another visit Not forgetting the shop which stocks quite a variety of food.

I’m a frequent visitor to this little cafe and really like the atmosphere. It’s run by the community and there is always a friendly smile. The coffee is really nice and although I haven’t tried the breakfast ( it looks nice) and the cakes and pastries, everything looks home made and fresh. For a village shop there is a great selection of produce many of which are local suppliers.

This is a hidden gem with fresh made breakfasts, lunches and snacks. It is behind the volunteer and staff run village store. Some outside tables and some inside. Has ice creams and some locally made baked goods. Set back from the road and away from the traffic noise.

We had been interested to visit having seen in village of the year on the tv. The cafe is housed in a community run shop which has an amazing selection of produce..much of it local. We had a warm friendly reception and all the food was home made and very delicious. We had quiche and tortilla with salad followed by homemade cakes and excellent coffee. Unfortunately dont live in the area but would make a special journey to return.

My wife and I were thrilled to come across the Courtyard on one of our recent, local bike rides. It really is a gem. Outside, there is plenty of space to park bikes and and an attractive outdoor seating are in the courtyard. Inside, a feast of very tasty cakes await, all baked by those who work in the cafe. The coffee is excellent and prices are amazingly reasonable. What also stands out is the very friendly welcome and excellent service. It's now on our weekly programme of stops!

While visiting St Peters Church I noticed the The courtyard cafe. Decided to visit and have a light lunch as I was driving and do not like a full meal and then drive. To me it is very beautiful and friendly which included those who were seated. The food is delicious and the baked bread really tasty and the actual deserts luxurious. Very helpful owner and staff. The draw back is it is closed on a Monday why beats me and this applies to Sunday yet a lot of travellers come to see St Peters Church. Well when open it is a delight.

Very pleasant shaded area out side for lunch, outside what seems to be a thriving community shop with a wide range of goods to suit all pockets. For lunch there were burgers, flans, ciabattas, paninis etc with an excellent choice of freshly-made salads.

We called in for a coffee and rest stop end route to Cornwall via the Chilterns from Hitchin on a cracking summer Saturday. Plenty of space in the car park and lovely freshly fitted out appearance. We completely agree with the previous reviewer (Jacksietaxi?) about the brilliant staff. Fantastic stock. We would have bought a load of provisions if we were fully loaded and on our way to a holiday destination. Definitely will call in again. The patio and surroundings out back (with additional parking) has a fantastic outlook on some ancient barns.

I can't praise the Blackbird cafe enough. It's a regular for us, either for coffee and cake or a lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating, friendly service and ( most important) great tasting coffee, cakes and food. I particularly recommend (all the cakes and) the spanankopita - or it's sister filo pie - and the roasted carrot/quinoa salad. YUMMMMMY! (also a great loo stop for bikers)
