Rocket and Rye truly outdid themselves with their beef Sunday dinner! The portion was generous, perfectly satisfying a hearty appetite. What stood out was the quality of the beef – tender, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. The array of vegetables served alongside were excellent. Each bite was a blend of homely comfort and culinary expertise. Definitely a must visit for anyone craving a top-notch Sunday feast!

My parents booked this 6 weeks in advance for a family dinner The restaurant was far from busy near empty ..Ordered at 1:15 …the starters turned up at 2 o’clock ..45 mins later it took the staff a further 30 minutes to clear the table after eating …the bar staff do the table service so if the bar is busy the restaurant is on stop and the food goes cold ..45 mins after the starter the mains course turns up 3 .oclock 2 hours in the venison was off the menu …they run out of steak on a bank holiday on a sat afternoon..no steak for the sat night sitting …the steak I ordered turned up it was more like a burger than a steak …I complained..the barmaid . Come waitress said I can change it ..but it would be a while ..I laughed there’s no one in here it shouldn’t take long to cook a steak …you know we been sat here 2 hours …her reply well you did have starters ……I eat the steak out of embarrassment of making a justified complaint turning into an Argument…I didn’t bother with desert by this time we were 2 hours plus sitting down …the food hygiene rating is 3 ……avoid this restaurant at all costs

Happy days is a regular visit for myself and friends. Debbie is the most friendly proprietor and always has a chat and time for you. The tea is in old fashioned teapots and lovely china teacups. There is a great selection of homemade cakes and scones . I haven’t had lunch there , but seeing others eating has made me Hoping to do it soon. Bacon rolls and corned beef pie look delicious. Always a delight to go there

Very nice staff and good atmosphere; background music is great. Dog friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating. Good position for a cuppa and cake while out and about in Cowbridge. Now offering fine foodfayre from the M&S range of delectables alongside the usual delectable selectables. Link your Waitrose card to the Nero app for some extra little benefits.

Disappointing! We had Sunday lunch here. Had prebooked via facebook messenger, which they had confirmed, but they still weren't expecting us when we arrived. Sat us at a little table on a platform. Very old tired, grubby furniture. Stained and torn chairs. Glasses weren't clean. Service overall, was just ok. Very young girls serving who did their best. Food took quite a while to come out despite it not being that busy when we ordered, the veg and gravy arriving much earlier than the rest of the dinner. Food was extremely basic and rather bland. No dessert menu, the waitress verbally gave us 2 choices! Never experienced that before. Overpriced for what it was. The place needs an overhaul, a good clean and refurbishment, along with tastier food. Disappointing. We won't return.

Have always wanted to find this place after reading the reviews well on a beautiful sunny day I did and am I glad I did! What a delicious lunch I had and I will not be going anywhere else the next time I want a coffee or lunch whilst mooching around Cowbridge, why I here you cry, well I had one of the best eggs benedicts ever and at a very respectable price. The place is far more than just a cafe it is extremely dog friendly ( unfortunately I didn’t have my sweet gentle Truffle with me to get spoilt by the staff ) it has very friendly and attentive staff even though I had to remind them about my coffee😀 There was a warm and very inviting log fire but on this warm sunny November day I decided to sit looking out of the window to do some people watching whilst eating my delicious lunch…just walk a tad bit further away from the main cafes, pubs, hotels and enjoy this wonderful little find.

I was with a friend and we both chose the same thing Croque Madam on October 7. Was a lovely day and a super location so we sat outside. I ordered my CM without mozzarella cheese. My friends CM arrived all nice and toasted but mine was pale and smeared on the top with bechamel sauce which gave it a soggy top and didn’t even look toasted. I looked inside mine and managed to eat some of the bottom bread and a few of the mushrooms but the whole thing didn’t have any flavour. The chef had even forgotten to add Dijon mustard to mine, I knew this as my B sauce was pure white and my friends was yellow. Never seen two of the same dishes look so different and wasn’t to do with the mozzarella. I could hardly eat it so returned the enclosed plate to the she lady who had served us but she was now sitting comfortably on a nice chair on her phone. I explained the above to her, no offer of a refund or part refund, she could see i had hardly eaten anything she just said she would tell the chef. Shocking to pay and leave hungry.

Very disappointed with the breakfast, the beans were awful, tasted more like beans in a tomato pasta sauce. The bacon was smoked which it didn’t state on the menu, the poached egg was hard, also it was all piled on top of each other on a small plate. The cafe only 1/3 full when we visited but our table was full of crumbs, no spoons given with the coffees, no sugar on the table, no condiments or sauce offered with the breakfast. All in all it was distinctly lacking in all areas.

Most disappointing Sunday dinner ever. The vegetarian option that was supposed to be a Pearl Barley and nut crochette was a sloppy tasteless pile of unseasoned pearl barely with about 1 nut. This was served with 3 tiny roast potatoes and root vegetables that were mostly onions. No other veg unless you want to pay £4 extra. I paid £4 extra for cauliflower cheese that was curdled. £18 quid and I left hungry. Even ordering drinks was poor, the batmaid couldn't find the till button for a half pint, so suggested we'll have to have and pay for a pint instead! From beginning to end we were only half an hour as the atmosphere was so lacking, we ate our meal and left straight away. Passing three staff on the way out, not a single acknowledgement. Won't be back.
