Rocket and Rye truly outdid themselves with their beef Sunday dinner! The portion was generous, perfectly satisfying a hearty appetite. What stood out was the quality of the beef – tender, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. The array of vegetables served alongside were excellent. Each bite was a blend of homely comfort and culinary expertise. Definitely a must visit for anyone craving a top-notch Sunday feast!

It's a really nice restaurant, lovely food and great staff. The menu is mostly tapas style with lots of small plates, which you can mix and match. Good vegetarian options were available. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

Like so many amazing places around here, I have not had the pleasure of going in, but I can say the location is beautiful and this is the sort of establishment I would love to spend some time in.

This is a beautiful eatery in Cowbridge, we travelled down for the day and wanted a delish Sunday roast, and we definitely found it at Rocket & Rye. We booked a table in advance in case we missed out, the restaurant was cool even though it was boiling outside, it was really spacious where we sat and had a really nice atmosphere. All the staff were really lush, helpful and super attentive. The restaurant had such a nice layout and we felt very comfortable there. They did have some gorgeous looking small plate/starter options, but we opted straight for the Sunday roast, and it was beautiful! Everything from the roasties, to the vegetables to the Yorkshire pudding was top tier! Only thing I would say is that their website/photos of the menu might not be up to date, there are slightly different options to choose from according to what's in season/what they have when you go in there, but everything was really delicious! I then had an apple and blackberry crumble cake with custard, which was just the sweet sweet ending that was needed! It is a lovely restaurant and we will definitely be returning!

A delicious Sunday roast beef and yummy puddings .. lovely staff and unusually quiet (it was a sunny day) deserves to be very busy. Looking forward to my next trip to cowbridge 💕

We were recommended here after one of the other restaurants in the village was full. We had a superb meal, we chose a couple of dishes each and had the chicken to share in the middle. Delicious! Wine is good, service excellent, staff are really on the ball, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Could not fault a thing. Would highly recommend

Food was lovely portions very small though, they say 2-3 are equivalent to a main meal, maybe the case for a light lunch but if you're going for dinner get 3, some fries and one of the grazing pieces too to make up a meal, excellent quality and team were very sweet, loud music for a quiet venue but atmosphere picked up towards the end of the visit

We all go out to restaurants and shovel lovely food in our faces but this one really was noticeably a step up. The roast chicken Sunday lunch was immense. (Chef's) hats off to all concerned.

My partner wants to add that the ladies toilets were so well thought out with little extras in case you were caught short! Really nice touch!! Will definitely be coming back with the whole family.

Had a very nice lunch. Service was excellent. Full marks for coffee. Cheese buns, chicken wings and foccacia was very nice. Reasonable choice for vegetarians. Toilets were not very accessible if disabled.

From the welcome to paying the bill, dinner at rocket and rye was a very pleasant experience, a good selection of food, which all tasted superb to friendly helpful service and art work on the walls, hope to return in the future

First time trying Rocket & Rye and oh it was most definitely worth it. The wait staff were extremely friendly and very helpful when we were looking at the menu, explaining how it worked. The menu is what I would say is tapas, a selection of dishes to share. We chose four plates and each plate was divine! I cannot wait to come back and I have raved about your food! Highly recommend!!

I thought my experience at Rocket & Rye deserved a 5 star review. I booked in for Sunday lunch last minute. I must say how it exceeded my expectations, one of the best roasts I've had. The beef was cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes. Great value for money given the high standard of food served. The staff were also very friendly and well mannered. Great that we were able to take our dog, we sat in the garden and enjoyed the sunshine. Will definitely be a regular from now on.

The food at Rocket & Rye is beautiful. I have been a few times now with my mum and dad when I visit. The menu changes regularly and always has interesting, colourful, tasty dishes. I always feel I can't wait to come back and try a few different dishes. There is much warmth and happiness in the staff and they are always helpful and friendly. My dad has Alzheimer's and they are always accommodating and happy to help with his needs. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and I will be returning on my next visit to Cowbridge.

What a lovely place. There is loads of space here - the cafe is not just what you see in the window but goes down the length of the cafe and has a conservatory part on the back. Excellent small plates menu - perfect for a light lunch, and we could definitely have a full dinner here as well. A limited selection of beers and ciders as well as a good wine selection. We called in on a Friday lunchtime and it was moderately busy. Staff were very helpful, relaxed atmosphere. Food was very tasty - we had 4 of the small plates between 2 (hot cheese tart, French fries, beetroot and orange salad, roasted broccoli - gorgeous) plus a beer and a cider. That was more than enough for us (it was a warm day as well). The menu changes all the time, so you will need to see what they have available. We were told the chefs make menu adjustments daily. It will be good, whatever you have.

We started our culinary journey with the cheese choux puffs a little bomb of cheesy goodness and a elegent fresh dish of blood orange, preserved tomato and mozzarella and a gigantic scallop with creamy celeriac and sage butter. Delicious. For the main course, we opted for the roast sirloin of Welsh beef, and my dining companion chose the vegetarian nut roast. Both dishes exceeded our expectations. The beef was succulent, tender, and cooked to a perfect medium-rare, served alongside fluffy Yorkshire pudding, perfectly roasted potatoes, and a generous portion of seasonal vegetables. The accompanying homemade red wine gravy and horseradish sauce elevated the dishes to gastronomic perfection. Dessert, was an choice. Sticky toffee pudding and the pavlova. The sticky toffee pudding was rich and moist, with a luscious caramel sauce and a scoop of velvety vanilla ice cream. The pavlova was a delightful– light, tangy, and creamy – served with whipped yogurt and blood orange. In conclusion, Rocket and Rye has redefined the concept of Sunday lunch, creating an experience that will linger in your memory long after the last bite. The combination of exquisite food, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and impeccable service makes this gem in Cowbridge a must-visit destination for Sunday lunch aficionados. Booked Christmas Menu Lunch for a group of Friends. One of our number couldn't make it last minute and the Staff refused to honor their deposit off the final bill. This was not a good start considering we spent £60 per head at least. The drinks order took 5 attempts. The waitress didn't know what Rum they served, then ran back and forth to the bar to check the Rums in stock, then again to advise us that they didn't have Ginger Beer, then again to advise us that they didn't have Ginger Ale and finally to bring a round of Rum and Coke. We also asked for table water 4 times that never arrived the entire time we were there for a 5 course meal. The food was decent, Not sure what makes a fried chicken salad "Festive" but it did taste good. Slightly larger main course portion would have been great but overall we were well fed. Overall this place is let down by its staff.

I've been wanting to try Rocket and Rye for a while, but the usual menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian options. So as soon as I saw they had a set veggie menu for Valentines Day I booked in, and was delighted I did. It's a cosy restaurant with three areas to sit. Inside, conservatory or outdoors in the summer. The front of house team were fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. The veggie menu was priced £10 cheaper than the meat, something you rarely see and was appreciated. The four courses were all well executed and presented and tasted great. They aren't the biggest servings but I was nicely full at the end. A great night and all I want now is a monthly veggie supper club, I think it would do well!

Amazing quality of food at very reasonable prices. The cauliflower dish and the pulled pork toastie was especially a highlight.

The warm welcome everyone talks about is genuine. The food delicious. We particularly enjoyed the cheese choux starter, and the corned beef hash. The Caulflower dish was fab too. The other review that mentioned small portions was nonsense. We couldn’t finish everything and we like to eat. Lovely embience even at lunchtime. Support this place folks. We need nice places like this in Cowbridge. Thank you.

This place is amazing. Have been here 3 times now for the roast dinner on a Sunday and it never disappoints. The food is cooked to perfection and the staff are always really friendly and attentive. I would 100% Recommend

We visited Rocket & Rye shortly after they opened and were blown away by the quality of food, amazing service and overall value for money. As an indi restaurant the team regularly change the menu to make the most of the seasons, so when you visit there’s always something new to try! We’ve visited Rocket & Rye now perhaps 4 or 5 times and they just keep getting better. The Sunday lunch is a particular highlight with the best roast beef and giant Yorkies. John & Ceri have created something special in Cowbridge and it’s well worth a visit. And another… And another…

The best meal from a surprisingly gourmet long weekend in Wales. Great small plate selection. The stew was perfect for a winter's day and the orange, mozzarella and chilli salt salad acted as a fresh counter. Amazingly crispy chips!!

I've given this 5 stars as we really did enjoy our food here. We had seven plates between us and each dish was just delicious. Atmosphere was lovely and calming and staff were really helpful with our enquiries. Bit over priced against other tapas inspired places we've been to, but as it's Cowbridge I imagine £80 for seven dishes, two drinks and two coffees with tip isn't too bad. Would recommend.

We had the 5 course set menu for Christmas and it was excellent. Soup was delicious and the vegetarian salad and main course superb. Pudding and mince pies also lovely. Great service and a great evening.

I went for lunch the other day and had their 2 courses for £14 midweek special, it was absolutely fantastic. The starter was a really hearty chicken, leek and potato soup topped with a lovely herb oil, and the main was on the menu as “beef sandwich”, I wasn’t expecting too much but I can honestly say it was the best sandwich I’ve ever tasted. Melt in the mouth beef, dill pickled veggies, melty cheese and some kind of amazing sauce, this came with a side of (also amazing) Parmesan fries. Such a lot of food for the price and the quality was superb.

Great atmosphere , great food and decent price considering (especially compared to London) . Food was really fresh and had a nice twist. Presented really nicely too. I’d recommend if you are nearby as it’s worth travelling to.

Mmm, delicious small plates. There is a good variety to choose from. For me, the breakaway star was the mussels in a coconut sauce, lightly curried with fresh salsa.

Booked a table almost on a whim and so glad we did. The restaurant is a lovely space and the staff were great. The food was incredibly good - we only had vegetarian options and all of them were delicious. We were both very impressed - if we're ever back in the are again, we'll happily go a good bit out of our way to eat here.

This is the kind of place where you can see that every detail has been thought through with care. Superb quality! The food is deliciously rich and in little plates so you can share and get lots of varied flavours. The service is great, the drinks are great — I can’t wait to go back!

If you struggle choosing a dish - they will definitely assist you ! Food - perfect. Tasty, fresh and good looking! Everything very nicely plated. Menu changes along with the seasons, so all ingredients are fresh. Venue - nice, cozy, beautifully decorated. On top of that drinks list is also amazing. Plenty wine to choose :) It’s about 90 miles for me to travel there and every time it’s definitely worth it. 5 starts ❤️ Will be back soon !

Sorry not to be joining other customers in writing a 4 or 5 star review. Although the staff were friendly and the atmosphere pleasant, I found the food overpriced and underwhelming. I don't expect to order a hummus dish to find just a scraping of it buried under four wilted and over-cooked stems of purple-sprouting broccoli. Nor do I wish to order a slider for £8 which is far too small to share, although the menu is clearly designed as a series of tapas-style sharing plates. Everything was overpriced and is says is all when the best thing on the menu is the chips with wild garlic and parmesan, which we had to order two portions of just to fill up. Three of us went out for lunch, ordered seven dishes and came out less than pleased (or full), despite the dishes being (mainly) well-cooked and presented.

Amazing food, you can tell a lot of thought goes into each dish. Can't wait to go back to try a different menu. Such friendly staff and quick service too, completely recommend trying this place :)

We were lucky to squeeze in on a busy Monday bank holiday. I was hesitant when I saw the short menu but each dish was near perfect and complemented each other. My highlights were large sea prawns in wild garlic butter. Cooked in their shells were incredibly delicious and rekindled a liking for king prawns. Mussels were delicate in comparison and were a perfect match.

Lovely find, had been meaning to visit for a while but it was worth the wait. Delicious food, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, great cocktail was an unexpected bonus! Would highly recommend!

Amazing!!!food was outstanding only fault I could say is there wasn't enough of it,but that's only cause I love food,seriously portions were great,roast beef was cooked to my preference a really good medium just how beef 🍖 should be,roast potatoes were some of the best I've eaten,I would of taken photos but you should go experience for yourself,booking definitely recommend people going past seeing empty tables were being turned away, would I come again.......it's a fat yes from me!! My second visit; excellent service and ambience; I had the beef and my wife the hake, both were superb; the desserts were out of this world, chocolate mousse with vanilla cream and honeycomb, apple crumble with toasted marzipan and custard, sadly too full to have seconds….

First visit here tonight! - found by chance after a google search of restaurants in the area! So glad we came across this gem! It seemed quiet when we first arrived but that does not hve any reflection on the service or food! The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and the restaurant and the food is incredible! Really good balance and umami flavours in their dishes and a really varied menu! Can’t wait to return every month for a new menu! Really extensive drinks list too and nice wine selection! Would recommend!

We went for the third time today- this time for the Sunday Lunch menu and it hasn't disappointed once. We have tried the larger meals, the sharing plates and this time the Sunday roast and it's been amazing every time! The staff are all so nice as well- couldn't recommend it enough!

Although a bit on the pricy side there was a really good selection of food which was well presented and tasted delicious. It was really busy at 1pm for lunch on a Wednesday which is always a good sign. However service was a bit slow as the two waiting staff were run off their feet. Still a.5 star in my book as they were really pleasant and.communicated very well. Remember to take cash if you wish to tip as tips not included and the card system did not allow for tips to be added. Dogs welcome in the garden.
