Cwm Talwg Pub in The Vale of Glamorgan

I had a wonderful lunch with my 2 sons at the Cwm Talwg today. I hadn’t booked a table but staff thankfully found a table for us. Lots of choice on the menu so was hard to decide !! From entering to leaving the staff were attentive and super friendly. Our orders taken promptly and food served after a short wait, staff checked twice that our meals were ok. We had no complaints !! They were delicious. I don’t think the Cwm Talwg gets the recognition it deserves which is a shame as the food was lovely. We will definitely be back. I’d recommend trying this place

Brilliant table service by Chermaine and from Martin behind the bar. Friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely , really enjoyed our visit.

Lunchtime last minute visit. Staff very helpful, service prompt and polite. Meal better than expected. A pleasant experience all round.

I simply love my new local! Food is really good. Never disappointed. I had the sirloin steak on my last visit and it was, perfect! Sunday Lunch was amazing the time before. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Can't fault the place to be honest. Will be back soon for sure 😊

Thank to all the lovely staff for our gorgeous Sunday lunch. The food was amazing and piping hot, with yorkshire puddings to die for. We all had deserts, which were delicious. As always we felt so welcome 😍. Eloise in particular is so sweet and such a lovely young lady, so friendly and attentive! Can't wait for our next visit xxx

I went with a friend and we had a lovely experience and a great lunch. Thanks to Sian for great customer service and to Emmet & Terri in the kitchen for great food - I had the chicken katsu burger and it was good.

Stunning roast dinner - cauliflower cheese was tip top

My husband and I usually come here in the week days but decided to have roast lunch today it was delicious will definitely do it again.

Great atmosphere in the pub. Food was delicious. I want the sauce recipe that accompanies the Cowboy burger! Didn't wait long at all despite the pub being really busy. Staff work tirelessly and give the best customer service. Special mention to Eloise, Nathaniel, Martin and Jerome. Never stopped and all so attentive and super friendly to customers. Menu is lovely, lots of choice. Great experience - thank you! Keep up the amazing work. 🥰

Had an amazing time yesterday evening with friends. Brilliant meals - very well prepared and served . Lovely people , staff , variety of drinks , ambiance - and a very pleasant welcome from the Cwm Talwg. Thanks to all for such a pleasant, enjoyable and memorable evening out. Special mention to Elouise - you were delightful , hard working ,good fun and a total asset to the Cwm Talwg .

3 of us had a lovely meal cooked by Emmett and wine finished off with pots of tea. The food was great, our server Eloise could not have been more helpful, friendly and was very efficient.

Fantastic food and fantastic service. Big shout out to the 2 waitresses Eloise and Trina. Super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Visited with family to celebrate a belated Mother’s Day due to work commitments. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was delicious and plenty of choice. Will definitely be returning. Thank you Sian for taking time to talk to my chatty grandson you made his night

This meal was made all the more special purely from the the service and treatment from our waitress Elloise(think that's how you spell it) anyway the one with bright red hair. It's not often you get treated not just as a paying customer, but as a human being, she gets it so right. People buy from people and she is a people person well done Red, made the night special thanks very much.

Thought we'd try an afternoon at The Cwm Talwg. Definitely not disappointed. Food and service was excellent as usual. Sian was extremely kind and helpful.

Enjoyed the meal and the service was 10out of ten.

We visited as part of a large group. Food was hit and miss however. After returning home, we were told that some food was just about warm, some over cooked, one burnt and another dry. My steak pie didn't have much filling and the pastry couldn't be cut but pulled apart. The chips were very good. Staff were excellent, very helpful and a pleasure to speak too. We haven't been out since Christmas but were shocked at the prices of drinks in a Marstons. £14.50 for a pint and double vodka and coke. £20.50 for a bottle of Pinot Grigio that would retail at £6-£7. Its no wonder that the hospitality sector is struggling with that kind of pricing. Maybe its the going rate but as pensioners that's the last visit here for us.

We had family birthday occassion yesterday and we all agreed how lovely the pub is.. the food was superb! every meal (18) was hot, served instantly and good size portions. All staff were were a delight and we felt the pub in itself was very welcoming and with 2 family members in wheelchairs, access from parking to the facilities were point on! Will definately be visiting again. Highly recommend

We went there for a family celebration meal. That had been booked a week prior to the day. They ran out of food. So the options were limited. Which seems to show a lack of compident managent. The response by the landlord was very matter of fact. As a result I would not consider booking another meal at this venue. We have not even been back for a drink. I'm sure that others have had a much better experience.

Came up for Sunday roast today, the beef and turkey was to die for, the atmosphere was buzzing and the staff and management were very friendly and made us feel so welcome. I will definitely be back xx we brought our lil pouch with us and she was treated to a bowl of water and doggy treats just wow plus with 30% off whats not to love xxx

We has table for four in one of the booths. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. Drinks arrived quickly. Our food order came in great time as well and it was delicious and warm and plenty of it. The fries are the best 👌🏻 The atmosphere in the pub was lively and busy. We had a great evening! Thank you.

My daughter and I ate at the Cwm Talwg on a Friday evening. Despite the restaurant being very busy service was speedy and the food was excellent. It was also good value for money

Attended an 18th birthday party at the Cwm Talwg and I have to say the whole experience from the service to the food was absolute perfection, the staff were friendly, engaging, and adapted instantly when they found out my kids were fussy eaters. Absolutely amazing experience! Thank you!

We visited on a Friday evening when it was very busy. We had pre-booked the table. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table. Eloise was a very speedy server and very polite. She took our order for drinks, brought them to us within minutes and took our food order. The food arrived within a reasonable time. Not too quick that you think everything is pre-cooked, but not waiting ages either. Our food was cooked by Tom and Jon and it was cooked to perfection. We had the Steak Americano each with different variations - 1 was cooked medium and 1 was medium-rare. Both were excellent. We arrived at our booked time of 18:30 and had finished eating by 19:20. We left shortly after 19:30. I certainly believe this is value for money and an excellent place to eat in Barry.

Food was beautiful as always, but the service was fantastic from eloise and Alex it's actually really nice too have service with people that are happy.

Even though this part of a chain, it is far superior than the rest. The food was cooked perfectly, and was of a good quality. The fish was HUGE. As for the service, it was efficient and very friendly. Anything they could do for you, they did. A lovely friendly, family experience.

We had a lovely welcome from Eloise when we entered the pub. Service was good and extremely efficient. Food didnt take long to arrive probably due to the efficiency of Tom the chef in the kitchen. We can honestly say that Cwmtalwg is our favourite pub in Barry and surrounding area. The proof to that is that we have two more bookings up to the beginning of February. Eloise is definitely a big asset to Cwmtalwg

I pre booked a table for my son’s 8th birthday for family. The lady who served us the whole time was lovely and even went above and beyond to bring out my son’s birthday cake when I asked. All staff are friendly and always greeted warmly. Will continue to come here for food.

Wicked meal at Cwym Talwg; my wife loved her vegetable Thai curry with prawns, and my lasagne was bang on! As usual, the service and welcome were unbeatable. Looking forward to next time 😍

Went there for new years eve, lovely pub, the food was great, welcoming atmosphere but pricey drinks (over £8 for a double vodka and lemonade) which we didn’t actually mind as the service was great. only problem was our night was cut short and the wife wanted to head home after this guy was rude to her, he said he was the promoter of the music that was going on that evening, short bald chat with a flowery shirt, he did tell me his name but i couldn’t remember. i don’t think we’ll be back when there’s a band in just incase he’s there. i want to give this place 5 stars but i just can’t with how it ended.

It was a nice venue, food was good, it was busy, I tried calling to let them know I was going to be a little late for my reservation but they didn’t answer the phone, other than that it was a good experience.

Excellent service. This local pub and restaurant certainly deserves to succeed, the staff there are very welcoming and courteous and they will go that extra mile. At very short notice, they put on a buffet for family and friends following the funeral of our brother and I would like to convey my grateful thanks to all concerned, especially Katie, Liam and Tom.

The Cwn Talwg was easy to locate and there was plenty of parking. We were welcomed by Nathan who was very friendly. When asked about the DES scheme Nathan explained that the establishment did support the scheme but we’re only able to offer squash as they were not an independent outlet. The dining area and facilities were very clean, we had pre-booked table for a Christmas party/meal and there were table decorations and crackers to reflect this. We tried the scan and order facility for some drinks and the service was really quick. Once our entire party had arrived the staff got right in to cooking/serving our food. As a party of 11 it was great to see everyone’s starters/mains/desserts served at the same time. The staff were really accommodating with requests for extra sauces/gravy/custard. The atmosphere in the establishment was great, festive music playing loud enough that you could hear it but not so loud that you couldn’t hold a conversation. I had a really enjoyable night and would definitely come here again. Thank you to Nathan and the team
