Cwm Talwg Pub in The Vale of Glamorgan

Absolutely lovely night at the Cwm Talwg. The food was so good I asked Martin for the chefs name to include him in this review so thank you emmet for a fantastic meal. And thank you Aimee and Martin for making our visit as good as always

had a meal on Tuesday and the food was amazing had such a good time the meal came out fast as usual and Nathaniel and sian b were very attentive will definitely be back!!

We went there for a family celebration meal. That had been booked a week prior to the day. They ran out of food. So the options were limited. Which seems to show a lack of compident managent. The response by the landlord was very matter of fact. As a result I would not consider booking another meal at this venue. We have not even been back for a drink. I'm sure that others have had a much better experience.

Food was great the service was slow it took a little time for someone to let us know what table we was on had to find someone to take the order and to get the desserts

Nice food and excellent service. Definitely improved with the updated menu. O, and I forgot to Always excellent service from Eloise ......Friendly, helpful and prompt. Lovely innit !! One slight downside.....the wine menu isn't available unless you ask......and then ask again for the updated wine price list !!!! Not ideal.

We has table for four in one of the booths. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. Drinks arrived quickly. Our food order came in great time as well and it was delicious and warm and plenty of it. The fries are the best 👌🏻 The atmosphere in the pub was lively and busy. We had a great evening! Thank you.

My daughter and I ate at the Cwm Talwg on a Friday evening. Despite the restaurant being very busy service was speedy and the food was excellent. It was also good value for money

We visited on a Friday evening when it was very busy. We had pre-booked the table. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our table. Eloise was a very speedy server and very polite. She took our order for drinks, brought them to us within minutes and took our food order. The food arrived within a reasonable time. Not too quick that you think everything is pre-cooked, but not waiting ages either. Our food was cooked by Tom and Jon and it was cooked to perfection. We had the Steak Americano each with different variations - 1 was cooked medium and 1 was medium-rare. Both were excellent. We arrived at our booked time of 18:30 and had finished eating by 19:20. We left shortly after 19:30. I certainly believe this is value for money and an excellent place to eat in Barry.

Martin and his team are very helpful and friendly. A pleasure to have our meals there as food was excellent!

Attended an 18th birthday party at the Cwm Talwg and I have to say the whole experience from the service to the food was absolute perfection, the staff were friendly, engaging, and adapted instantly when they found out my kids were fussy eaters. Absolutely amazing experience! Thank you!

I pre booked a table for my son’s 8th birthday for family. The lady who served us the whole time was lovely and even went above and beyond to bring out my son’s birthday cake when I asked. All staff are friendly and always greeted warmly. Will continue to come here for food.

Wicked meal at Cwym Talwg; my wife loved her vegetable Thai curry with prawns, and my lasagne was bang on! As usual, the service and welcome were unbeatable. Looking forward to next time 😍

It was a nice venue, food was good, it was busy, I tried calling to let them know I was going to be a little late for my reservation but they didn’t answer the phone, other than that it was a good experience.

Excellent service. This local pub and restaurant certainly deserves to succeed, the staff there are very welcoming and courteous and they will go that extra mile. At very short notice, they put on a buffet for family and friends following the funeral of our brother and I would like to convey my grateful thanks to all concerned, especially Katie, Liam and Tom.

Great food and staff and now dog friendly very good food

The Cwn Talwg was easy to locate and there was plenty of parking. We were welcomed by Nathan who was very friendly. When asked about the DES scheme Nathan explained that the establishment did support the scheme but we’re only able to offer squash as they were not an independent outlet. The dining area and facilities were very clean, we had pre-booked table for a Christmas party/meal and there were table decorations and crackers to reflect this. We tried the scan and order facility for some drinks and the service was really quick. Once our entire party had arrived the staff got right in to cooking/serving our food. As a party of 11 it was great to see everyone’s starters/mains/desserts served at the same time. The staff were really accommodating with requests for extra sauces/gravy/custard. The atmosphere in the establishment was great, festive music playing loud enough that you could hear it but not so loud that you couldn’t hold a conversation. I had a really enjoyable night and would definitely come here again. Thank you to Nathan and the team

I came upon this place as the Toby carvery next to my Travel lodge doesn't allow dogs. What a great place. Full of lovely and interesting locals welcoming atmosphere and my dog got served a drink and snacks before I got a pint! 😀 The staff were fantastic and the food(fish&chips) was great! I wish I had a local like this near me

We visited on Sunday 1st December and had the most amazing service! The food was delicious and super good value for money. Siân M, Toni, Josh, Eloise, Carmen & Ang gave us exceptional service. This was our first time at the Cwm Talwg and we will definitely be coming back. Thanks again to Siân the landlady for such amazing hospitality, and shoutout to big Jay behind the bar!

To be fair I didn't know what to expect, we had a great time though, fella behind the bar went out of his way to make us feel welcome, even though he was running off his feet.

We called in today for a change of scenery/pace dinner. what a wonderful place .service from Amy was amazing, fast attentive and aways with a smile . Food by Tom lovely delicious and wonderfully hot .definitely a five stars from us on our first visit .

Fantastic night tonight at the Cwm Talwg, I had the vegan chill was amazing simply to die for and so well played. Amy our serve was polite and so attentive. We played bingo had such as laugh and the room was full and the atmosphere lively and inviting. Sian and Joe the owners were so chatty and really made you feel invited. This pub is a must visit for anyone young old and furry. They even have Christmas cheer and fun planned coming up really look forward to coming back. Wish I could give more than 5 stars as it just doesn’t do it justice

We were welcomed by the staff as soon as we entered the pub, and shown to our table. The service was friendly and prompt. It was also excellent seeing how quickly the team cleaned up the tables as soon as guests left. It was all very clean and organised. Food came at just the right interval between arriving and having drinks. The plates of food were incredible. We could not fault anything, or wish for more. Cooked beautifully, presented well and everything was cooked to perfection. Succulent meat and crunchy veg - not over cooked as most other pubs serve. It was excellent! Our left-overs were wrapped for us to take home, with no bother or inconvenience at all to the staff. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful food and service was outstanding

We visited for an early lunch because the website said food was served from 11.30 am. We ordered at 11.50 being, at the time, the only customers. After 15 minutes or so, we were told that they had run out of the baguettes we ordered and offered us sliced bread instead. Anyway, we chased why the food had yet to arrive at 12.20 to be told they didn't open for meals until 12 noon. Our protestations that the website said differently cut no ice. The food was at best adequate, and we needed to rush eating it. It was a really disappointing experience.

A lovely Sunday meal was had here. The service was brilliant, especially Amy and Eloise. It was a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. The roast dinner was missing a few things when it first came out but the lovely staff rectified it quickly.

Took my two little ones to the Cwm Talwg for Halloween, there was lots going on for children. The staff were lovely and welcoming , it was a great atmosphere. Food looked amazing too. Definitely be back soon!

Lovely visit to the Cwm Talwg on a Friday lunchtime. I hadn’t anticipated the half term rush but Sian was really good at getting me a table and all the staff were really helpful and food and drink were with me before I knew it. Great food and great price.

Front of house staff lovely and very helpful especially the assistant manager Martin. I ordered the tuna mayonnaise baked potato. The description sounded lovely, buttered potato, and the salad with brown rice and quinoa I was looking forward to.imagine m surprise when it arrived.. no butter, the tuna may have seen the mayonnaise n passing if at all. As for the salad I got defrosted wilted leaves that were decidedly unappetising and I believe dangerous to serve. No onion, no tomato no cucumber no red pepper no brown rice no quinoa no kale and no soya beans… also no dressing not that one have eaten the leaves anyway with the state of them. Poor show well below par for my local. Need to pick the game up… disappointed..
