Lounge & Teddies Grill Bar in The Vale of Glamorgan

Early Saturday evening visit, traditional hardware surroundings for dinner. One main course came with undercooked vegetables, made comment to waiter who said they were cooked aldente! My braised belly pork, bubble and squeak cake, with cider and Dijon cream sauce and honey vegetables tasted decent enough but appear to be missing the bubble and squeak! Average food and service, unlikely to revisit.

Visited the bar restaurant on Saturday afternoon having phoned the day before to check if we could just turn up to eat. On arrival there were sevreal tables that hadn't been cleared away and food on the floor so my husband and I cleared a table so we could sit and eat. My husband then made his way to the bar only to be told that as there was a wedding on they were too busy to serve meals. Unbelievable!!

Just popped into The Bear on a recent visit to Cowbridge for a quick drink.Busy as usual but served in no time with a glass of wine and a lager.A little more expensive than some places but worth the extra just for the ambience.

So this hotel has a "Certificate of Excellence", visiting it last week for a meal with a visitor to the area, I dread to think what my guest thought ot The Bear, I for one will certainly not visit the place again. I can understand Hotels, Bars and other public places allowing dogs in, I have done so myself on occasion, however when customers are allowed to let their animals sit on the seats I draw the line,that is disgusting behaviour and the management at the very least should have asked them to put their dog's on the floor, this is after all supposed to be a decent place to go for a meal.

Enjoyed a bar meal here when meeting up with friends for an overnight stay. Good service and food. Have been here several times and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere.

Dirty table and had to hint to get it cleaned. Ordered 3 coffee 20 minutes later still no coffee. Nothing against youngsters but sometimes without experienced staff they just don't get it. Shame as nice place come on managers sort it out

stopped in for a few beers today...had a great draft IPA then decided on a bottled craft beer..a Pipes Bavarian wheat beer...it poured well but tasted like something I would put on my chips...I took it back to the bar and only then it was realised it had a sell by date of Oct 2015...no issues in changing the beer but then 4 months over the sell by date i wouldn't have expected anything different....Surely there should be processes in place for a company of this size to ensure this doesn't happen...really leads me to worry about the food...no real apology other than 'im sorry' quite disappointed really..

Fui con mi marido para una cena temprano por la noche, entró primer área de bar y me dijeron que las comidas sólo estaban disponibles en el segundo bar/restaurante, nos fuimos a esta zona para ser básicamente ignorado por el 4 o 5 personal que estaban presentes.Pedimos unas bebidas en el bar y servida por un hombre joven particularmente lamentable, encontramos una mesa nosotros mismos, ya que nadie parecía ser registrar que estábamos esperando algunas tipo si el servicio, la mesa estaba sucio aunque establecido para la cena. Esperamos 20 minutos, aún nadie reconoció, en este punto terminamos nuestras bebidas y a la izquierda, todavía no había personal pagar cualquier tipo de atención a nuestra presencia. Lo que un terrible ejemplo de una cálida bienvenida en el centro de la ciudad, lo que una tierra que los visitantes de la zona creo que si reciben este tratamiento! No volveremos, hay muchos otros lugares en los que comer y socializar en Cowbridge,donde le damos la bienvenida y por el servicio que cabe esperar

You allow people to smoke electronic cigarettes where food is being served. Not really what you expect. I know their not illegal yet indoors but around food. Maybe some signs! Come on think of others at some point. !!!!!!!!!!!! ????????????

Have been going to The Bear for the past 20 years and have always received a warm welcome with excellent service. Traditionally we have also had our Christmas morning drink here whilst meeting with family and friends. Last year was particularly special in that we were able to toast Christmas with the oldest resident of Cowbridge whom The Bear have been very supportive of and loyal to. Sadly this gentleman has now passed away. Today we were met with closed doors and a member of staff who informed us that unless we had booked a meal we were not able to stay for our customary Christmas drink.There had been no prior notice of this-no instruction on the doors and no apology or explanation offered. I have to say that this was a highly embarrassing experience. Whilst I understand that the recession has and is continuing to hit local businesses and there is a need to maximise profit it is nonetheless disappointing that one of the most iconic hostelries in Cowbridge has had to act in such a negative and unwelcoming manner. Fortunately none of the other hostelries in Cowbridge had adopted a similar policy and all were welcoming whether or not a meal had been booked. Needless to say we will not be patronising this place again and would not recommend it as there are many excellent hostelries in the town.

I recently called at the bar and was served by an indifferent girl and also the waitress that brought the tea. Barmaid served drink and did not say anything or waitress. About time general manager instructed staff in attitude and perhaps herself.
